It does not matter when you feel like drinking, as long as you need your drink. This could lead to increased tolerance levels so that over time you will need to drink more to get the same or greater effect. You need to identify why you need to drink, and go back into your childhood to find out other influences on your personality that makes you prone to addiction. Meet with an addiction counselor and work with them to sort out this drive. You already display the classic tendency to first obsess about it and then compulsively feel driven to meet that need. As a lady, the effects are greater than on men and so you need to be extra careful. The simplest thing to do is to do some other interesting activity during the evening times. Meet your oral need with some other non-intoxicating drink like soups, juices, and sodas with lime, etc. See if there has been a poor relationship with your mother in particular and in the home. If you find the drive is too much, you could admit yourself to a hospital for detoxification. This will reduce the physical craving. For the psychological craving the counselor will help you. As a combination these two therapies will aid in dealing with the addiction. It will however take a long time to completely come off of the enslavement. Hi, . Try to cut down on your own, reduce the frequency then reduce in puffs you are taking from one cigarate. Try to divert your mind and use some other types of chewable items.

parkinsonism mainly manifest as slowness due to increased muscle tone..patient has slowness in walking slowness in eating..he or she has generalised bodyaches, heaviness in body. facial expressions decreases so much dat face appears as mask....most important feature is tremulousness of the limbs tremors will first appear in one limb then progress to involve other limbs...slowly slowly body become rigid and patient has difficulty in walking..and later on patient can become bed bound...

Dear Lybrate user, you are under going Grief, which is a natural response to loss-Losing someone or something you love or care deeply about is very painful. You may experience all kinds of difficult emotions and it may feel like the pain and sadness you're experiencing will never let up. Most important factor in healing from loss is having the support of other people. Even if you aren’t comfortable talking about your feelings under normal circumstances, it’s important to express them when you’re grieving. Sharing your loss makes the burden of grief easier to carry. Wherever the support comes from, accept it and do not grieve alone. Connecting to others will help you heal. Turn to friends and family members /Draw comfort from your faith /Join a support group/Talk to a therapist or a counselor. Good luck.

I am a married woman, 50 years of age, m/o two children. I am iddm for the past 29 years. I easily get tensed and fiind it difficult even to accomplish the day to day routine activities at home. I have always been keeping my sugar level under control (exceptional hyper & hypo glycemia level do occur) and taking insulin injections regularly. It appears likely that you may be in the wrong profession or career. If you are not showing the interest in a particular job and not growing either, then it is quite suggestive of your being in a field that does not match your aptitude. You must meet with a career guidance counselor and do the tests for aptitude and career guidance and determine what you are actually made for. These counselors may not be willing to do a test at this late time in your life but do request them and they will if you put sufficient pressure. When this has been done you can see with the counselor’s help how to incorporate your aptitude with the current job that you are doing and make a suitable ‘adjustment’ so that various lose strings can be drawn together and a suitable job opening with your present qualification can be accommodated. Introspection is good if you are focused on a particular idea for development. If not, it will serve no purpose other than extending your problems to overwhelming levels.

Can you suggest a vitamin supplement for panic attacks / Generalized anxiety disorder ?

Panic attack is a condition in which a person have sudden onset of extreme anxiety associated with chest discomfort/chest pain, choking sensation in throat, dryness in mouth, dizziness, headache, palpitation, increased heart beat, churning sensation in abdomen, hot flushes or cold extremities, tremors, fear of impending doom (feeling as if going to die) or fear of going crazy. The condition arises abruptly and builds up very fast. it mimics heart attack and warrants repeated hospitalization, unnecessary medications and investigations. In Generalized anxiety disorder the patient always have ongoing anxiety on minor day to day issues, patient feels himself/ herself on the edge always and experience worry, preoccupation with negative thinking, insomnia and poor self confidence. These illness can be cured with psychiatric medicines only. vitamins can't. By the way the medicines you mentioned is a cocktail and not the desired medicine for Anxiety disorder. Dear, You must be able to understand Concentration, attention span, recollection and distraction. If you are able to watch a movie for two hours continuously, if you are able to play a game for an hour, then you do not have any concentration problems. You can't be attentive towards your studies because you are not interested in it. You are able to watch movie and play game because you are interested in it. Human cannot be attentive towards anything for more than 10 minutes. Then you should study in such a way that your attention is continued and make the subjects are interesting to you. Effective learning techniques should help you. Recollection depends on anxiety, stress and other physical and circumstantial factors. Distractions while studying are plentiful. You should be able to overcome distractions or avoid distractions. Please understand the above. Change your study style and attitude accordingly. How to reduce stress tensions.I am a student doing ug course.

