Morbid jealousy, anxiety and depression are mental disorders and not mental diseases. Therefore mental disorders can be cured with the help of psychotherapy, meditation, exercise and lifestyle changes without medicines. Post a private question to me with every detail. I will help you. Take care.

You asked: I am 18 year old, female. I have been suffering from stammering since childhood and normally with my family and other people I speak normally and hardly stutter but in public places when I am in situation such as in interviews, presentation etc I am hardly able to speak and sometimes the situation gets worse as I make faces while speaking and my stomach also squeezes. Go out of breath. So recently I was thinking to join a public speaking course or should I see speech therapist but I am confused as will it help me to improve?

Hi Tanya, Thanks for writing in. Welcome to the forum. From what you are saying, there appears to be a very strong component of social anxiety. This can be handled with psychotherapy, medicines or both depending upon the exacts nature and severity of the symptoms. Public speaking courses and speech therapy are also likely to help with respect to the specific issue of stammering in public places. But with regard to the several other aspects of this problem, speaking to a mental health expert is a good idea. Take care!

Here, I am going ask a question about an illusion. I don't know it's true or not. My relative is working on govt job, he used to drink. He is about 48. From the last 4 days. He felt that there are some spirits or other things and those are talking about his household matters. And about other things. 4 days ago he felt the voice of those things in his ears. Next day at evening those were little bit visible to him. Then he realized that there were 10 or more things. And those were died years ago. Some about 4 other 5 years others 20 years ago. He never had it before. He was like they r gonna talking about his every thing and saying to kill him. Even when we called him on phone, he said those were listening us. Like if we said they r fake it's illusion. Those magical things replied it's true like that things. All people like our relatives were saying that it's black magic. Some people said that some spills hve been put on him. They said these type of things. We thought that maybe it's because of his drinking habit. But from last 5 days. He didn't touch whisky or other thing. Then he went to gurudwara and came home by chanting the name of some baani. He said he was listening the same chanted things when he used to stop chanting. Then last day. We went to a man suggested by people. He talked to dad on phone. And did some things. Then dad said those were starting going far. And today he didn't see anything Is it true that it's because of black magic?

Sufficient speech stimulus is needed for speech lang development of the child. Talk, chat with her as much as possible. N do give time for her. Coz child imitates the speech of her familiar person quikly rather thn any other" s. So keep that in mind, this is the crucial age of speech lang development.

He dint even removed me still from social networking sites i.es, Facebook and watsapp. He was caring and understanding alot that made me loved him seriously and truly. I can't forget him anyhow now. Also I miss him alot but I can't tell him whats there actually in my mind. It's like I can't concentrate anywhere he's always on my mind. After break up he also txt me 2-3 times but I dint replied him. But still I can't understand y he has kept me on social networking sites if he don't love me. Hi, you are feeling betrayed, hurt, angry and sad over how your boyfriend has distanced himself from you. You are going through a difficult phase in terms of your emotions and maybe hoping he might come back to you again and hence cognitively you are trying to understand why he hasn't disconnected with you over the social network sites. He may have his own reasons to justify his decision and what he does is not in your control. What you can do is understand and get in touch with what's happening to you. Are you happy in this state? what would you like to do now? do you see any future with this guy who is finding it hard to commit and stay in the relationship? how does it matter whether he hasn't deleted your contact from those sites? it's also important to understand that usually boys and girls are in an exploratory phase around this age trying to understand how and with whom they are able to relate, and in this process there are heartaches for some. You have displayed a huge amount of courage by not replying back to his messages and it shows you value yourself, which is really good. This time is very critical for you in terms of your career or future goals, so start thinking about your goals and make efforts to work towards them. You can also block him from your networks if it gives you some amount of relief/freedom and also allow yourself to feel your pain. Gradually you will be out of it and looking life in the face with renewed zeal. So take care of yourself and give yourself your attention.

How Smoking is Harmful For Your Health?

MBBS, AFIH, PGDMLS, MD-HRM, MD-HM
General Physician, Gurgaon
How Smoking is Harmful For Your Health?

The risks and harms of smoking are pretty much common knowledge to most people. Especially when the pack of cigarettes practically screams it out to you in bold letters. Yet, as statistics would say, smoking in young adults has been on the rise in the recent years. What makes them take this step? Maybe it is peer pressure, or maybe they do it for the thrill of it. Every country takes a great initiative in educating their population, yet some fail to understand the complexity of the situation.

