Hello, in majority of the cases, the main cause is stress which makes the people intolerant, short-temper and increases the irritability. Which makes their personal life difficult. Take homoeopathic medication - schwabe's bacopa monierri 1x/ thrice daily and kali phos. 6x/ once at night - take them for 4 weeks. Management: there are few yoga poses which helps in calming your mind and relieves stress. Exercises: practice shavasana or corpse pose as it looks like a dead body. If practiced correctly and with full efforts, can relax every body part, relaxing not only the body but also the mind: spread the legs one to two feet apart, the toes are turned outwards, the heels facing each other, a comfortable distance apart. Bring the arms a little away from the body, palms turned upward. Relax the neck and allow it to turn to the side if it is more comfortable. Close the eyes and focus the attention on the body, breathing normally. Begin focusing each body part and relaxing it, then moving on. Keep the mind focused on relaxation, the breath should be normal. Relax the whole body. (the mind and body are deeply connected. If the mind is occupied by thoughts and worries then the shavasana will be unsuccessful. Therefore one has to acquire the stability of the mind along with the stability of the body.) anuloma involves inhaling through both nostrils together and exhaling each breath alternately between the left and right nostrils. The thumb of the right hand is used to manipulate the right nostril, while the pinky and ring finger are used to control the left nostril. There are many other poses of yoga like balasan, setu bandha sarvangasan, uttanasan, garudasan, savasana, triconasana, viprita karani, marjaryasana, dhyana, bhujangasana, anulom-vilum, pranayam, etc. But first learn these under a qualified yoga-teacher as many poses are prohibited in certain diseases or medical conditions! another stress-buster can be getting involved in any of your hobbies (may be a childhood hobby which you used to enjoy a lot!) - dancing, singing, painting, listening to soothing music, playing musical instruments, etc.

I'm smoking since 1 year. But I'm giving a gap between the days from the day I'm smoking. Likely if I smoke 2 cigars on Monday again I'll smoke on Friday. Does it effects badly more than a chain smoker? I'm trying to stop but I'm smoking one cigar in a week.

Dear Jagadish, If you are able to give a gap in between, it is good for you. Definitely better than a chain smoker. It is good for you to give up smoking without withdrawal symptoms making you crave for nicotine. Check whether you need to smoke cigar early in the morning. If it is so, you may need some kind of help to quit smoking. Don't use daily a bit of cigar instead of only a full cigar on mondays and fridays.

Hi. I used to get spinning feeling but it got better on its own. But today I again had this like today after being active in the mall I experienced this. I just had coffee. Along with it I got uneasy/anxiety (ghabrahat). It passed after sometime when I sat and relaxed. Yesterday I had bad neck pain for which took one combiflam tablet. I also have eardrum perforation. What cld be the reason.

Dear lybrate-user, welcome to lybrate. Memory and mind power depends mainly on three aspects. Understanding, storage and recollection. To understand what you are studying, you must be able to be attentive or concentrate. Concentration is possible when you are interested in that subject. Creative way of learning can help you concentrate and understand easily. When you are able to understand and concentrate, it is stored within your brain. If you read more and more it will be store in long term memory. Third part is retrieval. Whenever you want to retrive what you learned and stored, your brain gets the request, searches the database and retrieves the information for you. The retrieval may prove to be difficult if you are anxious, stressed, worried or tired physically or mentally. Retrieval is more easy when you are relaxed and healthy. Brain needs nutrients to keep itself sharp. Fruits, vegetables and dry fruits provide much needed nutrients for your brain. Include at least one fruit in your daily diet. Physical exercises, entertainment, hobbies, relaxation, memory games like sudoku etc help keep your memory sharp and active. Take care.

I can't control my brain and I forgot everything in same time. what could be the reason ?

There are too many to list out here but there are a few suggestions which I think will help you significantly. If you are under some stress, there will be difficulty remembering. So if you handled stress better, you will certainly improve. With regard to memory, it is very important that your brain and body is rested well to be able to recall whatever is required, rather comfortably. So, catch a good 8 hours of sleep every night. Puzzles pose problems to the brain that help it to use new pathways and neurons, which give the brain considerable exercise. It taxes the left brain to use logic to solve the myriad possibilities which other activities do not stimulate. Crosswords are excellent for vocabulary learning and use. Jigsaws and rubik cube stimulate different permutations to finally settle on the most likely one. Picture completion and anagrams help approach problem solving from several angles. Do sudoku, and memory co-relation activities and skills. Have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), nuts, avocado, eat dark chocolate, do yoga meditation exercises, etc. You need to check out, if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. When people are stressed, they tend to favor the right brain and abandon the left brain, where short-term memory resides. So, it is really very simple: deal with the stress and activate left brain functions. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. You may also meet with a counselor to take care of the stress related emotions, and then you will fare better too.

Respected sir/madam, I am 24 years old student. I do not have study problem. I think I am suffering by anxiety disorder. I am having problem like excessive worry, sleep problems, irrational fears, muscle tension, and digestion problem. Please help me with complete solution. My life is going to worst day by day. Please provide me complete solution. Once I took melzap and sertraline for one month. It feel good that time. But I stopped those drugs and now my condition is bad. Please give me permanent and effective solution. Thank you.

The reason the improvement did not stay is because sertraline should not have been stopped in one month. It should have been continued for five months. This situation is similar to fracture followed by plaster of leg. In two weeks pain reduces, but if you remove plaster and start walking, it will re-fracture. So one must keep plaster for 6 weeks. Once plaster is removed graded physical exercise will strengthen bones and muscles. Similarly, once sertraline is taken for the said duration psychotherapy or specialized counselling may be done to strengthen the mind. Hope that helps!

What kind of pill would be best for a severe stress, anxiety level and also help with depression?
To manage severe stress and anxiety, it is best to learn how to manage it by knowing yourself and your environment better so that you know who/ what can help/not help you. This is known as swot analysis and a counsellor would be able to help you with this. Also you can benefit from replacing unhealthy and negative thinking with positive and optimistic thoughts which are helpful to manage anxiety and depression. A combination of medicine, counselling, exercises, diet, life style changes and good sleep is needed to help you reduce your anxiety and depression (if you have been diagnosed earlier by a professional) otherwise I would suggest that you don't label your self with such terms as it'll affect your confidence levels. Just telling yourself that you are going through a tough time in life and are feeling disappointed will reduce the emotional burden.
