Please note the following in respect to your queries: The contraceptive coil comes in two different types: copper-based intrauterine devices (IUD) and hormonal intrauterine devices (sometimes known as IUS – intrauterine system). Both are essentially made of plastic, then either "coated" with copper or hormones. Both methods of IUD contraception are inserted into the uterus to provide long-term and highly effective protection against pregnancy (above 99% effectiveness). This protection lasts for 5-10 years. They do not protect against sexually transmitted infections. A.Advantages of the Copper Contraceptive Coil The copper coil works for about 10 years. You need to attend regular check-ups to make sure that the coil is still in place. Contraception with the coil is about 98-99% effective over a period of 5 years. The biggest advantage of using a contraceptive coil is that you don't need to think about contraception every time you have sex. Except a risk of heavier periods, copper IUD contraception doesn't usually cause side effects because it doesn't rely on hormones to prevent pregnancy. B.Disadvantages of the Copper Contraceptive Coil Your doctor needs to implant the IUD. You'll need to go back to your doctor one month later, who will check whether the coil is still placed correctly. Regular follow-ups are necessary. In terms of side effects, some women experience heavier and more painful periods with the copper-based contraceptive coil. This can be a problem if you are already prone to heavy and painful periods. If that applies to you, this type of contraception might not be right for you. Other side effects are uncommon but include: Cramps Nausea Backache Vaginal discharge Inflammation of the vagina Pelvic infection (uterus), which usually happens within three weeks after insertion Ectopic pregnancy (egg implanting outside the womb) – very small risk but very serious. An absence of periods and lower abdominal pain are the main symptoms Your doctor will check for signs of infection in the 3-4 weeks after the contraceptive coil has been inserted. Another (rare) risk is that the IUD comes out or slips out of its place – which is most likely to happen during the first 3 months. If this happens, you should see your doctor as soon as possible. You can also try to check the threads that come with it to see if it is in place.

I have got itching in my vagina from last few months also I am getting white discharge coming out from vagina on and off n after few minutes its become thick cheesy clots and after this itching starts in my vaginal area what is it what do I do is It harmful. please suggest.

MD-Ayurveda, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine & Surgery (BAMS)
Sexologist, Haldwani
Hello- Under normal healthy conditions, the vagina maintains a certain amount of secretion that helps keep it moist. An increase in vaginal discharge takes place during excitement, sexual activity, masturbation, and anxiety; between menstrual periods, the day just before a period, during illness, or when a woman is physically worn out. However, vaginal discharge becomes a problem if it increases so much as to consistently stain undergarments; if it is purulent or bloodstained; or if it causes itching, soreness or burning. It can be cured with the help of ayurvedic medications and life style modification.

Dear user. TO CAUSE PREGNANCY on a woman, sperm should be ejaculated inside the vagina or fresh sperm should be inseminated inside the vagina with some means. Pregnancy only happens when other aspects are too satisfied. In the given case, there are less chances of pregnancy. Take care.

Ways To Manage Compulsive Sexual Behaviour!

MD - Psychiatry, MBBS Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery
Psychiatrist, Delhi
Ways To Manage Compulsive Sexual Behaviour!

One of the emerging psychiatric disorder that has significant medical and psychiatric consequences is compulsive sexual behaviour or hypersexuality, is an obsession with sexual thoughts in which people cannot manage their sexual behaviour. It may involve a commonly enjoyable sexual experience as self-stimulation which becomes an obsession. The person suffering from the condition may also get involved in sexual behaviours that are outside the bounds of commonly accepted conduct like paying for sex or having extramarital affairs.

Untreated compulsive sexual behaviour damages one’s self-esteem, health, job, relationships and career. However, with treatment and self-help,
one can manage compulsive sexual behaviour and learn to manage one’s urge. Males are more likely to be unfaithful than females because they have stronger sexual impulses and weaker self-control. Compulsive sexual behaviour symptoms vary in type and severity. During intense sexual impulses, one feels as if they're beyond control. This is the first and the most common symptom as the patient uses compulsive sexual behaviour as an escape route for problems like loneliness, depression, anxiety and stress. One has trouble establishing and maintaining emotional closeness, even if one is married or in a committed relationship.

The treatment for compulsive sexual behaviour involves psychotherapy and medications. A primary goal of treatment is to help one manage urges and reduce excessive behaviours while maintaining healthy sexual activities. If one has compulsive sexual behaviour, one may need treatment for mental health condition. People with compulsive sexual behaviour often have alcohol or drug abuse problems or a mood disorder such as depression.

Counselling sessions can help one learn how to manage one’s compulsive sexual behaviour. Intensive treatment programs for compulsive sexual behaviours focus on identification of core triggers and beliefs about sexual addiction. It assists in development of healthier choices and coping skills to minimize urges and deal with the preoccupation of sexual addiction. Psychodynamic psychotherapy can prove to be very useful as it focuses on increasing one’s awareness of unconscious thoughts and behaviours, and developing new insights into their motivations. Resolving conflicts using this therapy is also recommended. The other kind of treatment program is cognitive behavioural therapy. This therapy helps one to identify unhealthy, negative beliefs and behaviours and replace them with healthy, positive ones. Family therapy and couples therapy may restore trust, minimize shame and guilt thus establishing a healthy sexual relationship between partners.

Medications include anti-depressants like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, mood stabilizers and anti-androgens have also been used to treat compulsive sexual behaviour. Anti-androgens are prescribed as it reduces the biological effects of sex hormones in men thus reducing sexual urges. Luteinizing hormone is also prescribed as it reduces obsessive sexual thoughts by reducing the production of testosterone. Anti-seizure medications, naltrexone, and medications which decrease male hormones have been found to decrease the compulsive urges and impulses associated with sexual addictions for some sufferers. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Agar urine pregnancy test negative aya he to pregnancy hone ke chances kam he. Fir bhi agar doubt he to next test USG abdomen he jo ki confirm kar dega ke pregnant he ya nahi. Otherewise ese patient ko dekhe bina ham diagnose nahi kar sakte. Menses delay hone ke aur bhi kafi reasons he.