Here are some of the reasons that will tell you that even a single puff of the deadly tobacco can severely harm your health and general well-being

  1. Cigarette smoking is the leading cause of cancer. It can cause cancer in most organs of the body. Smoking cigarettes can cause the following
    • Nose cancer
    • Throat cancer
    • Larynx cancer
    • Mouth cancer
    • Oesophageal cancer
    • Lung cancer
    • Liver cancer
    • Cervix cancer
    • Stomach cancer
    • Kidney cancer
    • Colorectal cancer
    • Cervical cancer etc.
  2. Smokers are more prone to respiratory diseases because smoking is capable of compromising the immune system of the body.
  3. Autoimmune diseases such as Crohn’s disease and rheumatoid arthritis are more likely to occur in smokers as their immune system is compromised by smoking.
  4. Smoking has been linked to diabetes type 2. This type of diabetes develops during adulthood. The more cigarettes a person smokes, the more likely is the person to develop this disease.
  5. Smoking puts you at risk of developing several heart diseases such as angina, heart attacks, etc. because the nicotine in the body results in the lowering of good cholesterol. This causes deposition of bad cholesterol in the arteries.
  6. Tobacco can cause tooth decay and several other oral problems such as gingivitis and other problems of the gum.
  7. Cigarettes constrict your blood vessels. This constant narrowing of blood vessels can cause erectile dysfunction in men and leads to the infertility in both men and women. It also makes them difficult to achieve orgasms.
  8. You might find yourself craving for cigarettes when you’re stressed out. This is because the effect of nicotine in the cigarettes is lowered by the hormone produced during a stressful situation, i.e. cortisone.
  9. Nicotine that causes momentary central nervous system stimulation can cause addiction and dependence. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a General Physician.

Mix these with 100 ml water and drink it every morning and night.(same dose). Do not stop your allopathic medicines. Ask your doctor whether he can taper it down if you feel alright.

Hello, in majority of the cases, the main cause is stress which makes the people intolerant, short-temper and increases the irritability. Which makes their personal life difficult. Take homoeopathic medication - schwabe's bacopa monierri 1x/ thrice daily and kali phos. 6x/ once at night - take them for 4 weeks. Management: there are few yoga poses which helps in calming your mind and relieves stress. Exercises: practice shavasana or corpse pose as it looks like a dead body. If practiced correctly and with full efforts, can relax every body part, relaxing not only the body but also the mind: spread the legs one to two feet apart, the toes are turned outwards, the heels facing each other, a comfortable distance apart. Bring the arms a little away from the body, palms turned upward. Relax the neck and allow it to turn to the side if it is more comfortable. Close the eyes and focus the attention on the body, breathing normally. Begin focusing each body part and relaxing it, then moving on. Keep the mind focused on relaxation, the breath should be normal. Relax the whole body. (the mind and body are deeply connected. If the mind is occupied by thoughts and worries then the shavasana will be unsuccessful. Therefore one has to acquire the stability of the mind along with the stability of the body.) anuloma involves inhaling through both nostrils together and exhaling each breath alternately between the left and right nostrils. The thumb of the right hand is used to manipulate the right nostril, while the pinky and ring finger are used to control the left nostril. There are many other poses of yoga like balasan, setu bandha sarvangasan, uttanasan, garudasan, savasana, triconasana, viprita karani, marjaryasana, dhyana, bhujangasana, anulom-vilum, pranayam, etc. But first learn these under a qualified yoga-teacher as many poses are prohibited in certain diseases or medical conditions! another stress-buster can be getting involved in any of your hobbies (may be a childhood hobby which you used to enjoy a lot!) - dancing, singing, painting, listening to soothing music, playing musical instruments, etc.

Tremors, feeling anxious or nervous, sense of panic, sweating, increased heartbeat, feeling of impending doom, stomach discomfort, dizziness etc are signs of anxiety. These can be debilitating. If the anxiety us overwhelming, consult a psychiatrist at the earliest. With the right medication and counseling, it is likely your symptoms will improve. Other than that, try yoga, deep breathing, meditation, moderate exercise, progressive muscular relaxation and guided meditation.

Masturbation is a normal act performed to satisfy one's own sexual desires in absence of another sexual partner. It's very natural for a boy of your age to masturbate and there is nothing to be anxious about. Our testis produces sperms and this process takes few weeks. Whenever one is not masturbating, these sperms (as semen) will automatically get discharged which one feels as wet dreams at night. Hence discharging them regularly by masturbation is not bad. BUT doing it regularly though not bad can evoke anxiety in you as you r having. You better spend your time with anything productive work. And definately masturbate sometimes.

Brain absorbing words specially in reading for increasing manner what factors are involved and what we do for improvement ?

