Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. In a diabetic patient invariably peripheral neuropathy does set in after a few years of that condition. It is seen even when blood glucose is well controlled. There are a few medications used to reduce the intensity of that condition like using methyl cobal amine, folic acid and lipoleic acid combinations and drugs like pragabalin or gabapentine are used. These do help. Thanks.

Climbing up and down stairs requires enormous efforts by the body and the heart needs to pump more blood to your limbs to make them work. It is a normal phenomenon and is exaggerated in old age. I would advise you not to use stairs too much. Drunk lot of fluids and keep yourself hydrated. Move your ankles and feet before you get up from during our lying position, in order to pull back blood from your lower limbs to your heart. Regards.
