At some times in the morning when I use to clean my tongue I am getting blood with split . I am very much worried about that .may I konw the reason and what could I do for that.

Diploma in Anesthesia, MBBS
General Physician, Hyderabad
If the blood is not when you cough or vomit or belch and it is seen only in the morning while cleaning the tongue, it is coming from the tongue, so clean the tongue smoothly and softly, you need not worry about it

Pain in tooth in the same area where root canal was done previously and cap placed

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Sir I need to see your Xrays before commenting. We do not know if your gums are inflammed or your tooth is causing pain. If it's the gums then I suggest scaling at a local dentist. If it's the tooth then maybe a re-Rct with an endodontist.Take Combiflam for pain relief and tab Flagyl 200 mg three times a day for three to five days.

To avoid tooth decay and gum disease due to plaque build-up, daily flossing is highly recommended.

My all teeths are week at the age of just 39 years. I have also removed my all four dide cheeinh teeth big problem in taking food pls help me out.

MDS - Orthodontics
Dentist, Kolar
Its is because youe gums are weak and it might be a case of localised aggrasive periodontitis. Consult periodontist once and get deep scaling and root planing done if required flap surgery done u will be better.

Hi'sir /mam I'm suffering from blisters on tongue. Please tell me any solutions. I'm fasting everyday so. I can eat food.

BDS
Dentist, Gwalior
There are tubes of gels that can be applied directly on blister to relive pain or other problem. But since you are on fasting, let them cure by own with time. But if it doesn't, you must visit your local general practitioner.

How Omega-3 Can Get Rid of Your Gum Woes?

Post Graduate Fellowship In Micro Dentistry, Esthetic Dentistry, BDS

How Omega-3 Can Get Rid of Your Gum Woes?

Omega-3 fatty acids are 'good' fats that reduce cholesterol levels and 'bad' saturated fats from your body. They belong to a family of unsaturated fatty acids and are necessary for the normal functioning of the body. The body cannot synthesize omega-3 fatty acids; hence, you can get it from sources such as salmon which provides omega-3 fatty acids known as ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) and vegetable oils such as soybean oil, rapeseed oil and flaxseed oil that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid).

How can they help in gum problems?

A study, published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association, was based on a survey called the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, researched and studied the effects of consumption of DHA on dental health. After studying data from over 9000 participants, researchers found that the people, who consumed the highest amount DHA amongst all, were 20% less prone to developing periodontitis.

Periodontitis is an inflammatory gum disease caused by bacteria that accumulate around the gums. It causes the gums to recede, leading to the development of gaps between the gums and teeth and loss of bones that provide support to the teeth. Periodontitis may even cause tooth loss.

The research showed that even consuming a small amount of omega-3 fatty acids offered protection against gum diseases. Omega-3 fatty acids have anti-inflammatory properties, which help relieve inflammation of gums that occurs in periodontitis. Researchers from Kentucky University found that omega-3 fatty acids have anti-bacterial properties, which prevent and cure gum diseases. Gum diseases have been related to other conditions such as heart disease, pneumonia and diabetes, hence keeping gum diseases at bay keeps other fatal diseases away as well.

Related Tip: Is it More Important to Brush Your Teeth in the Night Than in the Morning?

I hv some dntl prblm I brushed my teeth evry day so hardly & carefully bt my teeth yellow colour is not change. So what will I do.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
The simplest method of removing minor surface stains is polishing, or micro-abrasion if staining is more intrinsic. Provided that your discolouration is not due to inadequate enamel exposing the dentin, tooth whitening (bleaching) is often the most effective treatment for yellow stained teeth. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply snowdent paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min. Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results.

My sister had a white growth on her tongue which was operated couple of weeks back and biopsy done. Report said No Malignancy. It was diagnosed as Hyperkeratosis. Now, once again the same white growth has come back at the same location. Please suggest treatment. Thanks.

