Does junk food really harm our health. How junk food ham our health. Can we consume junk food regularly.

M.Sc - Dietitics / Nutrition
Dietitian/Nutritionist,
Does junk food really harm our health. How junk food ham our health. Can we consume junk food regularly.
Hen you’re hungry and on the run, fast food can really hit the spot. It’s quick, tasty, and, best of all, convenient. But it’s also loaded with calories, sugar, sodium, and fat—often enough in one meal for an entire day or more. And if you’re feeding your whole family, it can be expensive, too—often more so than cooking at home. Fast food menus are tricky when you’re watching your weight or your health. Finding a healthy, well-balanced meal in most fast food restaurants is a challenge. But there are always healthier options hidden among the diet disasters. You just need to know where Can fast food really be healthy? The truth is that it’s extremely difficult to follow a healthy diet when you’re eating regularly at fast food restaurants. Fast food restaurants typically use the cheapest ingredients possible in order to keep costs down. That means that foods that otherwise could be considered healthy may not be when ordered from a fast food chain. For example, cheese can be a good source of protein and calcium, but the cheese topping your burger or covering your pizza is most likely heavily processed, made from non-dairy ingredients. The same goes for meat, chicken, and eggs. Fast food is also typically high in trans fat, unhealthy saturated fat, hidden sugar, sodium, and calories. At the same time, it tends to be low in nutrients and almost totally lacking in fruits, vegetables, and fiber. That doesn’t mean you have to avoid fast food entirely. It’s OK to indulge a craving every once in a while, but to stay healthy you can’t make it a regular habit; consuming fast food regularly will almost certainly have a negative affect your health. The key is moderation—both in how often you frequent fast food chains and what you order once you’re there. There are always choices you can make that are healthier than others. The following tips and menu recommendations can help you stay on track. Just remember that even the healthiest fast food options often have nutritional drawbacks so try to keep fast food to the occasional treat. Aim to keep your entire meal to 500 calories or less. The average adult eats 836 calories per fast food meal—and underestimates what they ate by 175 calories. So don’t guess! Most chains post nutritional info both on their websites and at the franchise location. Take advantage of this information. Opt for foods that are lower in fat and higher in protein and fiber. Look for items with more good stuff, like fiber, whole grains, and high-quality protein. Also aim for options that are relatively low in saturated fats—while not all saturated fats are bad for you, most of those found in fast food restaurants are. Steer clear of trans fats. Small amounts of naturally-occurring trans fats can be found in meat and dairy products but it’s the artificial trans fats used to keep food fresh that are dangerous to your health. Avoid anything containing “partially hydrogenated” oil—even if it claims to be trans fat-free—or any foods that have been deep fried. While no amount of artificial trans fat is considered safe, the USDA recommends at least limiting trans fat to no more than 2 grams per day. Keep an eye on sodium intake. The American Heart Association recommends that adults stay under 1500 mg of sodium per day, and never take in more than 2, 300 mg a day. That can be tough to do when eating fasting food—a burger and fries can easily exceed your daily limit. Bring your own add-on items if you really want a health boost. Even when you order wisely, it can be pretty tough to get enough fiber and other important vitamins and nutrients from a fast food menu. If you plan ahead, you can bring healthy sides and toppings like dried fruit, nuts and seeds, carrot sticks, apple or pear slices, and cottage cheese or yogurt.

I am a 50 year old Indian agriculturist in coffee, normal structure, weight 62 kgs. I do not smoke, no alcohol, no meat, chicken, but take fish sometimes n consume eggs frequently. Coffee drinking daily at 2 cups/day. Daily cycling for about 10 kms. My sex life is utterly bad. I have no any major complications, no medication history so far slight knee pains when I sit long. A little financial stress off-late. I have a low nagging back pain since last 20 years. Sciatica problem but have maintained it in control. I have observed a twitching 10-30 seconds pain on my left chest which has now become regular. Had undergone ECG where some small error observed by doctor and put me on ecosprin. My TMT was perfect with no problem at narayana hrudalaya bangalore and I was told I have less than 5% chance of any attack. But this regular pricking twitch keeps giving me the jitters. Doc says if it continues. He may suggest me an anti. Should I need to go in for it. If required I can share scan copy of my ECG. That has raised eyebrow of the doc. Do guide me