First of all, the intensity of stress is in the perception. Change your perception, there is no stress: it?s like looking at a glass half full or half empty. Apart from that, all your emotions need to be dealt with by expression i.E. You need to talk about the feelings. Then you need to exercise regularly, eat fiber foods (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), sleep at least 8 hours every day, learn Yoga and meditation, learn stress management, and do a personality development course. Because you are into studies, follow a tight schedule, with good breaks and study habits. If group study helps you, do it with the right people. If tutoring is required, arrange for the same. These should see you through successfully without the stress.

Hi, little bit of tension is good for studies but excess of it is not good. Kindly change the method of your learning. Repeat, revise, review. If you get struck in any problem then leave it for time being. Study some other subject and return on that problem later on. Drink water when tensed and also take some deep breaths. This will relax your mind and you will be able to solve the problem.

I have been addicted to smoking for last 10 years and drinking for last 5 years. Now I want to get rid of my addiction. What should I do?

Why on earth would you still abuse these substances that can certainly lead you to an early grave? The symptoms are not encouraging either. There is only one reason, and that is, that you have not reached your ‘Rock bottom’ so that you will be stopped right in your tracks! Before that happens you must, on a war footing, exercise restraint and stop the use of all these substances. Since you have probably tried and found it extremely difficult I suggest you do one of the following: It sounds like you are in an advanced stage of alcoholism and tobacco use and need admission to a rehabilitation center to ideally help deal with this problem. There are no guarantees about stopping one’s addiction. But that does not mean we should not keep at it, over and over again until we succeed. Now it is difficult to give up all by yourself because you have become addicted to alcohol and tobacco and there is so much to do. Under such circumstances it is best that you admit yourself into a de-addiction center and stay there for at least 6 months and after that you can attend counseling with a professional. There are medicines that help with the drinking just to ease the initial craving and to act as an antabuse i.e. you will have a serious reaction, if you consume even a small quantity of alcohol or alcohol based substances. It has to be carefully monitored to see that you do not only consume the medication but you are also avoiding alcohol. Ultimately, it is your will power and the support that you receive from the medical fraternity and your close and dear ones. You must also learn to substitute and deal with the oral need, a rigid value system, the script issue, and of course take a look at all the genetic factors to plan a strategy not to get into what is called ‘cross addictions’ i.e. another form of addiction that may appear alright but is in fact as bad as the primary addiction. The center or hospital and the counselor will advise and guide you on several measures and precautions you will need to take to stay with your resolve. Even after the rehabilitation you must attend AA meetings and continue this support for a long time. The family will also need to attend some sessions and go for Al-anon meetings for their co-dependency issues. You cannot be treated in isolation because the family has gotten used to your drinking in particular and have made some unhealthy adaptations to somehow cope. Make a serious plan with whoever else’s support you can get and act on it fast. If you are not cooperative, there are some centers that will come and pick you up, after you are completely drunk, and admit you by force. This will however, require the family’s consent. Do not delay for any reason and stop fooling around with half decisions. This must be your last and final attempt and make it a successful one.

Dear , to reduce the effect of smoking, you should first quit smoking. You can reduce the amoung of cigerettes but the negative effect it does to the body remains. Once you stop smoking, you can use many alternative methods to slowly cure your body from the wraths of smoking. Consult a psychologist. Take care.

Feeling unhappy and sad persistently for no apparent reasons is a sign of underlying depressive disorder. It's just an escape for the mind to blame others for our happiness, it's another sign of a weakened mind. Consult a psychiatrist for counseling and medical help if required.
