Dear Doctor, I would like to know how exactly an anti depressant works? Primarily if the course duration for the medication is for 6 months and after that it needs to be tapered down, I would like to know whether the medicine does the job to permanently restore the chemical imbalance in the brain or it just bring it to normal balance and the person can be subject to another episode during a stressful situation after the course of the medicine. I am asking this as this is a vital information that I am not able to find answers to as I am dealing with a depression affected patient at home and would like to get more education in the background of this treatment and how long is the effect of antidepressants going to stay with the patient. Request a genuine help. Thanks and regards.

A panic attack is a sudden episode of intense fear that triggers severe physical reactions when there is no real danger or apparent cause. Panic attacks can be very frightening. When panic attacks occur, you might think you're losing control, having a heart attack or even dying. Many people have just one or two panic attacks in their lifetimes, and the problem goes away, perhaps when a stressful situation ends. But if you've had recurrent, unexpected panic attacks and spent long periods in constant fear of another attack, you may have a condition called panic disorder. In many cases Panic disorder comes along with Agoraphobia, when there is fear of travelling away from home, crowds, places where there are no exits like lifts, Although panic attacks themselves aren't life-threatening, they can be frightening and significantly affect your quality of life. But treatment can be very effective. Consult a Psychiatrist and get remedy. All the best for you.

You will need to take medication to control your blood pressure. I suggest you consult your doctor and get your blood pressure checked regularly. Do not discontinue, alter, modify or change any of the medications without the doctor's approval. Complications of untreated hypertension are stroke, heart attack, brain haemorrhage, etc. Other things you can do along with taking medication (NOT as replacement for medication) is restriction of salt in your diet, avoid oily fatty food, some exercise on a daily basis, yoga, meditation and deep breathing. Cultivate a hobby. Spend time with friends and family.

Hi I am sorry that you are suffering so much. Suddenly stopping the medication can result in recurrence of depression ab nd hence it is recommended that it should be gradually reduced and stopped only under professional supervision. The side effects of nexito usually decreases over a period. I would recommend that you take in at night if it is causing drowsiness. Difficulties in concentration and memory can also be a symptom of depression instead odd side-effect. If you continue to have sieges with nexito consult your psychiatrist who can change your medication thanks.

How mach alcohol can someone over so safely drink, and does aur tolerance change with again?

Ph. D - Psychology
Psychologist,
Dear , one should not take more than 60 ml of alcohol per day. Over intake of alcohol is responsible for brain damage, muscles damage, hands and feet's tremble. And yes, the tolerance will automatically change.

Dear user, Anger and aggression are emotions. Anger comes when you become irritated. Irritation happens when you don't like something, or when something is repeated. As anger is an emotion, it should be vent out. You should be able to throw anger out instead of controlling it. But more perfect will be, know the frustrating situations and stop being emotional. If practiced properly, you will not get irritated at those circumstances at all. Those techniques are much easier to understand. Take care.

Your father might be indulging in this relationship due to various reasons, which you can understand after few years. Does he fulfill the responsibility of a father, does he abuse you. I can understand your mom s depression. Take them to a psychiatrist to discuss about this extra marital issue. Do not have any violent thoughts with him. He is a person who needs to be analyzed and helped.