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Your brain is like a muscle. You need to exercise it regularly. The exciting thing is that you don’t have to be a millionaire to increase your brain capacity. All you need to do is invest a little time to regularly train your brain. So what can you do? Here are 10 simple ways you can increase your brain power and improve your intelligence! 1. Do something new When you experience something ‘new’ you actually ‘stimulate’ your brain! Don’t get stuck in a rut doing the same old things – the only way to change the structure of your brain is to do something new. This creates new neural pathways, increasing your intelligence. You could take a new route to work, try a new recipe for dinner, or even a new form of exercise – mix it up! 2. Exercise regularly It’s been proven that regular exercise helps to increase brain function and enhances neurogenesis. This means that every time you exercise you are creating new brain cells! Get off the couch and get moving! Your brain will thank you for it :) 3. Train your memory How often do you hear people say “I wish I had a better memory?’ Yet no-one does anything about this! If you discipline yourself to memorise phone numbers and other important numbers (passport, credit card, insurance, driving license) you will start to see a marked improvement in your memory 4. Be curious Instead of taking everything at face value, get into the habit of questioning everyday things/products, services that you come into contact with. By being ‘curious’ and questioning everything, you force your brain to innovate & create new ideas. Curiosity may have killed that cat, more importantly it created super important things like electricity and computers! 5. Think positive Stress & anxiety kill existing brain neurons and also stop new neurons from being created. Research has shown that positive thinking, especially in the future tense, speeds up the creation of cells and dramatically reduces stress & anxiety. Try and get a handle on negative thoughts and make an effort to replace them with positive ones. 6. Eat healthy Our diets have a HUGE impact on brain function. Our brains consume over 20% of all nutrients & oxygen that we consume – so remember to feed your brain with the good stuff! (i.e. Fresh fruit and veg & plenty of OMEGA 3 oils found in oily fish) 7. Read a book Reading relieves tension & stress (brain-cell killers) because it’s a form of escapism. Research has also shown that using your imagination is a great way to train your brain because you force your mind to ‘picture’ what you are imagining. Reading is a great way to trigger your imagination! 8. Get enough sleep Sleep is like a mini detox for the brain. This is when your body regenerates cells and removes all the toxins that have built up during the day. Get to bed between the hours of 9 pm and midnight to benefit from the most effective hours of sleep! 9. Avoid using the GPS Gone are the days of map reading! Geo Satellite Navigation may have made our lives easier, it has also made our brains lazier and less efficient at the same time! Go back to the old school and use a map to navigate every now and then (this exercises the part of your brain responsible for understanding spatial relationships). 10. Stop Using the calculator Remember back at school when we were taught to use our brains to do simple sums like times tables? It’s incredible how we now rely on devices like smart-phones and laptops to calculate really simple equations. Resist the urge to work things out using an external device – and use the device you were born with – your brain!

Hi, I can understand your concern. You can get healthy on your own, it does work. You just have to want it. And really fight for it. And of course when your trying to recover on your own, its not as easy. When your at hospital and have proffessional help. Its easier. You have a meal plan, you have people watching you, making sure you eat. Do not exercise. They make sure you gain weight. They help you recover. While your trying to recover on your own, the most important thing is that you have support. That is very important. Its almost impossible, if you have no one you can talk to, no one who will be there beside you when things are hard. Or someone to remind you thatrecovery is worth it. Someone to make you smile. Whether thats your mum, best friend, boyfriend. Etc etc (but I do not know, when your sick its so easy to lose contact with people. And if you have lost contact. Its just to take contact with people again, and let them know your trying to recover and hope that they can help you, support you.) recovery is not easy, its a mental battle everyday. And facing your body is not easy while in recovery. Ok. The best thing to do is start off small. 3 meals a day, and then add on snacks. So you have 5-6 meals a day. That is the best thing. Its good for the metabolism anyway. Its just healthy to eat 5-6 meals a day. And when your eating 5-6 meals a day aim for 2500-3000 calories. Thats what you need to gain weight. But start off with roughly 1000-1200 calories, and then raise it. Really, calories should not be counted. But when your making a meal plan, then I guess you should know how mcuh your eating. Find foods that you like. It makes eating easier. So. I guess thats up to you to decide what you like and want to eat. But I suggest to eat full fat foods. It makes gaining weight easier. And that is what is needed in recovery. Do not forget that my best tips in recovery, are to hide the mirrors. Trust me, it does not help. Just have a small one so you can do your make up, brush your teeth, see your face. But hide the llong mirrors. Get rid of the scale. The number on the scale does not define you. Ok. So if your recoverying on your own. Yeah, it might be good to see if your gaining weight or losing weight, but decide a day. Like monday morning, once a week you check. And thats it. Hide the scale. And do not step on it unless its monday morning. You have to be tough with yourself. You have to be your own guard. And do not listen to the voice in your head. There will be bad days. Days when you just want to give up because you feel fat, or eveyrthing is hard. And thats normal, thats part of recovery. Thats the hard times. Thats when you need to be 10 times stronger, and just eat anyway. I also suggest to make food dates - i. E. Plan to have brunch with a friend, or go for lunch with someone. Go to dinner, or invite someone for dinner. Go out for frozen yoghurt etc etc. In the end you need to challenge yourself, and it also makes sure that you eat. It makes it easier if your with someone when your eating. You should consult a professional. You can consult with me for counselin and therapy regarding this. All the best.
