Try this for joint pains try this. Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. This will relieve your problem. Consult after 10 days.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. There could be a lot of reasons for knee pain. It can be degeneration, inflammation, infection etc which may result in pain in the knee joint. Can you tell me your age, duration of symptoms, any previous history of injury etc? also are there any s/s of inflammation like swelling, skin redness or local warmth etc? can you kindly send me your latest knee x ray and blood tests which you may have done for evaluation so that I can see and advise accordingly. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation.

For leg pain, please follow the below advise: keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

It requires detailed investigation and examination. Preliminary investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid vit d urine r/e x-ray of the affected part. Anyway it may be tried sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back, knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Do not ignore it. Let it not become beginning of a bigger problem. Make sure that patient is not allergic to any of the medicines that he/she is going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, inform.

Hello lybrate-user! Sitting for long hours at one place can really play havoc with one's health but with a little conscious effort and small changes practiced consistently one can increase health and well-being. As you have mentioned you are having problems in standing because of your backache so you should consult a doctor asap and with a few investigations the cause can be assessed and it can be easily treated. You can keep the following in mind for an overall good health. Try to maintain a proper posture while sitting, give best possible support to your lower back and do not bend down your neck too much and for too long. Take hourly breaks. Get up from your desk and go for a quick walk, just move. Avoid using Escalators and Elevators. Stretch or move in your place. Stretching is best for relaxing your muscles and removing any kind of stiffness. Keep yourself well hydrated, have plenty of water. Start having green tea or herbal tea. Sleep 6 to 8 hours. It's good that you have started with Yoga that will certainly help you out.

I am 22 years older I am suffering from back pain can you advise me for getting cure.
For your cure we need diagnosis first. You have answer some questions. Like how it started. When it is more. Which movement increases n which one decrease pain. Like bending forward increases or decrease pain. What is exact site of your pain. Any history of fever in recent past. And one x-ray.

My mother has disk problem. Unke 4 manke back k hile hue he then wt should we do . She had a lot of pain in spinal cord due to disk problem even she cannot bent or cant do work .So please give me some suggestions what should we do please?

BPTh/BPT

Start using support brace as soon as possible. Bending and lifting heavy weights is not at all advisable. She should go for regular traction to relieve stress off her disk. Ample rest and back extension exercises are required.
