I have red eye, headache and I can not able ti see properly for over 3 days what can I do?
red eyes could be because of many reasons but commonly it is due to allergy or infection. You need to visit eye specialist to differentiate between the two as the treatment is different. Also get your eyes checked for any glass power

Hi. I an looking to enquire about LASIK surgery and costs associated with it. Is it safe?
Hello lasik is very good option to get rid of glasses Doctor will perform few tests (Schirmer test, Pentacam and Fundus examination) and if all tests are normal then you can go for lasik surgery without fear. Success rate of LASIK is over 96%. Side effects may vary from minimal like mild dryness, DALK, haloes, glare to severe like infection (very rare). Precaution include: a. Avoid face/head wash for 1 week b. Avoid swimming /water sports for 6 weeks c. Avoid eye make up for 6 weeks Cost :depends on Type of lasik which varies from 25000 for standard lasik to 1.10 lacs for SMILE lasik For more details, you can read my health tip on LASIK.

Hello. Being a retina surgeon, I do understand your problem pretty well. Let me go through your query point wise. First and foremost, traumatic injuries to the eye or the area around the eyes have an increased risk of being complicated along with poor vision recovery. The injury that occurred to your eye must have resulted in a traumatic catarct developing in the eye. For this, you were operated in 2005. Subsequently, the vitrectomy along with injection of sulfur hexafluoride (sf6) gas was done for your retina complication. The reason for incomplete recovery of vision are multiple: (1) the retina may be damaged along with loss of an important layer in it (photoreceptors) (2) the cornea may be damaged (which may resyult in whitening) (3) the optic nerve may have suffered damage which may have caused it to dry up. Thus, to be frank, it would be a good idea to check your eyes and then suggest you any possible treatment alternatives.

Male. I have a problem in my eight eye. My right eye causes disturbance in looking. I can't see anything clearly with my right eye. For example. I can't read any letter , word, sentence from any distance. My left eye is Very much accurate. Its so good that it doesn't make me feel anything abt my right eye. Everything is blur with my right eye. I went to Nepal , methi Eye Hospital. They has done many tests But they couldn't find the solution. Finally the Report said that this problem is from my birth. It can't get cured , neither it will become further worst. It will remain the same. And since my left eye is perfect so there won't be any disturbances. Conclusion - I don't have any disturbance in watching something when both my eyes r open. But only if I close my left eye and try to watch with my right eye then everything is blur.

Lybrate-user, you seem to be diagnosed with a lazy eye or amblyopia in the right eye. It is not unusual for poor vision in one eye to go unnoticed if other eye has good vision. His is why we stress on regular eye exam by an ophthalmologist. A trial of left eye patching or occlusion may help in improving vision in right eye. Recent studies have shown visual gains in lazy eye upto 20-24 years of age with patching done for the first time. Do go back and discuss with your treating doctor.

Due To the movement of cornea this scars causes deep irritation. Sometimes I can't even open my eye. It persists for 1 or 2 or 3 hrs then suddenly goes away within second. Cornea scars also disappears. I often suffer due to this 2 or 3 times in a week. Causing lot of problem in my day to day life. What can be the reason and solution of this problem?

Hello lybrate-user, With the information provided by you the most common conditon that I can think you are suffering from is Dry Eyes Syndrome (also know as Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca or Sjogren Sydrome) or may be some variant of dry eyes syndrome. It is a condition in which there is deficiency of tears in the eyes leading to dryness causing uneasiness and all the symptoms which you have mentioned. The salivary glands may also be affected in this disease and lots of patients also complain of dryness of the mouth. The temporary corneal scars which you are mentioning, those may be stringy discharge that causes discomfort. To diagnose the condition you will require clinical evaluation of the eye followed by these tests- Tear Break Up test, Schirmer Test and Epithelial Staining. There may be possibilities of other diseases also (Differential Diagnosis) like Eye lid infections, Allergic Conjunctivitis or Side effect of some drugs (Medication), Which can cause these symptoms. The treatment of Dry Eyes depends on the severity Medications includes Tear Subtitutes (Lubricants) Topical Corticosteroids. Topical Cyclosporin Surgery includes Punctal Occlusion. My suggestion is to evaluate your eyes with a Eye Doctor to diagnose the condition, and if it is Dry eyes then stage the disease and start the treatment accordingly.
