I'm currently under Anti - Tuberculosis allopathic medication for the past three months. Lately I've got a problem of eyesight. There seems bubble-like matter and dark spots moving in front of my eyes. I even feel a haziness and dizziness leading to a sort of vertigo due to this. I think this has been due to the side-effects of my anti- tuberculosis medicines. Is there a serious risk to my eyesight? What should I do? Can you please suggest any suitable health tip for my eyes?

Anti tuberculosis treatment has known eye side effects. Also TB can also cause inflammation of eye. The dark spots you see r called floaters. These are perceived and normal in 80 to 90 percent population. But are also a very common presentation of uveitis or inflammation. Please get a comprehensive dilated eye examination.

Hello Lybrate User, Take Homeopathic treatment, Homoeopathy has a great & valuable role in treating the effects of Deviated Nasal Septum by enhancing or improving one’s Immune Power. So in spite of having the Deviated septum a person will be symptom free. For chronic & acute conditions patient needs constitutional treatment to reduce the recurrence and to build resistance & immunity which will lead the treatment towards cure in short time. If you want to take homeopathic treatment consult me privately.

I have problem in nose because have cold & cough from one month.

Dietitian/Nutritionist,
Firstly there's no lifelong cure for the common cold. Antibiotics are only effective against infections of throat and are of no use against cold viruses. Over-the-counter (otc) cold preparations won't cure a common cold or make it go away any sooner, and most have side effects. A saltwater gargle 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2tsp turmeric dissolved in a glass of warm water can temporarily relieve a sore or scratchy throat. To help relieve nasal congestion, try saline (pure salt water) nasal drops.

Sinusitis is an inflammation, or swelling, of the tissue lining the sinuses. Normally, sinuses are filled with air. But when they become blocked and filled with fluid, germs (bacteria, viruses, and fungi) can grow and cause an infection. Conditions that can cause sinus blockage include the common cold, allergic rhinitis (swelling of the lining of the nose), nasal polyps (small growths in that lining), or a deviated septum (a shift in the nasal cavity). Homoeopathic constitutional treatment will give you permanent cure, your detailed symptomatology will be required.

Hi this is deepti, I am 22 years old n I am having breathing problem since last 2-3 months. Is it asthma?

Doctor of Medicine
Pulmonologist,
Hello! you can be free from asthma suffering. Lot of people who have allergies tend to suffer continuously or intermittently. Unless you remove allergies from body to enter* you will keep suffering from different kinds of allergies. Lungs: allergies cause asthma. Skin: rashes & itching nose & sinus: cold & sneezing, headache. Stomach: pain abdomen or gastritis. Best way to come out of any kind of allergies is first do allergy screening test and then only start medications. Or else the medicines will not work effectively as allergen exposer is not taken care.

What is the difference between active tuberculosis and latent tuberculosis?

FCCP (USA), MD - Pulmonary Medicine
Pulmonologist,
After the initial infection, some bacilli may undergo dormant state, the condition is called latent tb. Here the patient do not have symptoms or signs of disease activity. This can be diagnosed by tst or igra tests. Active tb means bacteria has started causing harm to your body so there will be symptoms, lesions on xray, microbiological positivity. Latent tb may progress to active tb and the chance is 10% during life time. In hiv patients this increases to 50-60%.

I am having allergy to dust & smoke & I get headache/Neck pain for which I use sinarite as recommended by a doctor .Headache & neck pain will be there throughout night and very minute qty of phelm in sinus portion which will come out after coughing out during brushing teeth.only then the head ache will come down .please let me know this medicine is good or anything better

MD PULMONARY, DTCD
Pulmonologist, Faridabad
Dust can cause allergy but smoke is irritant.Your airways appear hyperresposive. It is better to use telekast f instead of sinarist as it containe both antiallergic and antiinflamatory.Every one brings out small phelm early morning and three/five/day which a normal protective phenomenon .Our lungs have the capacity to bring mucus and dust inhaled during day to bring upto throat by mucocilliary mechanism and after that one have to cough out it fron throat.

I've cough and headache for 3 days. What to do?

CCEDM(DIABETES), MD - Internal Medicine, MBBS
General Physician,
I've cough and headache for 3 days. What to do?
There are several things you can do to prevent a cold—they are all easy and inexpensive and worth the effort. Wash your hands often-with soap and warm water. The germs stick to the soap and get washed down the drain. Always wash your hands after coughing or sneezing into your hands, blowing your nose, after touching someone who is sick, or when using public restrooms or telephones. Cover Your Mouth and Nose When You Sneeze or Cough- Clean your hands every time you cough or sneeze. Avoid Touching Your Eyes, Nose, or Mouth-Germs are often spread when a person touches a contaminated surface and then touches their eyes, nose, or mouth. Stay Home When You’re Sick-Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, don’t smoke, manage stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food so you can fend off viruses. Take healthy balanced diet...like boiled eggs.daily in breakfast .. Avoid people who have a cold or cold symptoms. Routinely clean and disinfect common areas of your home. Treatment:There is a gradual 1-3 day onset of symptoms. It often starts out as a sore throat, then a fever and coughing. As the cold progresses, the nasal mucus may thicken which is the last stage before the cold dries up. A cold usually lasts for a week or two. But, taking good care of yourself at home can relieve symptoms and help prevent complications if you are otherwise healthy. Unless you develop complications, you shouldn’t need medical treatment. Complications include bacterial infections of the ears, throat, sinuses or lungs which must be treated with antibiotics. In general you should: • get plenty of rest so your body can use its energy to fight the cold • staying at home will keep you from spreading germs • drink plenty of liquids like herbal tea or hot broth/vegetable/tomato soups. Avoid foods or drinks with caffeine which can keep you from getting enough sleep Runny Nose and Sneezing- if you have post nasal drip, gargle to keep from getting a sore throat. Drink extra fluids. (avoid sugary and high calorie drinks) Use saline nasal sprays or nasal irrigation • Tablet Nasorest-P once/twice daily may reduce the amount of mucous. • Humidify the rooms you are in most or your whole house if possible. • Do steam inhalation once or twice daily Cough-Coughing is how your body gets rid of debris and mucus from the airways during a viral infection. Unless your cough is severe or is keeping you from resting at night, it is better not to treat it. A severe cough can be treated with a cough syp, but don’t try to completely stop the cough. There are two types of coughs. Productive and non-productive or dry cough. Non-productive, dry cough. A dry, hacking cough may develop near the end of a cold. Dry coughs that follow viral colds are often worse at night and can last up to several weeks. Take syrup Alex-D for a dry cough. Cough drops can sooth an irritated throat, but most don’t affect the cough. Productive cough. A productive cough is one that brings up mucus from the back of the throat or the lungs. Productive coughs should not be suppressed to the point they no longer bring up mucus. Use syrup Alex. Drink lots of water if you have a productive cough. Head and Body Aches- Take tablet dolo-650 mg for fever once or twice daily
