Hello, if you are wanting to lose weight, regular exercise and diet is necessary. As you’ve already started walking for a good amount of time I suggest you to continue with this. Along with this exercise regime you should also start diet which should involve less carbohydrates which is rice, potatoes, sweets, sugary foods and also less fatty food. Try and avoid deep fried food, oily snacks, cakes, biscuits, chocolates and ice-creams. Eat more fresh food, home made food with less oil, fruits and vegetables. Weight loss should be gradual and over a period of time rather than quick. A quick and significant weight loss would result in weakness/ tiredness, also, very loose saggy skin which will become an issue after you lose weight. Depending on your lifestyle aim for few kilos weight loss over a 3 month period. Such diet and exercise regime and gradual weight loss will make you more fit and be healthy.

Hello, Heart rate can vary when you are resting and with activity. Sometimes anxiety can also increase your heart rate. It can go up to 110 or 120 beats/min in some individuals. Heart rate of 160 is high and as you are complaining of breathlessness we need to investigate the cause of your fast heartbeat. You will need an ECG and consultation regarding this.

CRP and ESR are inflammatory markers which tend to rise with inflammatory changes in the body or any kind of infection. People suffering from chronic inflammatory conditions can present with raised CRP and ESR. Infections can also present with raised CRP. So, the reason for raised CRP has to be looked for and condition diagnosed, based on this your doctor can prescribe you the medication. Methotrexate (folitrax) is a strong medication and should be used only on doctors advice, same with wysolone which is a steroid. Steroids and folitrax can have side effects, therefore should be used under careful supervision. Please consult your local doctor and take their advice.

Hi, my mom had a fainting spell today. She had loose motions since yesterday she might have gone 6 times. She was feeling weak and tired and also had body ache. Today somewhere in the afternoon while standing she had a black out and passed out. She passed out with her eyes open and her mouth clenched really tight. We had to put a spoon inside her mouth to prevent it from getting locked. She regained consciousness in 5 mins, and had no recollection of what happened. We rushed her to the doctor and the doctor checked her pressure, blood level, and temperature. But everything seemed normal. I am petrified I need a second opinion. I will be doing her blood test in a couple of days. When asked the doctor what was her reason of fainting, he said it could be epilepsy. But this has never ever happened to her before. I need a second opinion. Please please help.

Hello, Faints with or with out loss of consciousness can be due to several reasons. Yes, Epilepsy can be one of the reasons but we have to rule out other causes too. You have mentioned that she has diarrhoea, sometimes BP can go low with loose motions causing dizziness or faints. She will need further investigations to check if it is epilepsy/ neurological problem and to rule out cardiac causes. Please make sure she is well hydrated and start getting the investigations done.

Hello, symptoms of urinary infection can be fever, urine burning sensation, going not number of times for urination, blood or pus in urine, lower abdominal pain and in elderly people it can present as nausea, disorientation, poor appetite and so on. If you think you are having urine infection, you need to give a urine sample for complete urine examination and culture test. Depending on the results your doctor can treat you. Please drink lot of fluids such as water or coconut water until then. Please do not use antibiotics yet unless the investigations show that you have a urinary infection or the consulting doctor thinks that you need antibiotics straight away.

BP can vary with age, time, work and other factors. Anxiety is also one of the factors for high BP. The readings you have mentioned are not that raised and especially with BP coming to normal after 5 min, it indicates anxiety related rather than anything else, My suggestion is to stop checking BP so often and check it after one month if you are concerned.

How to prevent the disease?
What is the most use full medicine?
Dengue symptoms can vary from low to high grade fever, headaches, muscle and joint pains, pain behind eyes, and rash. It can cause potential complications in some individuals. There is no specific treatment for dengue fever. Supportive therapy is the main stay of treatment. Avoid use of aspirin and brufen and similar drugs during the illness period. You get dengue fever by mosquito bite. Therefore you can prevent this by using mosquito nets, mosquito repellents, avoiding water stagnation areas as they are the breeding grounds of mosquitoes.
