Hand exercise dear, you can do it, 1……. Make a Fist Hand and finger exercises can help strengthen your hands and fingers, increase your range of motion, and give you pain relief. Stretch only until you feel tightness. You shouldn't feel pain. Start with this simple stretch: •Make a gentle fist, wrapping your thumb across your fingers. •Hold for 30 to 60 seconds. Release and spread your fingers wide. •Repeat with both hands at least four times. Finger Stretch Try this stretch to help with pain relief and to improve the range of motion in your hands: •Place your hand palm-down on a table or other flat surface. •Gently straighten your fingers as flat as you can against the surface without forcing your joints. •Hold for 30 to 60 seconds and then release. •Repeat at least four times with each hand. Claw Stretch This stretch helps improve the range of motion in your fingers. •Hold your hand out in front of you, palm facing you. •Bend your fingertips down to touch the base of each finger joint. Your hand should look a little like a claw. •Hold for 30 to 60 seconds and release. Repeat at least four times on each hand. Grip Strengthener This exercise can make it easier to open door knobs and hold things without dropping them. •Hold a soft ball in your palm and squeeze it as hard as you can. •Hold for a few seconds and release. •Repeat 10 to 15 times on each hand. Do this exercise two to three times a week, but rest your hands for 48 hours in between sessions. Don't do this exercise if your thumb joint is damaged. I hope apka hand acha or majbut ho jayga thnx…………………………………………….

Hi I am in constant fear of dying. I cannot enjoy what I used to do before. I did my ecg few months back it showed sinus tachycardia bt flattening inflat leads. So I consulted cardiologist and he told that was because of the anxiety. But the symptoms which I am facing are same like heart attack. I feel nausea on some days and some days it better. But the doctors say thats because of acidity. On some days there is chest pain and sometimes I have tingling in the fingers of hand. When its good I do not feel anything. And suddenly I start googling about the symptoms and start worrying. What could be the reason?

Get some exercise. More oxygen intake will keep you fresh. Have a glass of water before sitting down to study. Set a time limit for yourself- to finish a topic or a set number of questions. Reward yourself with something you like to do or eat. Set next target and go ahead. Probably what you are doing is not important for you, that's the reason you are laxed and sleep. Make your studies important for you- you will not feel sleepy.

Hi lybrate-user, your problem is not that serious to worry or take medicines, it can be cured without medicines. You should actually take some relaxation therapy provided by psychologist, yoga teacher to relieve you from tension and back headache. It is good that you are non alcoholic and non smoker, added advantage to come out from anxiety, depression and hand shivering. First I would like to give you some advise, you go attend relaxation therapy and yoga that is meditation from a well trained yoga teacher to remove your anxiety and back headache for at least 3 to 6 months continuously, do not take this as a joke, if you attend some classed for your health sake should attend continuously, only then you can come out from this problem. This will help you to be self confident. You have got to visit a counsellor or contact counsellor to remove your depression, bring in self confidence and to help you lead a better life with happiness, but before would like to know more about yourself, family, work, related to this problem if any. Only then we could help you better.

You should concentrate on overall wellbeing by following a disciplined life ( a healthy lifestyle). Avoid all bad habits and exercise everyday as it can not only give strength and stamina but also elevate your mood. At the same time do not over indulge. Bring a balance between work and pleasure so that you can be self-confident.

Hi , This happens among school students at least 30 to 35 percentage students face this problem, Do not worry about exams. Just relax. You should learn to cope with this problem instead of giving so much pressure always studying studying, how is it if you have breaks to play cricket or having ice cream instead of studying all the time. You should enjoy filled with joy while playing or having an ice cream fully to the extent that you forget everything around you at least for 45 minutes to one hour. Then you should start studying. If you need more assistance or guidance from my side feel free to contact me either through appointment so that I can help you over one this problem. Take care. Be cool. With regards,

PDDM, MHA, MBBS

It can be made lesser only and only by speech therapy. So you should take the help of a speech therapist. Also, i'd suggest you to visit a psychologist as confidence plays a great role in dealing with this problem. I'd suggest you to speak very slowly, word by word. People may make fun of this but believe me, slowly you'll get better at it.

My wife gets bouts of intense anger frequently during a day and she targets me my daughter and son in law for petty reasons. She is 63 and no clinical disorders. No bp or sugar or any other disorder. Hw shall I get her treated?

Dear, anger and aggression are emotions. Anger comes when you become irritated. Irritation happens when you don't like something, or when something is repeated. As anger is an emotion, it should be vent out. You should be able to throw anger out instead of controlling it. But more perfect will be, know the frustrating situations and stop being emotional. If practiced properly, you will not get irritated at those circumstances at all. Those techniques are much easier to understand. Please post a private question with all the details and I shall help you with those tips and tricks. Take care.

I need to know what my mental health issue is. I have not been diagnosed but I have depression and social anxiety. I have symptoms of borderline personality disorder as well. I might be bipolar, but I can not tell. Sometimes I feel absolutely on top of the world and suddenly I feel like I can not do anything. Sometimes when I feel good I do risky things like try to go on top of buildings or act hyper. I have most control but also have thoughts of stealing cars, running away for no reason etc. Since im young, it could just be my hormones but its extremely confusing and tiring.

