My grand ma has got a problem in speaking. Her speech becomes mumbled when she is taking. She had just made her teeth rearranged from a dentist. Is it the problem of that?

Yes it can be one of the reasons, but not the final reason. Ask her to practice reading anything loudly in a room, practice will solve the problem, and of course you can visit the dentist to find out other reasons.

I am suffering from anxiety since last one year. What should I do for it please answer soon?
Occasional anxiety is a normal part of life. You might feel anxious when faced with a problem at work, before taking a test, or making an important decision. But anxiety disorders involve more than temporary worry or fear. For a person with an anxiety disorder, the anxiety does not go away and can get worse over time. Restlessness or feeling wound-up or on edge being easily fatigued difficulty concentrating or having their minds go blank irritability muscle tension difficulty controlling the worry sleep problems (difficulty falling or staying asleep or restless, unsatisfying sleep) these are some of the symptoms. U seem to be having anxiety disorder, kindly consult a psychiatrist and get treated.

If you have a psychological or psychiatric problem, you need to take medicine for a longer period and also continue seeing a psychologist. It takes usually longer to see results. Along with medication you may also try following. These days chronic stress due to our life style and work demand feeling stressful, burnt out might lead of depression. Try following things to learn relaxation response which leads to better coping mechanism on a daily basis. To begin with doing guided progressive muscular relaxation before sleeping will help you relax. I would also suggest you to take a multiple small break to take 3 nice and deep breath while keeping your eyes closed. You could do this while sitting or standing or while even walking or climbing stairs (keep your eyes open in that case). When you take a nice and deep break there is actual physiological change in your body. Thus will help you to activate parasympathetic nervous system which promotes relaxation and helps you calm down and think more clearly. This will also actually improve your performance in your work. Along with this exercise is one of the best way to relive stress and stay fit. Engage in any kind of physical activity at least 4 times a week. This also helps in stress reduction. Along with this some relaxation exercises as well as engaging in joyful activities such as music, singing, dancing, reading, being in nature, gardening, talking with friends or anything which you enjoy will help reducing stress and rejuvenation of your mind and body. Have good routine for sleep and eating. Lot of research has now proven that sugar is very harmful for our health. Reduce sugar and refined white floor in your diet as much as you could. Along with this also increase consumption of raw vegetables in the form of salad in both the meals of your day. If you need help in exploring what works best for you and make this into your life style do let me know. As a trained wellness coach I could help you tailored your own holistic wellness program. Hope this helps wishing you very best.

Hello doctor. I'm veterinary student. Sometime I feel very irritating. I feel so angry some time. Give me suggestions how to control my mind?

BASM, MD, MS (Counseling & Psychotherapy), MSc - Psychology, Certificate in Clinical psychology of children and Young People, Certificate in Psychological First Aid, Certificate in Positive Psychology
Psychologist, Palakkad
Dear lybrate user, Anger and aggression are emotions. Anger comes when you become irritated. Irritation happens when you don't like something, or when something is repeated. As anger is an emotion, it should be vent out. You should be able to throw anger out instead of controlling it. But more perfect will be, know the frustrating situations and stop being emotional. If practiced properly, you will not get irritated at those circumstances at all. Those techniques are much easier to understand. Take care.

Antidepressants have this side effect. The medication is accumulated in your body. You are showing symptoms of emotional and mental fatigue. You need counselling and psychotherapy along with ayurveda to help you overcome depression. These methods are safe and without side effects. Besides this please practice yoga, pranayama and meditation etc to destress yourself. Some amount of exercise is extremely important. Take care.

That type of man suffers from low self esteem and is not a man at all. Leave that man, and search a man who feels woman is an equal if not a better partner. Then life will be happy. If he consumes alcohol, frequently ask him to take de addiction treatment, else stay away.

I am 41 years old. Having blood sugar 160/260, bp 150/100, having lots of stress in office work and family life.

I am 41 years old. Having blood sugar 160/260, bp 150/100, having lots of stress in office work and family life.
Hi there ~ first things first. You need your blood sugars under control, and this is a priority. You need to get yourself to a diabetologist and consult them to check if you need changes in your medications. I strongly believe that you do. Next off, you need to control your blood pressure and hypertension along with uncontrolled diabetes is the cause of many medical emergencies like stroke, heart attack, etc, stress is the result of or the causative factor in many cases for the medical conditions that you are experiencing. I believe that you may need to consult with a psychiatrist after your medical problems are solved to see if you need any medications or therapeutic measures like relaxation techniques and yoga pranayama dhyana meditation and mindfulness to overcome stress. Hope this helps. Take care and have a lovely day!

Dear Shakti, Inability to concentrate may be due to depression itself. Do not diagnose yourself with one symptom. ADHD mostly starts in childhood.
