Hi doctor, I would like to ask about my mother she is retired teacher age is 63 years, recently she had pain in her lower back, when we met the doctor he said it is a pain due to she fell down somewhere. Yes she fell down from our steps 20 years back. Now her pain is not bearable she cannot stand easily or walk properly doctor she only take pain killer due to her bone in L4 and L5 have some gap. Doctor tell me is there any treatment for her.

Goodevening mam I gone through your question. What I feel would help your mother is to first of all get treated for the back pain. Please do a session of ift and ultrasound treatment physiotherapy for about 10 days. Then her pain should come down gradually. It will take about 5 to 7 days for the pain to come down. There will be a couple of exercises to follow after that. The exercises may vary beacuse of the gap that you have between your discs. Do not worry her pain will come down gradually and then she should feel better. Her walking pattern will change only if her pain comes down.

Hi 1. Don't stand in one position for more than half hour, keep moving 2. After every 15 minutes move your toes and keep repeating it as many times as possible. Even when you wear shoes then also slight movement of toes is possible. It will prevent the blood from getting pooled in your veins. 3. After your duty take warm water in a tub and add some common salt in it and dip your feet in that water for about 20 minutes and with a mug just pour the water on your calf muscles. It will help your leg muscles to relax. Follow for 15 days and then give feedback. If it persists then consultation is necessary.

Kindly show me a photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 1 wk, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

For pain take tablet paracetamol 650 mg and if necessary we will have to get an MRI done after clinical examination and I will suggest you to take tablet Neurobion forte twice a day for a month

Keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.
