What are symptoms of insomnia? How to get rid of it? Please help What are main causes of it?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hi, Insomnia is a sleep disorder that is characterized by difficulty falling and/or staying asleep. People with insomnia have one or more of the following symptoms: Difficulty falling asleep Waking up often during the night and having trouble going back to sleep Waking up too early in the morning Feeling tired upon waking There are two types of insomnia: primary insomnia and secondary insomnia. Primary insomnia: Primary insomnia means that a person is having sleep problems that are not directly associated with any other health condition or problem. Secondary insomnia: Secondary insomnia means that a person is having sleep problems because of something else, such as a health condition (like asthma, depression, arthritis, cancer, or heartburn); pain; medication they are taking; or a substance they are using (like alcohol). Sleep plays a vital role in good health and well-being throughout your life. Getting enough quality sleep at the right times can help protect your mental health, physical health, quality of life, and safety. In children and teens, sleep also helps support growth and development. The damage from sleep deficiency can occur in an instant (such as a car crash), or it can harm you over time. For example, ongoing sleep deficiency can raise your risk for some chronic health problems. It also can affect how well you think, react, work, learn, and get along with others. Management: Here are five tips everyone can use to help improve the quality of their sleep: Keep your bedroom cool and dark Put away/turn off all electronic devices while preparing for bedtime Stick to a regular bedtime and wake time every day, even on weekends Stop drinking caffeine by the early afternoon and avoid large late-night meals Skip the late-afternoon nap, as it can make it harder to sleep at bedtime Avoid taking unnecessary stress/ tension. Do regular exercise. Go for a brisk walk in the morning. Medication: Take Schwabe's Bacopa Monierri 1x/ thrice daily and Kali Phos./ once daily at night for 1month.

I am a diabetic patient and everyday I take pills for it but I alternatively also drink alcohol(2 packs only), so is any problem will create in my health?

M B B S, M. D (Internal Medicine)
General Physician, Nellore
If you mean 2 pegs only, then 2 small pegs (30 ml each) should not be a problem. But, if you think alcohol is going to give you any benefit, then you are grossly mistaken. The proven health benefits are specifically for red wine only, not other forms of alcohol. Hence, my medical advise is that if you want to take alcohol, take only red wine 60 ml/day. Otherwise quit alcohol altogether. Many people have been misconstruing doctor' s advise and using it as an excuse to continue with their alcohol habits. That is harmful to you as well as wrong to put the blame on doctors.

Hai sir my name is sourabh I am 15 years old What is symptoms of malaria and dengue.

Homeopath, Faridabad
Hai sir my name is sourabh I am 15 years old
What is symptoms of malaria and dengue.
Hello, Malaria is an acute febrile illness. In a non-immune individual, symptoms appear 7 days or more (usually 10–15 days) after the infective mosquito bite. The first symptoms – fever, headache, chills and vomiting – may be mild and difficult to recognize as malaria. If not treated within 24 hours, P. Falciparum malaria can progress to severe illness, often leading to death. Children with severe malaria frequently develop 1 or more of the following symptoms: severe anaemia, respiratory distress in relation to metabolic acidosis, or cerebral malaria. In adults, multi-organ involvement is also frequent. In malaria endemic areas, people may develop partial immunity, allowing asymptomatic infections to occur. Dengue: Dengue fever, also known as breakbone fever, is a mosquito-borne tropical disease caused by the dengue virus. Symptoms include fever, headache, muscle and joint pains, and a characteristic skin rash that is similar to measles. In a small proportion of cases, the disease develops into the life-threatening dengue hemorrhagic fever, resulting in bleeding, low levels of blood platelets and blood plasma leakage, or into dengue shock syndrome, where dangerously low blood pressure occurs. Dengue is transmitted by several species of mosquito within the genus Aedes, principally A. Aegypti.

