Hello, you may be having headache because of stress/ refractory problems/ any ENT problem or may be Migraine Headache kindly follow advises given below: you can take(If No drug allergy) : 1. Tablet Crocin (Paracetamol 500 mg) one tablet after food when required for headache after food for 2-3 days (maximum 2 tablets with gap of 12 hour can be taken in a day) 2. Adequate sleep 6-8 hr in a day 3. Get check eyes for refractive error 4. We need to go for ENT evaluation to rule out sinusitis 5. Get BP checked 6. Regular physical exercise and meditation and yoga complete history of your headache for further management like duration, severity, aggravating factors/relieving/ triggering/ associated factor to reach diagnosis consult physician for further management.

A check up of vit d and calcium levels and do hot fermentation and stretching exercise of spine and put a towel roll under knee and press for 10 sec and release repeat 10 time if it work then ok otherwise tk physiotherapy treatment. Posture correction must.

Hello doctor, My dad aged 59 is suffering from severe pain in the knee joints and low back for the past 10 years. It's an occupational hazard but even after retiring from his job, he still gets the pain while walking or lifting things. It's so severe that it disturbs sleep and he moans all night. Can you please suggest a good remedy for this.

Ok your dad may have lumbar spondylosis and arthritis of the knee joints definitely the issue can be solved apply a aceclofenac gel and give hot water fomentation for both the knee and back. Contact privately to have a detailed discussion for treatment and prevention strategies

it seems you are suffering from c. spondolysis, take tab mobizox 1tab hs for 3-5 day, apply volini cream gen tally over back of neck and shoulders, morning and evening. use hot water towel over neck and back. it will help you. welcome for further help.

Sir, my wife is 36 year old, and last 3 months she is getting her knee pain, orthopedic doctor gave pain killers and calcium tablet for 15 days, but there is no difference in pain, after that doctor advised x ray for both knees, serum uric acid, vitamin d. All are normal, vitamin d is 36, pls suggest me some answer.

Hello Lybrate user according to Ayurveda Vata vikriti is the main factor for pain. Treatment- 1-apply prasarini oil or pranacharya restopain oil on your affected part and give hot water fomentation. 2-take yograj guggul and agni tundi vati after lunch and dinner with warm water. 3-Take maha rasnadi kwath 2-2 tsf twice a day. 4-Take pranacharya vatari capsule and syrup twice a day. Diet- Avoid fermented food. Junk food. Potato rice. Sleep well.

I have neck pain for over 15 day. I thik any vein or muscle of my neck has been disturbed. The pain arise over back portion of my neck. Please tell me some home remedies for this problem. Because my studies are affected due to this.

Ayurveda's panchkarma therapy - we have many option for you - greeva basti (specialized procedure for neck pains), localised massgae with herbal oils, localised medicated steam, pottali massage. Continue these procedures for atleast 15 days. Regular oiling of the joint will improve the lubrication also. These procedures will relax your neck muscles and give strength to your nerves and muscles of neck. Also start some yogic exercises - tadasana, dhanurasan, halasana along with these therapies. Avoid using big pillow. Do not read or usegadets while lying on bed. This will greatly help. Although some herbal medicines might also help you but after proper history taking. I am 38 years old male having a small bulge in my l5s1 in mri, on 15th march 2015, pain started in my lower back and after rest and few back exercises as suggested by doc, pain almost gone but sitting was uncomfortable. Again after 1 month, when I was brushing my teeth a swear pain started with cough and I fainted for 2 mins due to pain, again I am taking rest and taking swd and tens therapy from pt, again pain is 95 % gone, my questions are, what is the best treatment for this prob do I need to consult a neuro instead of ortho can I face the same problem in future due to coughing or sneezing should I resume my job or I need more rest how this problem is going to effect my married life kindly suggest