Hello, Lybrate user, It would b proper to view your report but ECG report is not enough to assesse the over all condition of d heart to be panic about unless you go through stress test, angiography,Eco, to establish any measure cardiac fault when TMT is normal. Caffiene may trigger Herat problem please consult to your cardiologist, in this regard. If you are on Ecosprin it means some blockage is there or blood need to be thinner but that too, can be established after Eco test, atleast. On the whole your symptoms reveal that you are disturbed due to gastric disorder causing pain in chest and back. U have not mentioned your height & weight. Homoeopathy very well manage the function of heart. Till your report reach me ,please take homoeo medicine: @ Carbo veg 200-6 pills, thrice. Yes you can get ready made or insoles specially designed for you without a doctors consultation. Wear the insoles entire day in shoes. If the pain is severe you can visit a physiotherapist and take ultrasound therapy and few exercises which can help reduce the pain.

This would require understanding the reason for low weight and maintaining a diet for weight gain. This is a general strain due to excessive walking or standing and for this you can follow these measures: one keep a pillow right under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes. One time you can do hot water fermentation that would help to reduce the muscle strain.

Increase your appetite by eating more to gain weight. But do it step-by-step and not by stuffing yourself too much at one go. Add one extra chapatti or more rice than you normally consume, or you could even start with fruits by eating an extra one every day.? Including the following foods in your diet is also a good idea. Foods are Milk. Egg Banana Oats Breads Puffs Energy bars- Energy bars like granola bars might not be healthy if you are trying to lose weight, but it?s a good option for those trying to gain it. Has anyone done mri of your knee and told you about meniscus tear? if it' s meniscus tear, no medicine can cure it. Either it will settle down on its own which is not common, or you will have to undergo arthroscopy surgery for that. Usually in this age group, there are chances of osteoarthritis of knee joints. Please visit a good knee surgeon. Dr prashant parate. Sportsorthocare shoulder and knee specialist

. To gain weight it is not about eating too much, but eat high energy and protein dense food frequently in small portions. 1 start eating high energy high protein food. Like almond, ground nut, dry coconut, cashew nut, milk and milk products etc 2 do not take stress, if you are suffering from any kind of stress do yoga and meditation 3 quite smoking or any kind of tobacco. 4 eat food which is less in fiber so it can be digested easily and make you hungry again. 5 instead of eating large quantities of food in single meal take small portions of food frequently above are some common instruction but for definite result you need individual diet and exercise schedule.

I suggest you easy method of weight gain just follow it for year you will gain weigh defiantly 1. Start exercise regularly for 3 month and then after 3 month leave it for 3 month at the time of exercise your diet will increase but same diet continue after 3 month when you stop exercise so thats why your weight will increase automatically now we discus about diet 2. Take dates with milk in the morning breakfast 3. Triphala kadha 4 tsp beore lunch and dinner 4. Amala juice 4 tsp + 2tsp sugar + 2tsp honey in the morning empty stomach this take for 1.5 month only your weight gain will take definitely note=avoid over eating. When you are trying to gain weight, you should eat food the rich in vitamins and minerals. 1. Healthy food includes meat, egg, milk, fruit vegetables, fruits, and nuts. Cashews, almonds, dates, walnuts, dry grapes, apricots, peaches are some of the dried fruits and nuts that can be added to breakfast, salads, cereal and desserts. Sesame seeds, ground nuts, and peanuts also contain fats in them and can help in adding that extra pounds you desire. 2. Sometimes loss of appetite may also cause weight loss. So you should take following remedies improving weight a]triphala kadha 4tsp before lunch and dinner b]amala juice 4 tsp + sugar 2 tsp+ honey 2 tsp empty stomach in the morning umami flavor increases satiety and enhances appetite. Due to improving hunger and digestion whatever you will eat more and even you eat more it will digest properly and your weight will increase naturally without any supplement.

Hi, to check for dengue. Get a platelets count done. For malaria and typhoid. There are separate tests. Take her to doctor, let him decide which tests to be done and whether to admit or not. 104 kind of temperature, that too in delhi region should not be taken lightly.

Please follow the below recommendation for your conditions: Bananas are full of calories and contain high amount of carbohydrates and potassium that give you instant energy. Whosoever want to gain weight must eat a banana daily in the morning with a glass of warm milk. Add a teaspoon of sugar in it. Moreover, you can also have it after your meals. Note – Don’t eat bananas when you are down with common cold. Also add 250-400 gm of chicken and 2 boiled eggs daily to your diet. Do morning exercise daily and meditation.
