I saw my teeth mirror. I saw calcium deposited in my teeth. What remedies should I take to avoid this? I have a layer of yellow stains in my teeth. How can I make my teeth look bright?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
The simplest method of removing minor surface stains is polishing, or micro-abrasion if staining is more intrinsic. Provided that your discolouration is not due to inadequate enamel exposing the dentin, tooth whitening (bleaching) is often the most effective treatment for yellow stained teeth. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply snowdent paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min. Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results.

3 days back I got removed my wisdom tooth and took antibiotic as per dentist suggestion. Within a day I got mouth ulcer (roof of the mouth) I stopped using antibiotic. Using Denogel very often. It does not help. I am not able to even drink plain water so much pain is there. Please suggest.

Certified Implantologist, MDS - Orthodontics, BDS
Dentist, Delhi
Hi, ulcers could be because of prolonged use of antibiotics, vitamins deficiency due to improper diet intake and also could be due to stress. Advised you to take proper balanced diet, lots of liquid, water and use ulcer gel before meal. They will take 5-7 days to get healed properly. Start taking multivitamins also.

Go for scaling and polishing of your teeth, should be done once in 6 months. Many things cause gum bleeding but the most common is gum inflammation which will improve after this for further advise consult a dentist nearby maintain oral hygiene, brush twice for 3 minutes each change your brush every 3 months use dental floss to clean interdental areas. Save your natural tooth rather than extracting it! I believe in conserving a tooth.

My daughter is 6 yrs old undergone procedure for teeth extraction yesterday today she has back neck ache please advice us why is it so?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Fellow of Academy of General Education (FAGE), BDS
Dentist, Patna
Please apply volini gel on the neck. It might be due to aberrant posture while extracting the tooth. It will improve in a few days.

My teethes are not strong. Have extracted many. Painful while biting. Got only 5 on the upper jaw. How to protect the remaining teethes.

BHMS
Sexologist, Noida
The most frequent cause in adults for loose teeth is secondary trauma from periodontal (gum) disease. Bacterial plaque built up on teeth from poor oral hygiene causes a chronic infection that eventually weakens gum attachment to the teeth. A loose tooth is a late sign of this damage. Lo calcium level so you take excess milk product ok.

There is problem in my teeth. and between my teeth there is a cavity that's why some times it pain a lot and food is also filled into it so how can I resolve it to save my teeth and get the relief for this problem.

MDS Prosthodontics, BDS
Dentist, Hyderabad
Any dental cavity needs a filling to prevent total damage. The dentist will take a radiograph and decide if a filling can be done or the tooth needs root canal treatment. Filling closes the gap, so you will not have food lodgement problem too.

How to Get Rid of Bad Breath

PhD in Alternative Medicine
Alternative Medicine Specialist,
How to Get Rid of Bad Breath

Bad breath is a condition that is also known as Halitosis in medical terms. It is mostly caused by the sulphur producing bacteria that lurk around beneath the surface of the tongue. This is what produces the foul odour. These bacteria grow with the help of protein that gets deposited in your mouth, and may develop even faster when there is poor oral hygiene at play. The causes of this protein deposit may include food debris, bleeding, mucus blood, infection and disease in the gums or oral tissues.

So how can you naturally combat this bad breath problem? Read on!

  1. Oral Care Products: Your very first step should be to change your oral hygiene products like toothpastes and mouthwashes in order to bring in products that are specifically used for fighting bad breath and the related causes or problems. Brushing and flossing at least twice a day, or even after every meal is an absolute necessity that one must not compromise on.
  2. Fibre Rich Food: It is important to have plenty of fibre rich food as this helps in preventing bad breath or Halitosis since the fibre content is known to flush toxins out effectively.
  3. Junk and Processed Food: Food that has too much of sugar or artificial sweeteners and food that is packaged and processed with artificial flavourings and emulsifiers, can be bad for the digestive system in general. This kind of food also tends to create bad breath and should be avoided in case you are already suffering from this condition.
  4. Medication: it may come as a surprise to you that there are certain medicines like antidepressants and diuretics that can lead to side effects like drying of the mouth, which in turn can cause a problem of bad breath. So, it would be recommended to steer clear of this kind of medication for a while until the bad breath problem abates.
  5. Tea: Drinking green and black tea can be beneficial for people suffering from this condition as both these types of tea happen to contain substances known as polyphenols that can help in fighting oral bacteria and sulphur compounds. Apart from this, one must also drink plenty of water in order to keep the mouth fresh and to help the digestion work in a better.
  6. Dentures and Braces: If you happen to be wearing dentures and braces, then you may want to clean these regularly and maintain good oral hygiene so that you do not suffer from bad breath.

Bad breath can be a confidence killer and one should get it checked in case it is a persistent and prolonged problem.