Sir ! I will suffering from fever since last night. So what can I do at this time.
Fever is not considered medically significant until body temperature is above 100.4 F (38 C). Fever serves as one of the body's natural defenses against bacteria and viruses which cannot live at a higher temperatures..Also, the body's defense mechanisms seem to work more efficiently at a higher temperature -Fevers of 104 F (40 C) or higher may be dangerous and demand immediate treatment The following medications may be used at home for mild to moderate fever : -Acetaminophen (dolo-650 mg) twice or thrice can be used to lower a fever . Aspirin should not be used for fever in children or adolescents or during a viral illness. -An individual with a fever should be kept comfortable and not overdressed. Overdressing can cause the temperature to rise further.wear loose fitting clothes. -Tepid water (85 F [30 C]) baths are a home remedy that may help bring down a fever -The body should be cooled with a wet sponge. -A fever can cause anyone to become very dehydrated. Drink plenty of fluids.. Have citrus fruits, particularly Vitamin C rich ones like mausami,Amla juice etc. -Take light and easily digestible home cooked meals during fever..avoid outside food -Wash your hands frequently every day with soap and warm water f especially before meals, or after you have returned from a public place or used public transport. -Further therapy depends on the cause of fever like urinary infection/typhoid or malaria/dengue infection and the accompanying symptoms that need to be investigated and treated accordingly

Mr. lybrate-user By looking at blood glucose levels, it is clear that her diabetes is uncontrolled. There's no mention of HbA1c%, that gives a much better idea of long term control. Her treatment needs to be properly calibrated with glucose levels. We may have to add some additional drug/s. As regards ayurvedic drugs, there's no real benefit. Those drugs at best can be supportive therapy. If you come in a private conversation with all details like current fasting, PP& HbA1c%, dietary habits & extent of daily exercise then I will be able to guide specifically. Thanks.

THYROID DISORDER AND WEIGHT LOSS

1. Optimize Your Thyroid Treatment

Some thyroid patients -- and practitioners -- believe that if athyroid patient has gained weight, or can't lose weight, simply getting on thyroid medication will be the solution. Unfortunately, this seems to be less common that patients who, despite being treated, continue to gain weight despite eating well and exercising, or who can't lose weight no matter what diet or exercise approach they try.

Many practitioners believe that for thyroid patients who want to lose weight, the first step is to optimize -- not just normalize -- your thyroid treatment. What is considered "optimal" Not only are TSH, Free T4 and Free T3 levels considered important, but Reverse T3, ferritin, leptin, and other issues come into play in terms of optimal thyroid treatment.

2. Hormone Resistance Issues

Some practitioners believe that hormone resistance problems -- including leptin resistance , insulin resistance , and thyroid resistance -- contribute to the difficult some thyroid patients face in losing weight . This means, having fasting glucose, leptin, and Reverse T3 tested , evaluated, and potentially treated.

3. Increase Your Metabolism

Because hypothyroidism lowers metabolism, one of the most important things you can do is to focus on is diet, foods, and exercise that can help raise your metabolism .

4. Change Your Diet

Making changes to your diet can be essential to successful weight loss. This can include avoiding overconsumption of goitro genic foods and vegetables (watch out for those raw juice diets!), going gluten/wheat-free , and limiting simple carbohydrates and sugar .

5. Get Enough Sleep

A crucial factor for weight loss is getting enough sleep . One study showed that women who slept 5 hours per night were 32% more likely to experience major weight gain (an increase of 33 pounds or more) and 15% more likely to become obese over the course of the 16-year study, compared to those who slept 7 hours a night. Some practitioners have even said it's better to skip a morning workout and use the time to sleep!

6. Try Supplements

There are hundreds of diet and weight loss supplements on the market, and very few of them are proven to be effective. But some may be of help to you in lowering appetite, lowering blood sugar, burning fat, or raising metabolism. One in particular that has some research behind it is conjugated linoleic acid . (Be careful, however, about supplements that are loaded with iodine.)

7. Get the Right Kind of Exercise

Many practitioners recommend regular exercise for thyroid patients who want to lose weight, but not excessive exercise -- the kind that leaves you exhausted or recuperating for days. My exercise of choice is T-Tapp , but other patients have found walking, Pilates, and other forms of exercise effective. The challenge is of course actually doing the exercise!
