I am 41 and going through perimenopause. I got most of my blood tests done and they were almost normal other than the hormonal imbalance. I got mammography test done and it shows heterogeneous dense breast tissue and bilateral axillary lymph nodes with fatty helum. No mammography evidence of malignancy is seen. What does it mean?

It means currently mammography report suggests your breast are absolutely normal. No signs of cancer/ malignancy. Just follow hormonal imbalance with your doctor. Take care of your mood and sleep.

Dear Doctor, Since last one week frequently my right hand and small and ring fingers are also getting numbed slightly but not completely and I am feeling that for long time. One more thing is this happens to me after the very next day of night shift I usually attend at office (but I sleep at least 4 hrs though). And 'm really getting afraid so much. Is it any kind of serious? please help me out by suggesting something to cure it.

Dear Doctor,

Probably is caused by compression of the c8 nerve in your neck. Usually this is caused by mild arthritis of the neck. Make sure you are not placing your body in a odd position in work e.g. Sleeping in a chair and make sure you are following proper ergonomic precautions. If your symptoms don't resolve then see a neurologist in person.

Hello Mr. Lybrate-user, first of all, pls calm down, this doesnot appear to be a serious problem. A lot of people experience numbness, redness and slight swelling on hands and arms while walking. This is because, while walking, most of the blood flow is diverted to legs. What you can do is that while walking, open and close your fists repeatedly. This will increase your blood flow. You may keep smileys balls in hand and squeeze them repeatedly. If this doesnot work, then you may get an ecg done, although, I doubt you will need it. So relax and keep walking. Thanks!

I also have insomnia which is killing me every night and i'm afraid that it might stay with me forever. I'm sure that I have difficulty in sleeping is because of my insomnia. I am taking lithium & alprax 0.5 for bipolar disorder, I feel insomnia please advice me some medicine.
Dear lybrate-user, Insomnia may be an early warning sign of mania or a symptom of depression. If the cause is treated, then you can sleep well. You may not need a separate treatment for insomnia. You are already taking alprax 0.5 mg which also serves as a sedative. There can be other causes for insomnia. Those need to be looked into. Please follow up with your psychiatrist.

My Father is paralysis patient so which is the best treatment medically or ayurvedic & allopathy?

MD - Psychiatry, MBBS
Psychiatrist, Patna
Paralysis occurs due to hampered blood supply to brain, either due to hemorrhage or thrombosis of blood in vessels. Hemorrhage occurs due to hypertension. Thrombosis occurs due to hypercoagulable blood state. Both condition if not controlled may give rise to recurrence of stroke hence paralysis. Allopathy has a scientific and reliable history of controling such factors and thus preventing relapse.
