I am 20 years old and I am getting backache when I stand for some time or when I do a little work. So what to do?

I am 20 years old and I am getting backache when I stand for some time or when I do a little work. So what to do?
Back pain is a very common complaint that I am coming across. Nowadays it is due to life style or bad posture. There are many other reasons for back pain like overuse of muscle or any internal disease like spondylitis, infection etc. Many of the problem occurs for which we are not aware. So in general I would advice you for some precautions and treatment that will help you to get cured. Precautions: 1. Avoid forward bending, if required then bend your knees first and then bend forward. 2. Avoid weight lifting. 3. Sit in chairs or car seats with proper back support. 4. Try to sleep in a position that helps you maintain the curve in your basck like sidelying. 5. Get enough vit d from sun as vit d keep bones strong including spine, 6. Drink plenty of water to enhance the inter vertebral disks 7. Avoid standing in the one position for a long time. 8. Try to sleep in a position that helps you maintain the curve in your back. In physiotherapy I have designed one I-care Home program for back and neck pain that patients can do at home. Many of patients have taken this treatment and get cured. Treatment- 1. Apply ice or heat which ever suits you directly to the area of low back pain will decrease swelling and inflammation, and ease your discomfort. Apply it for 10 to 15 minutes only. 2.Relaxing for 5 minutes after ice or heat treatment. Massage - Ask someone to massage your painful area using fingers or thumb. Massage using kneading technique. Slightly press the thumb and start rotating as it helps to induce relaxation, relieve pain, and reduce levels of stress chemicals, such as cortisol and noradrenaline. It will give you pain relief for time being. 3. After massage again relax for 5 min and apply any pain relieving ointment eg - volini or oraflame gel etc. Make sure not to do massage with the gel, it should not penetrate the body. Just a topical application of gel should be done. 4. Again relax your body for 5 minutes and perform some normal back extension and hamstring stretching exercises to get relief from your pain. While performing exercises if pain occurs then would recommend you to stop doing exercise. Massage or slightly rub the painful area. If pain exagerate then you can go for investigation procedures like X ray, blood test (Vit B 12, uric acid, calcium etc) to know the reason. In your case it seem pain is postural so I am sure I-care will give you relief.If you did not understand or have any doubt regarding the I-CARE Plan, please inform or send me an email at swatisagar121@gmail.com. Quadriceps strengthening exercises- Quad Clenches: Lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, Hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short Arcs: Lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight Leg Raise: Lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

Immediate take combiflame one daily for three days. For throat infection do gargles and boiled milk adding turmeric powder sugar & ghee at night. Avoid cold drink and curd etc.

She can do massage by seasame oil one inch above and one inch below the knee for 15 times each point twice daily. And do massage in the hollow portion of the knee and on the shin bone four two inch before the knee.

Dear lybrate-user, Knee joint is the most weight bearing joint of our body. Variety of causes can lead to knee pain of which degeneration and bone loss are rare for a person of your age. Pain may be caused due to Injury or diseases like arthritis. Most common cause is injury. Providing rest and support to knee joint is the first step for all cases. Further management requires information like duration of pain, which side is affected, X-ray to find any injury to structures and any previous history of fall. Roma Das, you are at good age that your body will be able to repair almost all injuries and joint issue. Your duty is to provide support and rest.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. To answer your query, I would actually like to see a few blood investigation reports to understand what exactly is the cause of these symptoms in your case. So kindly get cbc, esr, crp, serum vitamin d, serum electrolytes and thyroid profile. Also best way to increase calcium is to take a diet rich in calcium like milk and milk products, fresh fruits and vegetables, keep your vitamin d levels good because it helps in calcium absorption etc. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. The reason you are unable to sit for anywhere is due to the fact that along with back pain few people suffer from a condition called Coccydynia. The lower end of the vertebral column is inflamed and that bone is called coccyx bone and the condition is called Coccydynia. The conservative management would be to keep ice in that inflamed area during one time in a day and also to sit in a hot water bowl where the penetration of the heat would help to reduce the inflammation. And to reduce the weight falling on the inflammed surface we suggest patients to use air cushion pillow (also called as doughnut pillow) where in the buttock's weight will not fall exactly on the painful tail bone and that would automatically reduce the pain.

Do consult neuro physiotherapist and have ift and laser therapy for 12 days followed by cervical and shoulder mobilisation and stretching exercises once ain subsides regularly avoid pillows use firm hard. D even mattress best wishes.

Hi lybrate-user. Good to know that you have cut back the amount of alcohol. Please send me the reports of your liver function tests. And did you get an endoscopy done. • Bhujang Asana -- Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up.
