Hi, I am sahil 23 year old male. I have back lower back pain from more than 3 years. Kindly guide me what to do for it?

Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana – Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back Stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day. Do the cat/cow stretch. Get on all fours, with your arms straight and your hands directly under your shoulders; your knees hip-width apart.

Hello doctor, I am a auto driver I am driving auto since 8 years Currently i'm suffering from back pain problem But not heavily. It has started 2 months ago I usually drive 6 to 8 hrs a day Please suggest me to take precautions for my back pain for my future health.

Dear lybrate-user ji, namaskar, yes. Long hour sitting is known to cause postural backache. The solution is to avoid it. But whenever possible after 1 or 2 hrs. You should do forward-backward and side bending of the back as well as turning and twisting for 5-10 times. It takes 2-3 minutes only. Also you should learn spine exercises at a physiotherapy center and do them regularly in the morning for 15-20 minutes. You may also use a ls belt while working. When ever you have pain. Do hot fomentation and apply any gel / balm and take ultracet tab. Sos (as and if required) for pain killing. You will certainly settle with regular exercises. Take care.

I am a woman of about 51 years, having diabetes treatment regularly. Once a year, when the season changes from winter to summer in the months of March-April, I get pain in the back followed by acute pain in the lower back side, abdomen, corner of thighs and neck. With time, the pain increases and becomes so acute that I couldn't even move out of my bed without any help. For relief, I take painkillers and hot fomentation regularly but the pain eases a little bit and then again increases. I also get constipation with backache, say I go to pass stools after two days often. It usually happened to me during my young age also but that time, pain remains for two- three days only and after taking lot of bed rest and fomentation, I am relieved. But now the condition is becoming worse day by day. After my periods are stopped in the beginning of 2014, the pain is critical. I regularly take shelcal and calcijoint (once a week) along with diabetes tablet. Kindly guide me what precautions to take and which tablets to continue so that the worse situation doesn't come in the next changing season. Thanks in advance!

I am suffering in cervical spondylosis. Now almost 3 days in a week severe headache feel in the backside of the forehead. Taking Crocin advanced tablet when headache is feel. Please suggest.

Avoid crocin. Tk traction therapy and ultrasonic therapy for few days. Stretching exercises and postures correction must. Avoid toward bending strength exercises in gradually process. After relief.

You should not depend over medication for spondylitis treatment. Just follow the instructions and exercises advised by your doctor. Avoid modern medicines and follow ayurveda treatment for minimal side effects.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. If it is an acute phase of your injury, then you can have bruises and abrasions etc which will settle over a period of time, but make sure there is no bony injury. If you want, you can send me your x ray so that I can have a look and advise you accordingly. Initially: do lots of ice packs at painful site and site of dicolouration. Analgesic spray for local application take analgesic as per your body suitability for 5 - 7 days rest for 3-5 days let me know in 1week - 10 days time about your pain, and discolouration. Most leg pain results from wear and tear, overuse, or injuries in joints or bones or in muscles, ligaments, tendons or other soft tissues. Leg pain can also be caused by blood clots, varicose veins or poor circulation. To relieve mild pain: stay off your leg as much as possible apply an ice pack or bag of frozen peas to the affected area for 15 to 20 minutes three times a day elevate your leg whenever you sit or lie down please go to a physiotherapist if: you have pain during or after walking you have swelling in both legs your pain gets worse your symptoms don't improve after a few days of home treatment you have painful varicose veins if you feel the pain is from muscle cramp then you need to drink a lot of water because poor fluid intake (dehydration) may predispose to cramps also low blood levels of either calcium or magnesium directly cause cramps.

I'm feeling sleepy all day. I have loss 5kgs weight in last two weeks. And my knees are paining so much since last one month. Can you tell me why is it so?

Advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

It looks like you are anaemic. If you have back pain after you sit for long hours then it is due to your haemoglobin levels as it is important to check that. Anaemia always leads to the symptoms of being tired and also having back / leg pain though there may not be any pathological reasons for back pain. The lower end of the vertebral column is inflamed and that bone is called coccyx bone and the condition is called Coccydynia. The conservative management would be to keep ice in that inflamed area during one time in a day and also to sit in a hot water bowl where the penetration of the heat would help to reduce the inflammation. And to reduce the weight falling on the inflammed surface we suggest patients to use air cushion pillow (also called as doughnut pillow) where in the buttock's weight will not fall exactly on the painful tail bone and that would automatically reduce the pain.

I am 42 year age person, since one week I am suffering stomach problem and light back pain is there. In summer I am having more pain so give advise any remedy.

Stiffness & pain in back & other joints is quite a common condition. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Any way take ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days you will need other supportive medicines also. Take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Do back (spine) exercises contact me again if need be. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do reply back for private consultation and detailed treatment plan. Pantocid 20mg taken empty stomach should give relief in pain abdomen.

My calf muscles between knee and toe have become very stiff and I am not able to walk. Please help. If I should consult a doctor whether I should go to an orthopaedition or a neurologist.

Massage the calf muscles with herbal or eculyptus oil. Then try this simple but effective acupressure exercise. Press the point on the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from toe in the foot 20 times by pressing and releasing with a blunt edge of a pen. Further rotate your foot clockwise and anticlockwise 10 times. Massage your leg with both hands.

eat foods that are rich in calcium ,magnesium and iron ... calcium and magnesium help regrowth of the bone tissue. iron helps in blood circulation to the injured area so that healing process fastens . you can have all dairy products and fruits like banana ,apple, green leafy vegetables etc... avoid spicy and junk food cos they delay the healing process .
