I had a accident so my teeth become black? what should I do?

BDS
Dentist,
I had a accident so my teeth become black? what should I do?
It looks like your tooth became nonvital due to accident and color turned into black. You need to go for root canal treatment followed by cap on it. Visit to a dentist for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Zytee only makes the pain less. Does not cure ulcers. Find out if you have stomach / digestive problems and cure them. If you have sharp teeth. Get them ground by a dentist. If you have a lot of taryar on your teeth. Get a cleaning done by a dentist.

Hello there it's a genuine concern the bleeding cud be from the gums rather than the teeth. Of course sometimes you feel it cud be from the teeth. But that cudnt be the case in any case this means that your gums are getting weak. Please pay a visit to your dentist and get your teeth cleaned and also he would suggest you other options depending on the severity of your case hope it helped.

Things you need to know before undergoing root canal treatment

MDS - Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry, BDS
Dentist, Hyderabad
Things you need to know before undergoing root canal treatment

Root canal treatment is an effective procedure which is used to treat a tooth whose pulp has been infected. The treatment helps to remove the elimination and further protects the tooth from future microbial attacks. Root canals are physical hollows in a tooth which naturally consists of nerves, blood vessels and other cellular beings.

Learning about Root Canal Treatment-

Before one decides to go for root canal treatment, it is important to realize that this method is useful for preserving a dead tooth, not to save one. So, why does one keep the old tooth which is beyond repair? One can pull out the dead tooth and fill the gap with an implant along with an artificial tooth. However, the main reason for doing this is because it is much simpler than an implant. Even though the old tooth is dead, one can immensely benefit from keeping it as its structure will help you to chew food and talk properly.

In root canal therapy, the doctor cuts off the infected nerve tissue inside the tooth so as to prevent it from infecting the rest of the tooth. But there are consequences of root canal therapy as well. A root canal procedure makes the tooth brittle and much more fracture prone. This is because the inside of the tooth has been removed leaving the outside shell dry and brittle. This is why a root canal therapy often involves a second procedure called crown. A root canaled tooth needs to be protected because the tissue inside of it has been removed. Here comes the crown. The crown is a strong outer covering which is even stronger than the enamel which preserves the structure of the tooth thus preventing fractures.

Failure to undergo permanent restoration placement by the dentist after root canal treatment within next few weeks may result in failure of the root canal treatment due to decay, infection, tooth fracture and/or loss of the tooth structure.

Factors Determining the Success of Root Canal Treatment-

A root canal therapy is an attempt at saving the remains of your tooth. However, sometimes the damage is too much or the enamel is too brittle to withstand the procedure. These factors may cause the loss of a tooth.

Many factors contribute to the success of root canal treatment and not all factors can be determined in advance. Some of the factors are:

  1. individual resistance to infection.
  2. the size, shape and location of the canals.

A case may be more difficult if the tooth has blocked, curved, or narrow canals. The treatment may not relieve the symptoms and treatment can sometimes fail for unexplained reasons. If treatment fails, other procedures (including re-treatment or surgery) may be necessary to retain the tooth, or it may have to be extracted. During and after treatment, the patient may experience some pain or discomfort, swelling, bleeding and loosening of dental restorations and may also need antibiotics to treat any associated infections.

Another factor in this method is the development of an abscess near the root of the tooth if some of the infection remains back or if the antibiotics are not effective enough. Root canal instruments sometimes separate (break) inside the canal which may or may not effect the prognosis. If the separated fragment cannot be retrieved, it may be sealed inside the root canal, or require additional treatment in the future.

Failure to undergo permanent restoration placement by the dentist after root canal treatment within next few weeks may fail if the root canal treatment, decay, infection, tooth fracture and/or loss of the tooth.

Alternative Techniques-

The alternative techniques to root canal therapy include either no treatment or tooth extraction. Tooth extraction may be followed by any prosthetic replacement procedure like dental implants or a removable denture. One can also fix a partial denture which is commonly called a bridge in medical terms.

Conducting no treatments is often accompanied by factors like occasional pains, infection and a possibility of deterioration in the dental infection such that the tooth will no longer be restorable. If a massive loss of tooth structure occurs, then extraction may be the only option.

Taking all factors into consideration, root canal therapy is a very effective method for removing dental infection and is the best possible method in the field.

For toothache which medicine should I take, had flexon?

BDS
Dentist,
For toothache which medicine should I take, had flexon?
You can take a pain killer tablet like brufen 400 / combiflam /diclogem for a temporary relief and consult a dentist for proper treatment of the tooth to avoid same problem in future. (note: pain killer tablets are also not solution because they only treat the symptom and not the cause of tooth pain. Also harmful for the body if taken for longer periods without proper supervision.) pain can be due to various factors visit your dentist and get a proper examination done which may include x-rays if necessary, to get a precise diagnosis, after which dentist can give you exact alternatives of treatment options and then you can make decision as to get which appropriate treatment suitable to your problem and needs. Do whitening toothpastes whiten teeth more than regular toothpastes and is it safe to microwave food in food plastic containers?

BDS
Dentist, Ghaziabad
Do whitening toothpastes whiten teeth more than regular toothpastes and is it safe to microwave food in food plastic ...
Whitening toothpastes have more abrasive property along with little percentage of bleaching agent. They will not only abrade your enamel surface but can also cause sensitivity of your teeth. The colour of your dentition is the natural color given by God. It is the color of your dentin that reflects thru enamel. Secondly cooking food in microwave in normal plastic containers is not at all safe. Researches and studies shows incidence of cancer. Not only with microwave cooking but also normal plastic material when it comes in contact with the heat does some harmful chemical reaction that is said to be risky and contributing factor of cancer. I don't know how much the containers that r so to say microwave safe r good.

Cause of discoloration ? Smoking, coffee, tea, drugs, aging, staining food (wine, blueberry, etc) genetics. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with whitening (bleaching) procedures and / or artificial enamel filling and / or capping. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use Snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply SNOWDENT paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min .Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results. DENTAL TIPS: - Visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

I need to extract my 3 teeth severe headache, toothaches, pain in the neck face swollen. Do I need to stop my Aspirin pre&post extraction. Thank you.

MDS
Dentist, Hyderabad
I need to extract my 3 teeth severe headache, toothaches, pain in the neck face swollen. Do I need to stop my Aspirin...
You are on aspirin, which is a blood thinner. It causes excessive bleeding post extraction, so it should be stopped 3 days before extraction of the tooth and 3 days post extraction. You are also on immunosuppresant drugs i. E. Azathioprine and ciclosporin which is suppressing your immune system, to fight infection. You should be admitted, put on intravenous antibiotics pre and post extraction. You are also on wysolone, a corticosteroid. It should be doubled before extraction to avoid adrenal crisis. You have to be very carefully monitored for the procedure. Good luck.

Sir, I taken tobacco mix pan masala since last 18 years. App last 8 year my mouth open only one finger. At presently ...
Hi lybrate-user, it is good that you have quit tobacco pan masala. It is likely that you have a condition called as osmf (oral submucous fibrosis), wherein, there are reddish lesions on the inside the cheeks, and mouth-opening becomes extremely limited due to decreased elasticity of tissues in the mouth. Although you have quit tobacco, it will take some time for your mouth opening to get normal; and you will be required to do some mouth exercises. In many cases, medicines need to be injected directly into the lesions (intra-lesional injections), which brings about quick improvement. I suggest that you consult me privately on lybrate. In private consultation, you will be able to show the pictures of your lesions to me, and I will be in a better position to solve your query. I will also be able to guide you on how to perform mouth exercises on video consultation. Take care.
