Your child needs complete care whether it is emotional, psychological or physical. A thorough evaluation of your child’s body and mind is vital at nascent stages. Especially if you observed any complaints by your little one that may require medical help, such as:

1. Frequent headaches
Much like adults, children too can experience headaches that last from 30 minutes to 3 hours. A range of primary or secondary headaches like, migraine, meningitis, sinusitis or tension may affect children due to neurological issues.

2. Blurry vision
If you observe either a vision developmental delay or near-sightedness and farsightedness in your child, it might be related to neurological issues.

3. Slurred Speech
If your child is 7-8 months and is not responding to sounds or cannot babble non-sense words, it calls for a neurological check-up.

4. Motor and Co-ordination Delay
Sometimes babies are unable to perform motor skill activities like crawling, walking or using fingers to grip or hold, such delay requires attention of the parent.

5. Fatigue
Check if your kid has become lazy and decreased his physical activities due to fatigue and tiredness suddenly of late.

6. Abnormal Movements
Common involuntary movements or tics like eye blinking, twitching of nose, grimacing or making sounds is in some cases overlooked. Tourette syndrome is an example of such a tic, which has been evaluated as a neurological issue.

7. Tremors or Seizures
Children are prone to febrile seizures (fits) or tremors along with fever that occur between 6 months and 5 years. These are signs of neurological issues that require an immediate check-up.

8. Numbness in Limbs
Neurological complications in your child’s infancy may also cause joint pain and numbness of arms and legs.

9. Behavioural disorders
A change in behaviour or attitude in your child is noticed if he/she is suffering from attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, school problems, sleep issues, intellectual disability or other neural conditions.

10. Weakness
This symptom is tricky in children, as it may be confused with general tiredness by your human eye. It may be unheard of but many children face trouble in performing easy tasks. A neurological exam may identify the source for treatments.

An underlying problem to the nervous system can cause harm or impairment in the normal growth and development of your kid. Early diagnosis helps in correct care, recovery and prevention of long-term problems. You can opt for a routine neurological examination if you find such symptoms in your child. These exams check the functioning of your child’s brain, spinal cord, nerves that come from the brain and spinal cord and offers accurate diagnosis. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a pediatrician.

I am feeling partial numbness on my right toe from last 15 days. I had a long drive just before that and that cause. Numbness on almost on foot but that gone away after few hrs and that is usual. I detected with pre diabetic last year but with few changes that recovered.

Sir/maam. I get severe migraine pain. How to get a instant relief because being in school it distracts me from studies.

1.Take crocin Pain relief one Tablet sos after food up to a maximum of three tablets daily at the time of attack, apply ice pack, massage scalp/temple 2.Drink plenty of water and take rest. 3. Avoid stress, anxiety, depression, agitation, exposure to loud noise, bright light, strong smell inadequate sleep, continuous use of cell phone since it precipitates migraine attack 4.Avoid salted /processed food, aged cheese, excess tea/coffee/alcoho (red wine)/caffeinated beveragesl. Don’t skip/postpone your meal, avoid hunger since it triggers the attack 5. Go for regular exercise, reduce weight if over weight 6. Practice yoga, meditation, deep breathing exercise to calm your mind, control your emotion and relieve you from stress 7. If You have chronic migraine, you have to take migraine prophylaxis like propranolol/ vasograin after consulting physician 8. Consult neurologist to exclude other causes of headache and if required, take CT scan of brain.

My mother had migraine problem since last 15 years. Now this problem is going very major. Doctors said do spinal fluid test. After this test,will there be any problems?

dear ,u have not mentioned clearly the symptoms,,as to at what times headache occurs,whether associated with vomiting sensation..whether unilateral or bilateral..... a CT scan of head would be preferable before doing spinal fluid test ...the spinal fluid test is safe...one can experience heaviness in head for some hours after spinal fluid test ..remain in lying down position for 1/2 - 1 hour after the procedure

I am 19 years old I have headache for 4 months and it is not stopping I think its a turn to migraine so I'm suffering from pain now doctor.

1. Take one tablet of crocin advance as and when required after food up to a maximum of 3 tablets daily, 2. Drink plenty of water 3. Take adequate rest 4. Have adequate sound sleep in the night for 7-8 hours if you have recurrent attack of headache1. It could be a tension headache due to anxiety/stress, depression inadequate sleep, low bp/high bp, migraine, prolonged use of cell phone/computer, chronic anaemia, refractive error, chronic sinusitis, organic brain lesion 2. Avoid stress, physical and mental exertion, have adequate sound sleep for 7-8 hours daily in the night 3. Go for regular exercise 4. Practice yoga, meditation and deep breathing exercise to calm your mind, control your emotion and relieve stress 5. Check for refractive error, sinusitis hemoglobin, bp 6. Avoid prolonged use of cell phone/computer 7. Consult neurologist to rule out other causes of headache, if required take a ct scan of head to exclude any brain lesion 8. If it is migraine you have to take migraine prophylactic drug after consulting neurologist.

A common neurological syndrome, Migraine is characterized by altered bodily perceptions, severe pounding headaches, nausea and irritability. This pounding or pain usually begins in the forehead, the side of the head or around the eyes and gradually gets worse. Bright lights or loud noises can worsen the condition. The headache can last for two hours or even up to two or three days.

