Do not keep touching your eye repeatedly to remove discharge. Use Ciplox eye drops one drop 3 times a day) (only one bottle).

Lasik surgery done before 3 weeks halos and glayer are disturbing so much at night and vision is not sharp and stable.

MBBS, DOMS, MS - Ophthalmology, Fellowship In Phacoemusification, Senior Consultant Surgeon
Ophthalmologist, Patna
Lasik surgery done before 3 weeks halos and glayer are disturbing so much at night and vision is not sharp and stable.
LASIK is refractive surgery to correct myopia, hypermetropia & astigmatism, refractive surgery also include intraocular lend procedure. For  LASIK your eyes must be healthy, if you have persistent dry eyes, LASIK surgery may aggravate this condition resulting in burning sensation & blurring of vision after LASIK.  For LASIK cornea must have sufficient thickness because in reshaping of cornea, you loose the thickness of cornea & if your cornea is too thin, you are not fit case for LASIK.   -1D of myopic correction  consumes 35 micron of corneal thickness.  Average thickness of cornea in Indian is 450 micron to 500 micron& after LASIK there should be around 300 micron thickness of cornea for safety of eye in future.  Pupils are usually large in myopic people who undergo LASIK resulting in side effects such as halos, glares especially when driving in night.       LASIK for the treatment of high retractive errors are less predictable, because very high amount of myopia may require removal of too much corneal tissue putting at high risk of vision complications.  LASIK should not be undertaken before 21 years in male & 19 years in female because myopic power increases by that age, you must have stable vision before LASIK.   There is no upper age limit but one should keep in mind that once you are 40 years old, you may still need reading glass due to presbyopia changing every two years till you develop cataract in old age.     Contraindication for LASIK is degenerative disease, sjogren syndrome, type 1 diabetes etc. People who are taking immunosuppressive must think 10 times before undergoing LASIK.  One must go LASIK  screening before taking decision for LASIK.   One who undergoes for LASIK should be fully aware of potential LASIK complications & should not hide anything from operating surgeon about health.

Why Our Eyes Twitch?

Cornea Cataract & Lasik
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
Why Our Eyes Twitch?

Eye twitching, tics in the eyelids and spasms in the eye are pretty common. In case of eye twitching, usually the lower eyelid becomes involved. The upper eyelid may also twitch in certain cases. Twitches are not permanent in nature, and they leave after some time. In some cases, eye twitching may last for long durations of time such as weeks or months.

Eye twitching is not a critical medical condition. It is a temporary prickling and irritation in the eyes, which ceases after some time. Common twitching of the eyes is not related to any neurological disorder.

Here are some reasons which cause eye twitches:

  • StressEvery individual goes through some amount of stress, and the body reacts differently in different people as a result of stress. An eye twitch may be caused due to stress, especially related to strain in the eyes. In order to reduce stress you should practice yoga, meditation, perform breathing exercises and take a break. Reducing the stress would also cease the twitching in the eyes.
  • Tiredness: Eye twitching can appear when you are fatigued or very tired. Lack of proper sleep makes your body tired, and this might trigger eye twitching.
  • You should improve upon your sleeping hours and sleep more.
  • Eye strain: Vision problems and any issue related to the eyes can cause stress, which may result in constant twitching in your eyes. Whenever too much stress is imposed upon your eyes, they tend to react and twitching occurs. Any problem would make the eyes put in more effort, which results in strain. You should have an eye check up if you experience an eye strain accompanied by twitching sensation in your eyes. People who use computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones for a profuse period of time experience pain and twitching in the eyes. There is a 20-20-20 rule to be followed while using such devices, which reduces eye strain and reduces itching or twitching. You can also avail special eyeglasses for people who spend a lot of time on computers.
  • Caffeine: Intake of an excess amount of caffeine leads to eye twitching. Cut down your doses of coffee, tea, dark chocolates and soft drinks in case of eye twitching and you may observe an easing in the twitching.
  • Alcohol: Alcohol also leads to eye twitching so you must abstain from alcohol in case you are having twitching in the eyes.
  • Dry eyesThis disorder develops in people who have crossed the age of 50. People who use computers a lot also develop dry eyes, which leads to eye twitching.

Our eyes twitch because of a lot of reasons. You should know the facts right and avoid situations that lead to eye twitching.

