How to stop smoking and how to make other to stop smoking. What are it's advantage and disadvantage?

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
I feel really happy for you guys who have guts to digest the truth that habitual smoking is an addiction and I am very much sure that guys like you although understand the disatrous effectss of habitual smoking but out of their craving or compulsion are unable to do so.But I wll try to figure out a clear picture in front of you and let you decide how to quit this habit as I think you are strong enough to quit this habit as you have a strong mind to accept this addiction. 1.Yash,it was 16 when you sstarted smoking.Just think it yourself that was this the age to start smoking. This Is the age to relish your time, your age, free from all tensions just enjoying your Parents luxuries but you opted the other way, putting yourself into the darkness of fumes,Smoking .You just think how much money of your parents you have wasted till now. 2.Just ssee the poor people around you who cant make up for one time meals.Just think that if you were not ssmoking ,how many of them would you have fed during last 2 years and try to feel that happiness that you must have got and now you are deprived off. 3. Tell your friends, family, and other people you’re close to that you’re trying to quit. They can encourage you to keep going, especially when you’re tempted to light up. I uggest you to join a SUPPORT GROUP of people who have quit smoking by hearing their experiences with you. 4..You can quit. All you need is the proper motivation. Maybe a visit to a pulmonary clinic might help. Take a long look around at the people in the lobby. Many of them are like you (and me), they smoked for years and always had the excuse that it was just too hard to quit. Just think, if you keep lighting up, you can end up just like them. If you really want an eye-opener, go to a hospital and volunteer your services for a month or so. Every time you light up a cigarette, you get one step closer to that for an end. Be strong. You can beat this habit just like millions of people do every year. You just need a stronger reason to quit - at least a stronger reason that the one you use to defend your smoking. Good luck. I know what it feels like to be on both sides of this thing. 5.. It's important for you to reprioritize your spare time that would have been spent smoking. Try a new hobby, get out and & walk/exercise, read ... anything. Remember that cravings only last a couple of minutes. 6.Homoeopathic medicine DAPHNE INDICA 1X( Wilmar Schwabe India) Chew 2 tab 3 times daily AVENA SATIVA Q ( Dr RECKEWEG) Drink 20 drops in 20 ml fresh water twice daily To start with start early morning Brisk walking for 30 minutes and breathing deep while walking. ALOM VILOM PRANAYAM daily for 15 minute any time during the day. Report after 30 days There is always written on every cigratte case that CIGRATTE IS INJURIOUS TO HEALTH.It itself proves that we smoke only due to a habit or compulsion although understanding its after effects but reluctant to leave this monster habit.I dont think there is a single advantage of smoking cigratte apart from its primary action in a Habitual smoker that it creates mental alertness immediately after smoking. But disadvantages of smoking are countless like Ageing,Lung and mouth cancer,Breathing prolems,Resp.allergy like Asthma,Heart insufficiencies and many more.

I am 43 years old. I am suffering from hypertension and thyroid. Latest report of thyroid is t3 120 t4 11 and tsh 2....
you should be low dose of your medicines...high-carbohydrate foods such as potatoes, rice, pasta and bread, Nutrient-rich foods that improve your health may also benefit your thyroid gland, antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables more plenty of water: Blueberries, tomatoes, bell peppers, and other foods rich in antioxidants can improve overall health and benefit the thyroid gland. Eating foods high in B vitamins, like whole grains, may also help. flax oil, Selenium: Tiny amounts of selenium are needed for enzymes that make thyroid hormones to work properly. Eating selenium-rich foods, such as sunflower seeds or Brazil nuts, can be beneficial. Tyrosine: This amino acid is used by the thyroid gland to produce T3 and T4. Taking a supplement may help, Avoid few foods in hypothroidism i.e. caffeine products tea, coffee, tabcco, alcohol / wine , kale, broccoli, spinach, mustard green, cabbage, turnip, millet, cassava, linseeds, pine nuts, soy products as soy milk, tofu, soybeans, soy souce, also avoid stress. Im 20 and im suffering from hand shaking from few days im worried. I drink alcohol daily. Is it related to it.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
Im 20 and im suffering from hand shaking from few days im worried. I drink alcohol daily. Is it related to it.
Yes, it is related if your consumption is heavy. You must quit immediately. If you smoke too, the handshaking would become even more pronounced. It does not matter when you feel like drinking, as long as you need your drink. This could lead to increased tolerance levels so that over time you will need to drink more to get the same or greater effect. You need to identify why you need to drink, and go back into your childhood to find out other influences on your personality that makes you prone to addiction. Meet with an addiction counselor and work with them to sort out this drive. Your already display the classic tendency to first obsess about it and then compulsively feel driven to meet that need. The simplest thing to do is to do some other interesting activity during the evening times. Meet your oral need with some other non-intoxicating drink like soups, juices, and sodas with lime, etc. If you think that you will find it very difficult, then admit yourself to a hospital and go for de-addiction: which normally lasts for about two weeks. Then follow that up with addiction counseling from a professional for at least three years to completely get rid of the habit. If this is also not enough, then admit yourself into a de-addiction center and stay there for at least 6 months and after that attend counseling with a professional. There are medicines that help with the drinking just to ease the initial craving. Ultimately, it is your will power and the support that you receive from the medical fraternity and your close and dear ones. You must also learn to substitute and deal with the oral need, a rigid value system, the script issue, and of course look at all the genetic factors to plan a strategy not to get into what is called ‘cross addictions’ i.e. Another form of addiction that may appear alright but is in fact as bad as the primary addiction. The center or hospital and the counselor will advise and guide you on several measures and precautions you will need to take to stay with your resolve. Even after the rehabilitation you must attend AA meetings and continue this support for a long time. Your family will also need to attend some sessions and go for Al-anon meetings for their co-dependency issues. You cannot be treated in isolation because the family has gotten used to your drinking and have made some unhealthy adaptations to somehow cope. Make a serious plan with the family and whoever else’s support you can get and act on it fast. As a combination these two therapies (counseling and rehabilitation) will aid in dealing with the addiction. It will however take a long time to completely come off of the enslavement.
