You have to take him to a psychiatrist and in tandem have him work with a counselor. He sounds like he could be into a deep depression and needs immediate attention so that his condition does not deteriorate. In the meantime, he can use some of these recommendations: Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber, nuts, avocado, exercise regularly, eat dark chocolate, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. I suggest you do the opposite of what this depression makes you feel like doing (actually, not doing): you will need to fight this condition. You must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, attend Yoga classes etc. Watch sitcoms on TV or comedies and cheer yourself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it and relating to it. Expose yourself to some sunlight every day, at least, 30 minutes but not in the scorching heat. Whatever happens, please incorporate these three important adaptations in your life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If you did these three, lots of things will go well in life. Please pray and have faith in God to alleviate your sufferings. Don’t wait for others to help. Use your own motivation, which might be at its lowest, but persevere and win this battle. Above all to be really happy, you need to live in love and for love. Learn all about emotions and how to handle them and that will get you out of the depression rather easily and quickly. A counselor is there only to facilitate you, all the hard word must come from you, and your cooperation with that person is very critical for your success. Be positive every day and learn to be contented with what you have. Do some left brain exercises: it is the happy brain. Here are a few suggestions: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. Whatever happens please cooperate with the therapy and do not discontinue until the condition is completely resolved.

Dear lybrate-user, welcome to lybrate. Memory and mind power depends mainly on three aspects. Understanding, storage and recollection. To understand what you are studying, you must be able to be attentive or concentrate. Concentration is possible when you are interested in that subject. Creative way of learning can help you concentrate and understand easily. When you are able to understand and concentrate, it is stored within your brain. If you read more and more it will be store in long term memory. Third part is retrieval. Whenever you want to retrive what you learned and stored, your brain gets the request, searches the database and retrieves the information for you. The retrieval may prove to be difficult if you are anxious, stressed, worried or tired physically or mentally. Retrieval is more easy when you are relaxed and healthy. Brain needs nutrients to keep itself sharp. Fruits, vegetables and dry fruits provide much needed nutrients for your brain. Include at least one fruit in your daily diet. Physical exercises, entertainment, hobbies, relaxation, memory games like sudoku etc help keep your memory sharp and active. Take care.

Hi lybrate-user, are you suffering from depression and since how many days are you suffering. Take positive in your mind and body, you will feel energetic. Don't feel that you are poor, helpless, in capable etc. Weak mind is full of weak thoughts. Try to eradicate all type of ill thoughts by positive poor. Time will come you will be settled.

I have ocd and have no support system to finance my medicines which are expensive and have to be taken continuously. What do I do?

Hello, thanks for the query. I agree that some medications for ocd are expensive & one needs to take at least 1 year of continuous medications to achieve complete improvement. There are some medications like fluoxetine which are efficacious & cheap too. In addition there are counselling methods known as cbt. Both of which are available at my clinic. If you can give me list of medications along with doses you have received so far; I can help you further. Good luck.

Hello lybrate user, hi buddy. Fear is an imagination of your mind. Too much of thinking about future will create fear through anxiety. Too much of swinging to past or future or anything results in fear through worries. Just live in the present moment. That is the power of now. Mind living in the present moment is fearless mind. It is deathless state. Practice meditation and just do your job on hand without likes and dislikes and enjoy the present moment. Present is the'present' a gift given by god. Meditation will enable you to live moment to moment and be happy with inner freedom.

Your depression may be connected to the breakup but bipolar is a more serious condition and has deeper ramifications and treatment. The breakup may have precipitated the predisposition to this disease. You need to go for counseling to deal with the bipolar along with the medication and also the issue regarding the breakup. Actually, you may look at how much you may have contributed towards the breakup because of the condition of bipolar. Your behavior may have provoked the bad relationship to lead to its split. You need to focus on your therapeutic treatment and get well soon by good cooperation with both therapies. There are certain adaptations that will suit you during the elation phase and there are certain behaviors that are required during the depressed phases. In the meantime you can do certain things that will give you benefits anyway. Emotional therapy will alleviate a lot of the problems faced in this condition because it is a mood disorder. You need to particularly look at your levels of anger both for its reasonableness and to express it in appropriate manner. I suspect that much of this anger may have origins in early childhood that you may never be aware of it now. Talk to your parents and explore that angle. This information will help the counselor too. Also you will need to check whether there is any genetic factor involved. You must exercise regularly, eat healthily and sleep normally too. If your motivation and cooperation is good much can be achieved. You must have a time-structured schedule filled with interesting and reasonable activities and it must be monitored for compliance and delivery. The reason I say this is that many times you will be inclined to have grandiose notions and confidently believe that you can do without the medication. This will set you back many months in the treatment and delay and sabotage the recovery: forewarned you are forearmed. If this combination of medication with therapy is maintained for at least three years without any episodes or breakdowns, it is possible to taper the medication in consonance with the doctor.

I always feels stressed. I experiences panic/anxiety attacks. I experiences fearful thoughts too. I avoid to travel and to visit any crowded place. When I wake up my head remains heavy. I feel that I didn't sleep at all during night though I slept for 7-8 hours. Experiences headache almost daily. Experiences vertigo as well. O experiences shaky feelings too. I can't do much physical activity. I easily gets tired and feels heavy head and brainfog kind of thing after meditation or driving (mental exercise) or any physical activity (morning walk, running, playing cricket or other game). I can't concentrate much. I don't want to go for any medication. Please advise some alternatives like meditation/yoga or online therapy.

Dear user. I can understand. PANIC ATTACK a sudden overwhelming feeling of acute and disabling anxiety. Panic disorder is different from the normal fear and anxiety reactions to stressful events. Panic disorder is a serious condition that strikes without reason or warning. Symptoms of panic disorder include sudden attacks of fear and nervousness, as well as physical symptoms such as sweating and a racing heart. Panic attack always happens due to an underlying anxiety disorder. So you need to treat anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorder is treated with the help of counseling and psychotherapy. You should consult a psychologist. Take care.

Instead of worrying or being anxious, meditate and feel peaceful and happy. It has been scientifically proved that meditation not only helps the mind but also body because controlled mind and purification of consciousness leads to better lifestyle and improved habits of food, sleep etc which in turn leads to better overall health. Most diseases have their roots in uncontrolled mind and impure consciousness. So take to and feel peaceful and happy by finding and reading books, either from internet. Hope this helps, sincerely.

You mean musterbation mb isva natural phenomenon but it should be done in moderation. Too much of mb may affect your normal as well as sexual health. So control the so called foreplay. Have nutritious food go for morning walk followed by free hand exercises. Have plenty of water by mouth. Do some yoga and pranayum like kapal bhatee. Etc. It will be alright.
