I fell down while jogging about 15 days back. I hurt my left upper arm and right knee. Initially I gave them rest and my knee improved substantially. I can walk, climb stairs and do everything except kneeling for yoga exercise. My arm even now I can't fully lift sideways though this too has improved. I am 53 years old. Before this fall I used to regularly jog and do yoga. Can I start jogging again?

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Yes you will be able to do everything provided we have seen what injuries you have sustained and treated them adequately. I am sure that you have got required x rays done and ruled out a bony injury. We also have to manage soft tissue injuries carefully as they require utmost care. So continue with rest, physical therapy, anti inflammatory medication as per pain and let me know in 2-3 weeks time otherwise we might have to investigate you to look for what injuries have you sustained? do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

How to start my physical therapy after pin remove from my shoulder after clavicle dislocated surgery.

Bachelor of Physical Therapy

Sir, I would suggest you to start physiotherapy under therapist's observation for 10-15 days. After that you can do exercises at home. Because if exercise are done in a wring way it can aggravate your pain and may lead to dislocation again. I hope I helped you. THANK YOU!

Neck exercises. These are great exercises if your neck is strained from staring at a computer screen all day long. Do these exercises sitting up straight in your chair and do not slouch! •Dear, 1. Keep your eyes centred on one object directly in front of you, now slowly move your head back. You will now be looking at the roof. Keep your whole body still. Hold this position for 5 seconds and slowly return your head to the start position. •2. Keep your eyes centred on one object directly in front of you, now slowly move your head down. You will now be looking at the floor. Keep your whole body still. Hold this position for 5 seconds and slowly return your head to the start position. •3. Keep your eyes centred on one object directly in front of you, turn your head to the left, your vision should be in line with your left shoulder. Turn your head as far as you can and hold the position for 5 seconds. Slowly relax as you return your head to the start position. Dear I hope you will fit & fine.