Hello, you should take Ruta 30 Ch , 3 drops once daily and Instil 2 drops of CMD2 eye drop in both eyes. Take Physostigma 30 Ch , 3 drops once daily at night. Follow these exercises to strengthen your eye muscles. Exercises for eyes: Warm your eyes. Rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times. Roll your eyes. Start by looking up and then slowly circle 10 times clockwise and 10 times counterclockwise. Focus. Hold a pen at arm's length, focus your eyes on it, and slowly bring the pen closer until it's about 6 inches away from your nose. Then slowly move it back, keeping your eyes focused on the pen, 10 times in all. Massage your temples. Using your thumb knuckles, massage your temples in small circles, 20 times in one direction and 20 in the other. Repeat the same actions above the mid-point of the eyebrows at the forehead, then below the eyes on both sides of the bridge of the nose. Take a mini-nap. Put your head back, close your eyes, and relax for 3 minutes. Insufficient sleep may weaken your vision, so shoot for 8 hours of sound sleep a night. Rest your eyes 10 minutes for every 50 minutes spent reading or in front of the computer. If your eyes feel overly tired, lie down and place cooling cucumber slices over your eyelids.

Tearing of the eye is one of the most prevalent problems observed. Tearing of the eyes has multiple causes associated with it. To enumerate a few common causes: (1) allergy of the eye. It is usually caused by improper eye hygiene. It occurs with symptoms of pricking, itching, irritation, watering, foreign body sensation and discomfort. There is a tendency to rub the eyes with fingers, handkerchief, cloth, etc. This is not a good habit because it tends to transmit lots of virus, bacteria and dust into the eye. Allergy usually presents with symptoms of watering (clear water), redness and itching of the eye. Thus, eye hygiene remains the principal modality of treatment along with eye drops as a supplement. (2) infectious conjunctivitis: this is usually associated with white-yellowish discharge. There may occur associated pain and sensation of itching, pricking, watering and discomfort. If so, it would be a good idea to go and show to an eye specialist in person. (3) foreign body lodged in the eye. This is more commonly associated with people who drive 2 wheeler vehicles without protection. It occurs more commonly in one eye. Foreign bodies that commonly get lodged are eyelashes, insect wings, small insects, dust particles, iron particles (more common with people working in the iron industry) the solution for a foreign body lodged in the eye would be better provided by an eye specialist at the clinic because it would require immediate removal from the eye and appropriate therapy. (4) raised eye pressure: this is a condition known as glaucoma. It is not so common as the previous mentioned conditions. There is usually associated pain in the eyes. It is commonly bilateral (occurs in both eyes). There is usually a positive family history of glaucoma associated in a majority of the cases. (5) inflammation of the covering layers of the eyeball. This is known as" uveitis" it is also a relatively less common condition. There is associated pain. It would require a thorough eye checkup including the retina-thus a good idea would be to visit the eye specialist in person. (6) increased blood pressure. This has known to cause redness which is also known as sub-conjunctival hemorrhage. The redness in this case tends to be deep dark and usually occurs only in one portion of the eye. In this regard, a complete ophthalmic evaluation and a systemic evaluation is warranted. (7) injury/ trauma to the eye in any form may cause redness of the eyes. This should be taken seriously and assessed in detail by an eye specialist in person. From the symptoms described by you, it seems more likely to be a case of allergy. Maintaining the precautions and hygiene that I mentioned should probably work well for you. You could also use a lubricant eye drop along with an anti-histamine eye drop. (3-4 times daily) also, you might require a complete eye evaluation in order to rule out other causes. This would be possible only by examining your eyes in person. Hope my suggestions helped you. Take care.

These dots are called floaters but to know whether they are harmless or not would need a proper retina checkup.

My eyes got red after using laptop for 6 7 hours. Is it something serious? Should I go to a doctor? I don't wear specs.
Excessive times spend on laptop/tv/ mobile could lead to computer vision syndrome. It is the result of long prolonged hours of focusing the eyes on a computer screen or any other display device. The symptoms include? headache and neck pain? blurred vision? eye strain? dry eyes along with redness the situation can further be aggravated by poor lighting environment. The way to reduce the symptom is to? work under adequate lighting? blink a lot? cold compresses? use lubricating eye drops.
