Recent onset yellow eyes are suggestive of jaundice. You need to visit your physician to check that who might advise blood tests for liver function.

What is the symptoms of hypermetropia? What can we do to get it corrected? How we can fix it?

What is the symptoms of hypermetropia? What can we do to get it corrected? How we can fix it?
Hypermetropia will have blurrness of vision and eye strain. Glasses, contact lenses and surgery are the only three options for good vision if you having spectacle power. If you not comfortable with contact lens, you can plan lasik surgery after a proper prelasik checkup.

I use my smartphone frequently. It leads to strain in eyes. How can I protect my eyes from effects of smartphone?

FICO, DNB Ophtalmology

I use my smartphone frequently. It leads to strain in eyes. How can I protect my eyes from effects of smartphone?
Hi. I have a few suggestions for you regarding the usage of computers, mobile phones and books. Follow the rule of" 20" this means that every 20 minutes, take a gap of 20 seconds, blink your eyes actively 20 times and focus at an object which is minimum 20 feet away. This will help in relieving your eyes from the continuous strain that is caused due to staring. Staring at the computer continuously causes us to subconsciously blink less than normal. This causes the tear film on the surface of the eye to dry up. The result of this is pain, discomfort, etc. Another suggestions regarding the usage of computers is to maintain a proper posture. The computer must be positioned at the same height as your eye level. The neck should not be inadvertently flexed or extended. Roughly, an angle of 90 degrees should be maintained between your upper body and thighs. Likewise, a similar angle (90 degrees) should be maintained between your lower legs and thighs. Also the angle between your hands and arms should be roughly 90 degrees. This is the healthy ergonomic way of sitting while using a computer. Maintenance of proper posture would help in further relieving the symptoms of eye discomfort and pain. All these suggestions may take a while to sink in and imbibe in your routine. Once followed, they are sure to work wonders for you. Hope my suggestions help you. Take care. Cheers.

Namaste, Your eye sight is most likely unrelated to your headaches as they could be migraines (which are the most common type of headaches). Generally, migraine begins as a dull ache and then develops into a constant throbbing and pulsating pain that you may feel at the temples, as well as the front or back of one or both sides of the head. The pain is usually accompanied by a combination of nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and noise. The cause of migraine is believed to be chemical reactions in the brain. Treatment for migraine may include over-the-counter or prescription medications, as well as self-help techniques such as relaxation training, deep breathing, aerobic exercises, and biofeedback.

MBBS, DOMS
Ophthalmologist, Hyderabad
I have an eye sight, I can't see the long distance please help me, which type solution should I take.
For your sight, simplest solution is to use spectacles. Another alternative is to use contact lenses (needs everyday insertion & removal before sleep at night). Long term, permanent solution includes getting laser vision correction or lasik. Depending on your profession, suitability, life style & affordability, you can go for one of the options.

One thing you will have to understand AND ACCEPT is that once a child develops power it is very unlikely that it gets reversed. Power can change upto age of 18-20 years. It is beneficial to wear glasses full day, to consume a healthy diet and to get his eyes checked regularly (atleast once in 6 months)

Meibomianitis - 8 Things That Can Trigger It!

Ophthalmologist
Ophthalmologist, Thane
Meibomianitis - 8 Things That Can Trigger It!

In order to see clearly, the eyes need to be constantly lubricated. This function is performed by small glands located in the eyelids known as meibomian glands. These glands secrete oil onto the surface of the cornea through tiny openings on them. Malfunctioning of this gland can create an excessive amount of oil.

When oil accumulates on the eyelids, it encourages the bacteria present in the eye and the skin around it to multiply leading to inflammation. This condition is known as meibomianitis. Adults are at a higher risk of suffering from this condition as compared to children.

Some of the factors that could trigger meibomianitis are:

  1. Allergic reactions
  2. Fluctuation of hormones associated with puberty and adolescence
  3. Acne and other skin conditions
  4. Lice or mites on the eyelashes
  5. Unsanitary contact lens solution
  6. Contaminated eye makeup
  7. Certain medications such as isotretinoin for acne that increases bacteria on the eyelids
  8. However, in some cases, a clear trigger factor may not be identifiable.

Some of the characteristic symptoms of this disease are:

  1. Dry eyes
  2. Constant watering from the eyes
  3. Inflammation and reddening of the eyelids
  4. Burning sensation in the eyes
  5. Itchiness
  6. Flaking of skin around the infected eye
  7. Heightened sensitivity to light
  8. Excessive blinking
  9. Crusting of eyelashes
  10. Blurred vision
  11. Frequent formation of sties
  12. Loss of eyelashes or abnormal growth of eyelashes

Regular cleaning of the eyes with warm water and abstaining from the use of contact lenses and eye makeup can help reduce irritation and manage the inflammation. Additionally, the doctor may also prescribe antibiotics or steroids in the form of pills, eye creams or drops. Artificial tears may also be recommended to patients exhibiting dry eye symptoms. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Ophthalmologist.

MS - Ophthalmology
Ophthalmologist,
I have -2 power of my eye in starting. Now it's -4. Everything its increasing when I tested. Please help.
You are having myopia. Myopia is of two types -simple & pathological myopia. Usually the increase in power stops by the age of 18-21yrs in female & 21-24 in male. If this occurs it is simple myopia. If the power goes on increasing after this age then it is pathologigal type. You can take vit a rich food to keep your eyes in good condition, like carrot, tomato, ripe papaya & green vegetable.

Hi, it takes little more time by our body to get adjusted to any new habit or an environment. So, with the eyes. Keeping wearing them regularly (you may increase the time duration and frequency in a week gradually) so that after months you and your eyes both will get habituated to each other.