Causes

Change in weather conditions, missing a meal, stress, alcohol and certain types of food items are considered to be common causative factors of Migraine. About 50% of women claim that their menstrual periods happen to be a significant trigger. Additionally, allergic reactions, exposure to loud noises or certain odors, smoking, or long exposures to computer screens/televisions could lead to Migraine attacks.

Symptoms

  • Nausea and vomiting

  • Headache

  • Irritability

  • Depression or euphoria

  • Fatigue

  • Excessive sleepiness

  • Craving for certain food items

  • Altered mood

  • Constipation or diarrhoea

  • Increased urination

  • Stiff muscles (especially in the neck)

Ayurvedic View

The traditional science of Ayurveda does not regard Migraine as a case of prolonged headaches. On the contrary, it considers this condition to be caused by deep-rooted problems, including a sensitive nervous system and impaired digestion.

Improper diet and lifestyle causes aggravation of Pitta (Ayurvedic humor representing Fire) in the body. In an aggravated state, Pitta impairs digestion, leading to production of digestive impurities (known as ama). This ama gets stored in the manovahi strotas (mind channels), thereby becoming the cause for pains in migraine.

A sensitive nervous system lowers the ojas (energy) in the body. Ojas is the essence of all body tissues and provides strength to the nervous system and body. If you have a strong nervous system, you are able to fight against problems and carry on with your work with a healthy mind. Lowering of ojas causes migraine-like problems.

Ayurvedic treatment of Migraine therefore is centered on the pacification of Pitta Dosha, and restoration of digestive function in the body. Nervine tonics are also recommended to enhance the ojas, relax the mind and give strength to the nervous system.

Diet & Lifestyle Advice

  • Avoid hot, spicy foods, fermented foods, white sugar, white flour products, and sour or citrus fruits, because they aggravate the Pitta in your body.

  • Drink more water and eat more fiber, fruits and vegetables, and whole grains.

  • Avoid excessive sugar or salt, refined foods, animal products (meats and dairy), caffeine, tea, and alcohol, as these items will further lead to aggravation of Pitta.

  • Avoid direct exposure to the sun, as migraine headaches are predominantly a Pitta disorder and can be triggered by the hot sun.

  • Head massage with Bhringraj Oil is also beneficial. This massage gives a calming effect to your nervous system.

  • Headaches caused due to tension and worry can be alleviated through deep breathing and relaxation, especially in a lying down position in a quiet place. Inverted postures, or those where the head is lowered briefly, increase oxygen to the brain and can reduce headache-causing strain.

Home Remedies

  • If there is a burning sensation with you migraine headache, apply a paste of ground clay or sandalwood powder mixed with rose water.

    In case of migraine headache due to inflamed sinuses, inhale steam with vinegar added to the water.

  • Mix ¼ teaspoon of clove powder with 1 teaspoon of cinnamon oil. Apply this paste on the affected area for 20-30 minutes.

Migraine is completely curable by ayurveda. Avoid the things which you r do not like. Avoid spicy food. Do not sleep during day. Avoid late night dinners. Try to identify the common thing after which your headache comes. Improve your digestion. Do regular exercises.

I am giving some health tips for Migraine headache •1.You can turn off light for some time •2.Apply hot or cold compresses to your head or neck. •Ice packs have a numbing effect, which may dull the sensation of pain. •Hot packs and heating pads can relax tense muscles. •3.Warm showers or baths may have a similar effect. •4.You can take Tea or coffee( but not excess) 5.Sleep well Here are some tips to encourage sound sleep. My wife age 42 years suffering from problem in respiration properly in some specific conditions. In high temperature and some times in tension she feels she can not breath properly and she can not breath with nostrils, she feels uneasy in this situation. What can be the problem. She also get up in a shock while in deep sleep if any body disturbs her sleep and cry in a very hostile manner. In a few seconds she get normal. 42 is perimenopausal time, means a few years before and after the periods stop at age ranging from 40-50 but women do live a healthy life till 100+with age related problems only. During this phase called menopausal syndrome the woman may suffer from either of these 5 symptoms / few of symptoms / none of symptoms. 1) periods stop & reproductive hormones decline and she is more prone to heart attacks 2) osteoporotic bones, hollow bones with less calcium 3) depression and empty nest syndrome as her own children are either married or leading their own lives and she feels unwanted 4) organs sag like skin shows some wrinkles, there is tendency to have urinary symptoms as bladder has less power in its muscles to retain urine for longer hours. 5) tendency to put on weight @ at least 1/2 kg per year. The woman can keep busy with her own hobbies and skills, she can continue to exercise & be careful about diet. Take supplements of calcium and vitamin d & multivitamins. Eat lots of fresh seasonal vegetables and fruits according to her constitution, drink toned milk & curds & reduce salt, sugar & fats. Get her checked for heart and bllod tested for lipids & sugar. Good to know that your own doctor has declared her as normal. Reassure her and this passing phase will be over soon.

Suffering from seizures for the past 5 years makes you an epilepsy patient. The causes can be numerous, starting from infection to local lesions. It is mandatory that you get yourself diagnosed properly for the underlying cause and strictly follow the antiepileptic medications that have been prescribed to you. Patients do recover completely and can live a normal life without depending on drugs. Seizures are indeed a cause for concern as it can be life threatening at times. Sometimes there are triggering factors that induce seizures. So I would advise you to look for such factors and avoid them. Consult a neurologist if you haven't. Take care.