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You have mentioned that there is only a small bulge at l5/s1 level in your mri scan which can be found as many as 70% of the individuals. If your pain is only localized to your lower back region with no other leg symptoms like pain, numbness etc, then I would advise you not to worry too much. It is advisable for you to build up your muscles by doing intensive exercises with a trained physical therapist. Take adequate calcium and vitamin d as per your requirement. I don't see any reason for a neuro consultation right now because treatment will remain the same. You can have episodes of back pain in future as well but if you maintain your back muscles, observe good posture and avoid few things like bending forwards acutely, lifting very heavy weights etc, you should lead a pretty normal life. You can also attach your mri images and reports so that I can see and advise accordingly. Also if possible, please get x ray ls spine (ap & lateral- flexion/extension views) so that I can see whether there is any instability or not? do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Ankylosing spondylitis is a chronic inflammatory joint disease which has a genetic predisposition. It is a spondyloarthropathy mainly affecting spine and hips. There is as such no permanent cure but symptoms can be kept under control by changes in lifestyle making it as active as possible, taking anti-inflammatory medications as required, regular physical therapy etc. Please get x ray pelvis with both hips - ap view so that I can see and advise accordingly. Means now is your problem only stiffness and test are positive it is as do spine extension exercise and tk physiotherapy help to maintain your fiexbility you can use other relaxation treatment but exercise must for you bcoz in this cause spine convert in bamboo shape stiff n rigid.

LOW BACK PAIN EXERCISE DEAR U FOLLOW THIS EXERCISE LUMBAR EXTENSION STRETCHES Generally these are good for individuals who may have a disc herniation. They should be performed with caution for anyone who has spinal stenosis or any known fractures in their vertebrae. Prone Press Up: Begin by lying on your stomach with your elbows bent underneath you and palms flat on the surface. Keeping your hips and pelvis in contact with the surface, lift your upper torso off the mat with your arms, keeping your back muscles relaxed. Only go as high as you are comfortable. Perform 10 repetitions holding each one for 10 seconds each, working your way to 30 seconds Generally, the flexion based stretches are good for those with spinal stenosis or tightness through the lower lumbar musculature. Single Knee to Chest: Begin by lying on your back with both knees bent. Bring one knee up towards your chest. Perform 2-3 repetitions, holding each one for 15-30 seconds. You may feel a stretch along the lower back or buttocks area. You may also perform this with both legs up towards your chest if it is comfortable Prayer Stretch or Child’s Pose: This stretch is for the lower back muscles along the spine and is a very common yoga pose. On your hands and knees, sit back so your buttocks is resting on your heels. Reach your hands forward to lengthen your spine and feel a stretch in your middle back. You can reach your hands to either side to focus the stretch on the opposite side of your spine. Hold for 10-30 seconds and perform 2-3 repetitions. Angry Cat Stretch: This stretch can incorporate both an extension and a flexion component. You may perform either way or just one way if that is more comfortable for you. On your hands and knees, let your belly sag towards the table to increase extension through your spine (lumbar extension picture). To increase flexion through your spine, arch your back upwards, bringing your spine away from the table (lumbar flexion picture). You may hold each position for 5-20 seconds and repeat several times NERVE STRETCHES Just as you can stretch a muscle, you can stretch a nerve. Nerve stretches are very important to perform if you have any radiating pain from your lower back into your buttocks or legs. Nerve stretches are also very important to perform after lumbar surgery to ensure that there is no scar tissue adhering the nerve to any internal structures. Sciatic Nerve Stretch: This stretch should be performed if the majority of the radiating pain into the legs is felt in the buttocks, back of the leg, and/or through the calf and foot. This follows the pathway of the sciatic nerve. By stretching the nerve, it can help to desensitize it so that it will not cause as much pain. Perform this stretch by lying on your back with your hand behind one knee, preferable the leg with the sciatic pain. Straighten your knee then alternate flexing your ankle back and forth. Only hold your ankle in each position for a few seconds. Perform 10 repetitions on each side. As with beginning any new exercise, start off slowly with a very gentle stretch. Stop if you have any increase in lower back pain or sciatic pain down your leg. If unsure whether you should perform these stretches, consult your doctor or physical therapist.

Gentle massage over the affected part with lukewarm herbal Pain relieving oil for 20 minutes followed by hot fomentation. it will relax the muscles and the veins of ur affected part improving the blood supply to the organ and giving strength to it. Please avoid over-use of the part affected i.e. lifting weight - pushing or pulling heavy objects. Give proper rest to the part - let it heal with the time. This will greatly help.
