-Dolo-650 mg twice or thrice daily can be taken to lower a fever . -Wear loose fitting clothes and don’t overdress. Overdressing can cause temperature to rise further. -Tepid water (85 F [30 C]) baths may help bring down a fever -The body should be cooled with a wet sponge. -Fever can cause severe dehydration. DO NOT GET SCARED OF H1N1medias are creating lot of panic in the society, and getting the sms stating that there is a prevention in the homeopathy and influnzinum is the medicine for preventtion of H1N1, it is not the fact, homeopathy treat's the person not the disease, and there is the concept of Genus Epidemicus IN HOMOEOPATHY,we have to take the current disease picture and have decide on the medicineplease do not get panic,What Is Swine Flu?Swine flu, also known as the H1N1 virus, made headlines in 2009 when it was declared a pandemic (Dandagi & Byahatti, 2011). Pandemics are contagious diseases affecting people throughout the world or on multiple continents at the same time. H1N1 has already been seen in 74 countries across the globe. (Dandagi & Byahatti, 2011).H1N1 is highly contagious, allowing it to spread quickly from person to person. A simple sneeze may cause thousands of germs to spread through the air. The virus can linger on tables and surface areas like door knobs, waiting to be picked up.The swine flu causes many symptoms similar to regular influenza. Diagnosis can be made by testing a swab of mucus from the nose or throatRisk Factors for Swine FluSwine flu is unusual because it does not target the same age group as the rhino virus (typical flu). The disease focuses on young adults. This is unusual because most flu viruses attack those who are elderly or very young. Some form of immunity to swine flu may exist in the elderly due to previous flu exposures.Other risk factors for swine flu include:• compromised immune system (from a disease such as AIDS)• pregnancy• past history of infectionsCause of Swine FluThe swine flu is caused by a strain of influenza virus that usually only infects pigs. Unlike typhus, which can be transmitted by lice or ticks, the main transmission is not from pigs to people, but rather from person to person.Swine flu is very contagious. The disease is spread through saliva and mucus particles. People may spread them by:• sneezing• coughing• touching a germ-covered surface and then touching their eyes or noseSymptoms of Swine FluThe symptoms of swine flu are very much like those of regular influenza. They include:• chills• fever• coughing• sore throatDiagnosing Swine FluA diagnosis is made by sampling fluid from those with swine flu. To take a sample, a doctor or nurse may take a swab of the nose or throat. The swab will be analyzed using various genetic and laboratory techniques to identify the specific type of virus.Treating Swine FluAs of 2009, the CDC has recommended healthcare workers in contact with swine flu or suspected swine flu patients should take precautions. Precautions against infection include:• wearing gloves and/or gowns• using eye protection• wearing face masksIn known cases of swine flu, patients should be isolated to prevent the spread of H1N1.Outlook for Swine FluSevere cases of swine flu can be fatal. Most fatal cases are in those with underlying conditions, such as HIV/AIDS. The majority of people with swine flu recover and can anticipate a normal life expectancy.Preventing Swine FluEasy ways to prevent swine flu (in addition to being vaccinated) include:• washing hands frequently with soap or hand sanitizer• not touching your nose, mouth, or eyes because the virus can survive on telephones, tabletops, etc.• staying home from work or school if you are ill to keep others healthy• Avoiding large gatherings when swine flu is in season. Flu season shifts a little bit from year to year, but in the United States it generally peaks in January, although it often starts in October and runs until as late as May. It is possible to get the flu year-round.

All About Hives

Diploma In Dermatology And Venerology And Leprosy (DDVL), MBBS
Dermatologist, Rewari
All About Hives

If stressed, consuming certain food and medications can trigger skin rashes. This kind of rash is called hives. It is also known as urticaria. Anyone can be affected by hives, at least 20% of people are affected by hives at some time or the other in their lives. The itching could be severe or mild. It starts as a patch of scaly white skin that develops into red welts over time. To make sure the itching does not worsen, scratching, emotional stress, alcoholic drinks and exercise should be avoided.

Symptoms:

  1. Itchy bumps that are raised and are either red or flesh coloured
  2. If the hive is pressed in the middle, the skin whitens this symptom is called blanching.
  3. The hive formation can appear anywhere, disappear and then reappear somewhere else.

Common Triggers:

  1. Certain food like shellfish, eggs, peanuts and other nuts
  2. Certain medicines like antibiotics, ibuprofen and aspirin
  3. Insect bites or stings
  4. Physical causes like pressure, sun exposure, cold, exercise and heat
  5. Latex
  6. Blood transfusions
  7. Bacterial infections
  8. Pet allergens
  9. Viral infections like the common cold, hepatitis and infectious mononucleosis
  10. Certain plants like poison ivy and poison oak
  11. Pollen

Treatment:
There is no distinct cure for hives. But you can control its symptoms in the following ways:

  1. Antihistamines help in blocking histamines, which cause the allergy symptoms. Non sedating or low sedating Antihistamines will be mostly recommended by your doctor.
  2. If episodes of hives are several, it may require limited treatment with prednisone. Prednisone will be able to lessen the symptoms.
  3. If the symptoms get severe enough so much so that it swells up your tongue and you have problem breathing, then the doctor might prescribe an epinephrine. However, these symptoms can mean another thing, an anaphylaxis shock. Epinephrine is the only treatment for an anaphylaxis shock.

Prevention:
If what caused hives to break out is figured out, then measures should be taken to avoid or eliminate the triggers.

  1. Avoid eating food items that triggered the symptoms in the first place
  2. If harsh soaps, frequent bathing cause hives, they should be avoided
  3. Tight clothing should be avoided
  4. If cold triggers hives, then wear warm clothing, wrap a scarf and do not swim in cold water.
  5. Avoid sun exposure and wear sunblock
  6. If a specific medication is causing the hives, inform your doctor. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dermatologist.

Does eating papaya stops pregnancy? Does this leads to abortion if eaten during pregnancy?

Does eating papaya stops pregnancy? Does this leads to abortion if eaten during pregnancy?
Papaya seeds are suppose to be abortifacient. But they might not directly lead to an abortion. So in case you are pregnant and wish to continue it is best to avoid papaya. However if you donot wish to continue just waiting for papaya to help would not be advisable.
