There are many reasons for back pain with radiation to leg like disc disease, injury, wrong posture, infection etc. You need to see an orthopedic surgeon for evaluation of your back problem and try to find out the reason. Timely diagnosis and management can help to get you back to normal activity.

Chiropractic Treatment for Back Pain

Chiropractic Treatment for Back Pain

WHAT CAUSES BACK PAIN?

There are a whole host of reasons why you might experience back pain. Your pain might be a consequence of everyday life (such as bad posture whilst driving or when sitting at your desk) or, less often, it might be as a result of some underlying disease. The majority of cases of back pain are linked to simple mechanical problems, less than 5% signify nerve root pain and less than 2% reflect serious spinal pathology.

Back pain can be felt as a result of (most likely first):·

  • Sprains (an injury to the ligament of a joint·
  • Injury (e.g. a car or sporting accident)·
  • Muscle damage (e.g. from over exercising)·
  • Fractures caused by underlying bone disease (e.g. osteoporosis)·
  • Underlying inflammatory disease (e.g. rheumatoid arthritis)·
  • Degenerative disease (e.g. fibromyalgia)·
  • Cancer (e.g. prostate and pancreatic cancer)·
  • Infections (e.g. bladder infections and spinal infections liketuberculosis).

Simple back pain can be worsened, or triggered, by a number of factors including:·

  1.  Poor posture·
  2. A lack of exercise·
  3. Standing or bending down for long periods·
  4. Sitting in a chair that doesn’t provide enough back support·
  5. Sleeping on an unsuitable mattress·
  6. Driving for long periods without a break·
  7. Being overweight·
  8. Being pregnant·
  9. Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling loads that are too heavy.

 CHIROPRACTIC TREATMENT FOR BACK PAIN

Like osteopaths, chiropractors aim to diagnose and correct joint disorders.Although at first glance the two techniques may appear to be very similar, they are in fact quite different.

Osteopathy uses more soft tissues massage and osteopaths suggest that the benefits of their therapy are related to the improved circulation of the blood. In contrast, chiropractors suggest that their treatment improves nervous function and relieves pain in this way. Around half of all chiropractic consultations are for low back pain, including hip problems. The technique was developed in the late nineteenth century by a Canadian called Daniel David palmer.

After examining you, chiropractors are able to identify whether the contractions of the muscles surrounding the spinal column has pulled the spine out of line slightly, and is thus causing your pain. Once it has been identified, chiropractors try to rectify the problem by reducing the tension in these muscles so that the spinal column becomes straighter and exerts less pressure on your joints, thereby lessening your pain.

Chiropractic treatment is not suitable for people with inflamed joints, spinal infections or cancer.Treatment can be specially adapted to suit those people with osteoporosis or fractures.

Sir my sister is 20 years old she fall from the back sit of a bike on her back sitting on ground about 6 months ago. There is nothing found on the X-ray test. But if she walks or stand for some more time, she feels pain at night, when she takes rest in the lower portion of her back. The local orthopaedics advised some exercises to do daily two times and didn't prescribed any special medicines. But the pain is very transparent and annoying. Please suggest what to do.

Trapezius muscle strain is commonly due to improper posture when driving or working on computer or mobile or use of improper pillow. Such pain can be relieved by simple measures at home. 1) Take rest for 1-2 days. 2) Simple analgesics like paracetamol or Ibuprofen to relieve pain 3) Application of ice pack helps in new onset pain in first 24 hrs. Later on application of warm pack will help. 4) Massage locally with analgesic cream 5) Perform neck stretches and trapezius muscle strengthening exercises once pain is decreased. 6) Follow good posture habits to avoid further increase in pain. Consult your doctor immediately if pain is persistent and progressive

I am 45 yrs. Old female and I have acute lower back pain since one week. What should I do?
Back ache can be due to several reasons. It can be muscular, related to disc degeneration or prolapse, joint irritation or nerve pinching. Most common is muscle pain due to tight and weak back and abdominal muscles. Keep a positive attitude, focus more on keeping good posture especially when sitting for long hours, use lumbar support. Take frequent breaks and stretch in between. Try changing sleeping habits. Try hot or cold therapy as tolerated. Wish you speedy recovery.
