Advise me the reason for this and any suggession by way of medicine etc. Thanking you sir.

Dear , chest pain occurring on walking is definitely angina. You should start taking tab angispan tr 2.6mg bd, and tab nikon 5 mg bd and see if the pain improves. If it does not improve, get a coronary angiogram done, there could be new blockages.

Healthy Heart - 5 Must-do Lifestyle Changes For It!

MBBS, Master of Surgery - General Surgery, Magistrar Chirurgiae (Cardio-Thoracic Surgery)
Cardiologist, Faridabad
Healthy Heart - 5 Must-do Lifestyle Changes For It!

Lifestyle is one of the best defences against heart disease. All you need to do to maintain good heart health is to just make simple but significant changes to your lifestyle. By doing so, you end up minimising the risk factors associated with heart disease such as coronary artery disease.

The lifestyle changes that you must make for a healthy heart are:

1. Be physically active - Research by Harvard University shows that watching television for 2 hours a day can increase your chances of developing heart disease by 15%. But if you exercise or indulge in some kind of physical activity for about 30 minutes every day, you can significantly improve the health of your heart as any kind of physical activity improves your blood circulation as well as blood pressure.

2. Maintain a healthy body weight - Having a low body weight or a high one can also put you at risk of getting heart disease. For a good heart health, you need to protect it from fatigue and damage. By keeping your weight at an optimum level, your blood circulation, as well as body fluids, end up working efficiently, protecting your heart from unnecessary strain.

3. Have a balanced diet - Foods that are low in calories but high in fibre and nutrients are what your heart needs to stay healthy. A very common cause of heart disease is the consumption of high cholesterol foods like processed meats, desserts, etc. Including seafood like tuna or salmon, whole grains, fruits and vegetables, and lean proteins such as chicken and fish to your diet can reduce your risk of developing heart disease.

4. Manage stress - Stress is another factor that causes you to have poor heart health. To prevent the damaging effect that stress can have on your heart, exercising is what you should do. This is because when you exercise, you release endorphins (brain chemicals that trigger a feel-good feeling in your body), which help in improving your physical and mental makeup. Additionally, exercising has also been found to reduce your chances of dying from a heart attack.

5. Quit smoking - Research reveals that smoking raises your chance of getting heart disease by about 2-4 times. It causes plaque (fatty deposits) to accumulate and harden in your arteries, making your heart to exert itself harder than normal. By kicking the habit, you reduce the strain that is caused to your lungs, thereby to your heart. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a cardiologist.

Earlier was talking Telma 40 now from a month on metocard xl 50 in morning q tablet but BP is still 145/77 in evening.

Earlier was talking Telma 40 now from a month on metocard xl 50 in morning q tablet but BP is still 145/77 in evening.
Many factors can affect blood pressure, including: 1) The amount of water and salt you have in your body 2) The condition of your kidneys, nervous system, or blood vessels 3) Your hormone levels You are more likely to be told your blood pressure is too high as you get older. This is because your blood vessels become stiffer as you age. When that happens, your blood pressure goes up. High blood pressure increases your chance of having a stroke, heart attack, heart failure, kidney disease, or early death. I read your query, by the information I have in hand my advice to you would be 1) Keep a BP daily record for at least one week 2) Basic tests should be one to rule out cardiac issues 3) unless any recent evaluation has been done I would advice these test ECG ECHO Lipid Profile TSH As for medication if your BP is higher than 140 /90 for more than half of the times then you will need to increase your blood pressure medications and start taking Telmisartan again.

My friend is having Chest pain on the left hand side comes and goes. It happened previous month also mostly happens ...
The advise is to visit a doctor for a formal health check up along with some tests like Blood, urine tests and ECG. The diagnosis depends upon the clinical findings and the reports. Sometime further tests like Treadmill test or 2D echo etc are suggested to rule out cardiac reasons for the chest pain. Please revert after that along with the doctors opinion and test reports for any further clarification.

Dr. my son age 17 has bicuspid valve really I am very depressed and worried what to do please guide me but so far he never told any problem by God's grace.

General Physician,
Dr. my son age 17 has bicuspid valve really I am very depressed and worried what to do please guide me but so far he ...
This can result in obstruction of blood flow across the valve, a condition called aortic stenosis and/or valve leakage, a condition called aortic valve regurgitation. The natural course of bicuspid aortic valve varies widely. There can be severe aortic stenosis at birth, due to incomplete opening of the valve leaflets. About 20-30% of patients with bicuspid aortic valve will have other family members affected. There is no exact genetic cause known, and the inheritance pattern can be very variable although there certainly appears to be a genetic component. In patients with bicuspid aortic valve with a known family history of valve disease or aortic disease, it is definitely recommended to screen all first-degree relatives with echocardiography. Most experts would recommend that echocardiographic screening be performed in all first-degree relatives of patients with bicuspid aortic valve. As mentioned above, the bicuspid aortic valve is a valvulo-aortopathy diagnosis, which means it affects the valve and the aorta. If the valve becomes severely leaky or severely tight, then operation is performed as per usual guidelines. These are basically if symptoms develop, or there is evidence of heart failure or heart muscle dysfunction. However many patients with bicuspid aortic valve will have aortic disease without significant valve disease and may need to undergo operation of the aorta aneurysm. Some patients will require both are done. Operation for aortic aneurysm in patients with bicuspid aortic valve is recommended in those who have ascending aorta diameter >5.5 cm.