B H M S, MD
Homeopath, Thrissur
Hyperkeratosis is thickening of the outermost layer of the epidermis, often associated with the presence of an abnormal quantity of keratin, and also usually accompanied by an increase in the granular layer. As the corneum layer normally varies greatly in thickness in different sites, some experience is needed to assess minor degrees of hyperkeratosis. It can be caused by vitamin A deficiency or chronic exposure to arsenic. Hyperkeratosis can also be caused by B-Raf inhibitor drugs such as Vemurafenib and Dabrafenib. It can be treated with urea-containing creams, which dissolve the intercellular matrix of the cells of the stratum corneum, promoting desquamation of scaly skin, eventually resulting in softening of hyperkeratotic area. But homoeopathic approach is to improve the immunity which will prevent the recurrence as you had. if your are interested opt for a consultation

I faced with several injury on a upper limp of mouth! My skin bulged? Do you have any remedy for my problem?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

Sir please visit a dentist. You need an examination of the area. If there is no cut or other injury and just swelling then most probably it will become alright with medication.

How to stop Pieria of mouth I am suffering since last two years please send me a solution.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
- use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water or hydrogen peroxide to keep the area clean. Avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums. - eat a balanced diet and limit snacking between meals. Carbohydrates and sugars feed dental plaque. - try an oral irrigation device, commonly known as a" water pick, to clear debris from around the gum line. - have your dentures aligned as needed. - you may need deep cleaning along with surgical curettage or gum strengthening procedure. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser.

My father in law is 63 years old. Nowadays he is facing burning sensation on the tongue. What is this and is the remedy.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
To avoid infection and reduce pain in a first-degree burn on the tongue: rinse the area well with cool water for a few minutes. Remove any dirt or particles that may be on the burn. Wet a clean cloth with cool water and hold it on top of the burn. Suck on ice chips or a popsicle to soothe the pain. Gargle with cool water or salt water. Avoid warm or hot liquids, which could irritate the burn. Take acetaminophen or ibuprofen for pain and inflammation. Sprinkle a few grains of sugar on the tongue to relieve pain.

Good evening - there is only one way to help you - you require a good dental check up - which should be followed by a good and careful oral prophylaxis (cleaning/ scaling) and then efficiently maintaining good oral hygiene by brushing twice daily - after breakfast and after dinner. If you can do warmslaine mouthrinses - 4 to 5 times a day it would add to your relief.

Thank you for your suggestions on my question about rct. Can you please give me some idea about the prices of caps after root canal. Please suggest me dentist also along with prices because I think where I went they are charging more than normal cost.

BDS
Dentist, Mangalore
every dentists will be having different rates in metropolitan cities they'll obviously charge more and rates of crowns also differs because in the whole india there is very less world class dental labs; so the cost of materials is also very high. I think you'll be satisfied with this answer usually 1500-2000 for rcts crowns it 1000- 10k.

My name is unnikishanan I am having pain inside my mouth near the gum of my molar teeth but I did not found any cut or wound. Dear sir /madam please tell me the reason.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
The type of treatment you have for toothache /sensitivity/swelling will depend on the cause of the pain, so your dentist will examine your mouth and may carry out an X-ray to try to identify the problem. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by tooth decay, your dentist will remove the decayed area and replace it with a filling. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by a loose or broken filling, the filling will be taken out, any decay will be removed and a new filling put in place. •If the pulp inside your tooth is infected, you may need root canal treatment. This procedure involves removing the infected pulp and then inserting a special type of filling to seal the tooth and prevent re-infection. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling can't be treated using these methods, or if your tooth is impacted (wedged between another tooth and your jaw), it may need to be removed.

Mere teeth jyada bahar aaye hue hai to kya me unhe bina remove kiye giswa sakata hun Pls.

BDS
Dentist, Mohali
Jo daant bahar hote hain unhe giswana nahi chahiye. Uska ilaaj taar ke saath daant andar karna hota hai. Ap apne nazdiki Orthodontist ka pata kar sakte ho. Orthodontist woh doctor hota hai jo taar (wire) ya surgery ki madad se daanton ko ek line mein karta hai.... is ilaaj ko 2-3 saal b lag sakte hain....