My daughter short type memory what can I do her mind study she learn but after some time his mind blank.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
This may be a recent development and it is primarily because of her age. I suspect that the adolescent issues with regard to hormones may be affecting her ability to concentrate and remember. When the hormones play up, it lasts for a period of close to two years and during that time she could be influenced by three signs directly impacted by the chemical: she will tend to become aggressive and rebellious, she will become sexually active, and she will have acne and pimple problems. The hormonal imbalances may not only impact her memory because of the chemical but also bring some distractions that come with it. But she may work on the following even if the hormones kick in: Daily exercise of at least half an hour is a must. Even if she goes to a gym, ask for aerobic and/or callisthenic exercises with whatever else she is doing. A healthy body harbors a healthy mind. With regard to memory, it is very important that her brain and body is ideally rested to be able to recall whatever is required, rather comfortably. Puzzles pose problems to the brain that help it to use new pathways and neurons, which give the brain considerable exercise. It taxes the left brain to use logic to solve the myriad possibilities which other activities do not stimulate. Crosswords are excellent for vocabulary learning and use. Jigsaws and Rubik cube stimulate different permutations to finally settle on the most likely one. Picture completion and anagrams help approach problem solving from several angles. She should do Sudoku, and memory co-relation activities and skills. Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), nuts, avocado, eat dark chocolate, consume less of fat and use olive oil instead, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. She needs to check out if she is stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if she combines the two modes, she will get the best concentration. Have a special place of learning, which should be well lit, with soft painted walls, well-ventilated, with no distractions. When she gets bored, study by writing. If she repeats learning at least five to seven times, she will apparently remember for a longer time. Sit comfortably but do not slouch. The reading material should be of a fairly large print. Study at small intervals of about 40 minutes and then take a break or change the subject. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. When people are stressed, they tend to favor the right brain and abandon the left brain, where short-term memory resides. So, it is really very simple: deal with the stress and activate left brain functions. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut left nostril and breathe, move eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. There is a new exercise called Super Brain Yoga, which is done by holding the right earlobe with your left thumb and index finger, and the left earlobe with your right hand’s thumb and index finger. In this position she must squat down and rise up and do this for five minutes every day. There are some memory enhancing techniques and study methods that her teacher will be able to guide her with. If the home life is full of distractions and stress, it is likely to affect her memory, adversely. In that case, I suggest that the family goes for counseling too. The following foods do help too: Blueberries, walnuts, turmeric, Spinach, tomatoes, broccoli, acorn squash, green tea, oily fish, boiled egg, turkey, apples, oatmeal, leafy greens, lentils, pumpkin seeds, avocado, cinnamon, thyme, sunflower seeds, and red wine. Avoid sugar and junk food.

Dear Lybrate user. I can understand. Memory and mind power depends on three aspects. Understanding, retention and recollection. Recollection is easy if your retention is proper and flawless. Retention is possible when you are able understand what you read or learn. To understand you should have concentration. Concentration comes from effective learning techniques based on creative and active learning. Physical exercise, outdoor games, entertainment, socializing coupled with systematic learning improves your memory and mind power. Brain games like sudoku and jigsaw puzzles helps too. I suggest online education counseling. Take care.

MBBS, MD - Psychiatry, MBA (Healthcare)

Hi there ~ Getting good sleep is important in maintaining health. There are several things that you can do to promote good sleep, and ultimately Get Better Sleep. Maintain a regular sleep routine Go to bed at the same time. Wake up at the same time. Ideally, your schedule will remain the same (+/- 20 minutes) every night of the week. Avoid naps if possible Naps decrease the ‘Sleep Debt’ that is so necessary for easy sleep onset. Each of us needs a certain amount of sleep per 24-hour period. We need that amount, and we don’t need more than that. When we take naps, it decreases the amount of sleep that we need the next night – which may cause sleep fragmentation and diffulty initiating sleep, and may lead to insomnia. Don’t stay in bed awake for more than 5-10 minutes. If you find your mind racing, or worrying about not being able to sleep during the middle of the night, get out of bed, and sit in a chair in the dark. Do your mind racing in the chair until you are sleepy, then return to bed. No TV or internet during these periods! That will just stimulate you more than desired. If this happens several times during the night, that is OK. Just maintain your regular wake time, and try to avoid naps. Don’t watch TV or read in bed. When you watch TV or read in bed, you associate the bed with wakefulness. The bed is reserved for two things – sleep and hanky panky. Do not drink caffeine inappropriately The effects of caffeine may last for several hours after ingestion. Caffeine can fragment sleep, and cause difficulty initiating sleep. If you drink caffeine, use it only before noon. Remember that soda and tea contain caffeine as well. Avoid inappropriate substances that interfere with sleep Cigarettes, alcohol, and over-the-counter medications may cause fragmented sleep. Exercise regularly Exercise before 2 pm every day. Exercise promotes continuous sleep. Avoid rigorous exercise before bedtime. Rigorous exercise circulates endorphins into the body which may cause difficulty initiating sleep. Have a quiet, comfortable bedroom Set your bedroom thermostat at a comfortable temperature. Generally, a little cooler is better than a little warmer. Turn off the TV and other extraneous noise that may disrupt sleep. Background ‘white noise’ like a fan is OK. If your pets awaken you, keep them outside the bedroom. Your bedroom should be dark. Turn off bright lights. Have a comfortable mattress. If you are a ‘clock watcher’ at night, hide the clock. Have a comfortable pre-bedtime routine A warm bath, shower Meditation, or quiet time If you are still not able to sleep well please set up a consultation and we will try to help.
