Dear lybrate user. I can understand. The best time tested method to reduce weight and cholesterol is physical exercise and games along with low fat low carb high fiber diet. There are no short cuts in reducing weight. Regarding cholesterol, raw garlic, honey, lemon, cinnamon, turmeric etc are known to reduce cholesterol. Include them in your daily diet. Your tests came back negative and therefore Your increased Blood pressure, surely could be due to your anxiety. That is also natural. Anxiety, in any kind is supposed to hike your BP by around 30 mmgg. You need to answer your anxiety problem first. For that you should diagnose your type of anxiety with a psychologist, get psychotherapy treatment.

You do not need to worry much about it. Maintain healthy lifestyle which means doing regular physical exercise, morning walk for at least 30 mins for at least 4 days a week. You can join gym also. Avoid stress. While having meal, restrict amount of carbohydrates (rice, sugar, mangoes, banana) and fat (oils, butter, mutton) and take plenty of green leafy vegetables. Do check your blood pressure after 2 months. Wish you good health.

Cholesterol level should be measured at least once every five years in everyone over age 20. The screening test that is usually performed is a blood test called a lipid profile. Experts recommend that men ages 35 and older and women ages 45 and older be more frequently screened for lipid disorders. The lipoprotein profile includes: Total cholesetrol LDL (low-density lipoprotein CHOLESETROL also called "bad"CHOLESTETROL HDL (high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, also called "good" cholesterol) TRIGLYCERIDES (fats carried in the BLOOD from the food we eat. Excess calories, alcohol, or sugar in the body are converted into TRIGLYCERIDES and stored in fat cells throughout the body. High triglycerides and cholesterol can cause atherosclerotic heart disease or narrowed coronary arteries in the heart can cause the symptoms of angina, when theheart muscle is not provided with enough oxygen to function. Decreased blood supply to the brain may be due to narrowed small arteries in the brain or because the larger carotidarteries in the neck may become blocked. This can result in a transient ischmic attack or stroke. Peripheral artery disease describes gradual narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs. During exercise , if the legs do not get enough blood supply, they can develop pain , called claudication . Other arteries in the body may also be affected by plaque buildup causing them to narrow, including the mesenteric arteries to the intestine and the renal arteries to the kidney. Change life style .do meditation, yoga, Go walk daily, do any one physically activity daily i.e.play any game., Avoid fast foods, oily foods, junk foods, alcohol, smoking, fatty foods, non-veg.,avoid stress, take plenty of water in day time. And 1 glass of water before bed at night. use flax oil, omega-3 fatty meal or cap., take .green veg., whole grain. GARLIC,. Cod liver oil. Take anti cholesterol medicines . Cap. I have had this problem for a while but it seems to be getting much worse. I think it is probably due to anxiety but not sure. Whenever I lay down afternoon or at night I can hear and feel my heart beating. It feels as though there is a sledge hammer in my chest pounding back and forth. I can hear and feel every single beat. It makes it impossible to relax and rest. I am now having trouble going to sleep because of it. I am always tired. I experience body aches. I can not do physical activity long enough like my peers.

Dear lybrateuser, -Your problem could be due to anxiety or weakness due to anemia -have a proper balanced , nutritious diet with more of fruits & greenleafy vegetables, whole grains, milk & milk products, beans, nuts, sprouts as they are a good source of energy to keep you going, also have snacks in between main meals to boost your metabolism -do regular exercises like walking, jogging for 30 min ,also do yoga & deep breathing to keep the body & mind healthy & fit -do blood cbc , if hemoglobin is low then take an iron supplement -distress by reading, listening to music, follow a hobby, play an outdoor game -you require a sound sleep for about 7-8 hrs in the night otherwise the body & mind become lethargic & you cannot concentrate well -also get your BP, blood sugar & TSH, T3, T4 done & consult a doctor if not much improvement.

Warning Signs of a Heart Attack Can be Found on Your Eyelids

General Physician (AM)

Warning Signs of a Heart Attack Can be Found on Your Eyelids

A health condition known as xanthelasma (xanthelasma palpebrarum), a sharply demarcated yellowish deposit of fat underneath the skin, usually on or around the eyelids, has been linked to heart disease. These yellow formations occur in the upper or lower eyelid near the inner corner of the eye.
. Br>The study findings were published in the british medical journal.
The link between heart disease and xanthelasma:
Both men and women can suffer from this condition, especially after 40. These yellow growths are the result of cholesterol deposits and indicate a higher level of cholesterol in almost half of the patients affected with this condition.

These growths are soft and painless and do not affect vision. In fact, people with xanthelasma usually seek medical help because these growths are unattractive. Aesthetics is the main reason why people decide to remove them, without considering them as a warning of a more serious condition, and despite their re-emergence after removal.
A recent danish research confirmed the connection between heart disease and xanthelasma. Professor tibjaerg hansen who led the team, came to conclusions that will change the way we see these seemingly harmless growths, which are ignored as irrelevant by both patients and doctors.

Men affected with xanthelasma are at a 12% higher risk of heart attack. Men aged 70-79 are at an even higher risk.

Women with xanthelasma have an 8% higher risk of heart attack, as opposed to those who are not affected.

It has been poved that women have a lower risk of heart disease, and researchers in this study explain that in this particular group of patients, xanthelasma allows accurate prediction of heart disease.

The research concluded that xanthelasma may indicate a heart attack, severe atherosclerosis, heart disease and death, independent of other factors such as high cholesterol, obesity, smoking and high blood pressure.

The presence of xanthelasma cases in each age group indicates an increased probability of heart disease, heart attack and death. Both men and women who have these yellow growths on their eyelids are likely to experience a heart attack, and maybe they will even be life threatened in a 10-year period.

It has been proven that men are more prone to heart disease.

If these yellow growths appear on your eyelids, it is important for you to immediately check your cholesterol levels

Heart - 4 Common Habits That Can Damage it!

Heart - 4 Common Habits That Can Damage it!

Certain habits can cause damage to your heart even if you maintain a healthy diet and exercise regularly. According to researchers, working people having who have a desk job are more prone to suffer from heart conditions due to stress in their work life, lack of proper rest, limited movement, etc. Most of the times you tend to ignore your bad habits as the side effects do not occur immediately but can cause serious damage to your heart. Following are the common bad habits that you should avoid for a healthier heart-

1. Sitting all day
Something as seemingly trivial as it is, sitting all day can have an adverse effect on your heart. According to studies, if your job involves sitting on a desk for more than five hours then you have double the risk of suffering a heart failure compared to a person who has an active lifestyle. Make sure you take at least a five minute walk in an hour to reduce chances of hardening the arteries. A sedentary lifestyle has serious side effects on your overall health too.

2. Stress too much
Stress causes the body to release adrenaline which influences the way your body functions. In that case there might be an increase in heart rate or your blood pressure level. Over time, stress can cause damage to the blood vessels in your heart and increase your risk of sudden stroke or heart attack.

3. Overdoing it on salt
Excessive sodium can spike your blood pressure thereby making your more vulnerable to heart conditions. Processed foods like potato chips, canned vegetables, frozen meals and meats contain a fair amount of sodium which can have an adverse effect on your heart. It is important to take the nutritional value of these foods in account before purchasing it so that you get the ones with lowest amount of sodium.

4. Not getting enough sleep
The heart rate dips when you sleep and goes up and down as a response to your dreams in various stages of your sleep. It is important for your heart to rest as it actively works in your waking hours. Sleep deprivation has similar effects on your heart like stress and can wreck your cardiovascular health. It is of utmost importance to sleep for at 7 hours to keep your heart healthy.
