Do make a move whenever possible even for short interval as possible do keep moving your body frequently expecially the limbs even while sitting without affecting body axis do learn stretching and strengthening exercises from neuro physiotherapist

I am completing 76 years by this july. Have foot /sole burning pain. In 5 minutes of walking the feet become hot and painful and the tendons and calf muscles become stiff.

Hi Thanks for your query and Welcome to Lybrate. I am Dr Akshay from Fortis Hospital, New Delhi. These symptoms are called as Paresthesias and there can be many causes for this at your age. It can be due to compression of nerves at lower spine level, it can be due to long standing diseases like Diabetes or anything which can lead to Neuropathy , also it can be vascular in nature. There are medications for neuropathic symptoms like Pregabalin or Gabapentin which can be initiated in small doses , but we have to be sure that these symptoms are not due to vascular cause as you have mentioned in your history. Hi My husband who is 28 years is having pain and swelling in the foot with difficulty in walking! He has had that in past as well and was diagnosed with high uric acid levels! The recent test says the levels to be 8.5 Now he is on medication but the pain has not subsided! What can be done to normalise uric acid levels or will he hav to take the medication on a regular basis as suggested by the doctor? The medicines he is taking are- Colchicine 0.5 mg Etoshine 90 Superia 20 Febutaz to be started after 10 days Thanx in advance.

Lybrate-user, excess uric acid in some patients leads to gouty arthritis. This leads to swelling and pain in various joints. Most often great toe is first involved. The remedy is to take all those medications which your doctor has already prescribed. This condition comes in episodes. Whenever the attack comes it has to be treated with medicines. Along with that patient has to refrain from foods high in purines like red meat, organ meat, certain sea foods particularly fishes like sardines, scallops, herring, haddock, salmon, trout, mushrooms and mussels. Also avoid sweetened aerated drinks & alcohol. Eggs & milk products can be taken. Vegetables also are good. It is not a completely curable condition. Thanks.

Physio and Yoga are mechanical approach to strengthen muscles and relieve the compression on nerves. Ayurveda gives strength to nerves, muscles and are 'Vaatnashak' i.e. corrects vitiation of Vata. Both should be used simultaneously for best results. Avoid pain killers. Proper medicine will be started after knowing Bloid test reports and radiological findings.

Advice. Regular stretching of shoulder muscles. Warm up and cool down is a must. Hot fomentation. Self massage the back of neck. Use cervical pillow.

I am suffering from osterio-arthiritis for the last 7 years. The big problem is in the right leg. I find lot of stiffiness.

This could be due to OA knee &/ obesity. Physiotherapy along with medicines will help. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency. Sleep on a hard bed with a soft bedding on it. Use no pillow under the head. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency it may have to be further investigated. Do knee exercises.

I have spondylitis and when it pains it pains like anything the shoulder gets stiff and spasms and there is unbearable pain through the left shoulder and even the neck gets very stiff. What should I do to recover from it for relief.

Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. SPRING BEDS, FOLDING BEDS OR THICK MATRESS ARE HARMFUL Use no pillow under the head. DO HOT FOMANTATION. Paracetamol 250mg OD & SOS x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab OD x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again.. Do not ignore .It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Good day 1 week ago saturday I had a very bad injury I fall down on ice and injure my left leg. I went toi the hospital and stayed one day there now they saying my muscles above my left knee (ferrum) was a little bit broken open and we can do two things they told me or we make operation or put a brace. I have chosen for a brace and they told me 4 weeks home to recover with the brace and do not walk too much and walk with crutches. My question is will I recover with my leg totally after a lot of rest and do not walk too much.

Back pain after prolonged sitting can be due to sacroilitis or disc degeneration or quadratus lumborum muscle ( a muscle in our back) strain. Initially you can try conservative treatment as described below. If problem persists consult again. 1. Sit with straight back and change posture in between. 2. Take breaks in between work and walk. 3. Do back strengthening and stretching exercises daily. 4. Take simple painkillers like paracetamol if pain is persistent. 5. Apply analgesic cream or gel over back followed by warm fomentation. 6.Do not bend and lift weights. 7. Keep pillow behind knees at night. 8. If back pain is accompanied with radiating leg pain or tingling , numbness or weakness, consult your doctor immediately

Dear Lybrate User, *Avoid more salty, dry, maida related junk foods, more tea, coffee. *Consume more fresh fruit juice. *Practice yoga, meditation, breathing exercise. *Cleansing shall be one of the most important steps of your skin care routine. Even if you are not having an acne problem washing the face twice a day helps in removing dirt, oil and dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. Less oil and dirt also means less acne. While washing your face never apply soap and always use a mild face cleanser. Also wash the face only with warm or cold water as using hot water can cause pimples *To avoid having pimples it is not just necessary to keep your face oil free but your hair shall also not be oily. Leaving overnight oil on your hair can cause pimples as the hair touching your face will make your skin oily. Wash your hair regularly and don’t let them fall on your face. Also go easy on products like hair gels, fragrances and deodorants as they can clog up the skin pores leading to pimples. *Siting an unpleasant pimple makes us want to pop it immediately to get rid of it. But touching and popping pimples can only accentuate the problem. Don’t let your hands touch your face very often. It can spread bacteria, cause infections or further more pimples which you certainly don’t want.

unfortunately a scar is always a scar. If the scar is very thick then it can be revised. But there will be no guarantee that the new scar will be slim either. you can do scar massages which can help make the scar soft.

Drink more water, high-carbohydrate foods such as potatoes, rice, pasta and bread. You can take Nutrient-rich foods that improve your health may also benefit your thyroid gland, antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables more plenty of water: Blueberries, tomatoes, bell peppers, and other foods rich in antioxidants can improve overall health and benefit the thyroid gland. Eating foods high in B vitamins, like whole grains, may also help. Selenium: Tiny amounts of selenium are needed for enzymes that make thyroid hormones to work properly. Eating selenium-rich foods, such as sunflower seeds or Brazil nuts, can be beneficial. Tyrosine: This amino acid is used by the thyroid gland to produce T3 and T4. Taking a supplement may help, avoid oily foods,junk foods, go for walk. Tests every 3 to 6 months. you can take tab. bencid 500 mg once a day. tab. thyronorm 75mcg once in morning before meal.
