Go for hot fomentation and back stretch and back extension exs. Take frequent intervals in b/w your work sessions. If it is just bcoz of spasmodic muscles. Hot fomentation nd exs will help you with in 1-2 days. Nd if nt so. Rush to your physio for proper assessment and treatment.

I'm 34 years old male. I have been having lower backache for two weeks now. It just came suddenly. I used to carry water everyday. I felt tingling in my right leg also below the knee. I have consulted a Dr. Also. He did x-ray and gave some medications. He told x-ray is normal and its just muscle strain. But the pain still there now though not that much painful. Is it really just muscle strain or slipped disc?

Hi Thanks for your query and welcome to Lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from Fortis hospital, New Delhi. You are very young to actually have persistent back pains. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - To maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - If pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - Physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - Adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - Ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - Analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - Avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc We will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. My mother's age is 48. And she is suffering from knee pain on her right knee and it has swollen a bit also and she is unable to walk properly.

What is the gout disease. Last 5 years I have some problem with my four finger and knee joint. They are swelling when I will eat motion. Once for a 3 months. And I check with the doctor he suggest to uric acid test. But it was at that time. The swelling was very painful nearly 1day. What is the solution.

Uric acid accumulated in the joint are called gout rx is exercise and walking, take a uric acid control tablets avoid of palak of eating and drinking of hot drink like, alcohol etc.

Hello, 1.You can Apply Volini gel 1% local application twice a day for 3-5 days 2. Hot fomentation twice a day for 3 days I am giving to some common reasons for LEG PAIN 1. generalized weakness 2. Anaemia 3. physical exertion and any Trauma 4. lack of protein in Diet 5. any infection present on leg or foot 6. muscle weakness 7 abrupt start/ stop of physical exercise 8. I have pain in my knees from some days. It has started when I was skipping. What should I do.

Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Please maintain proper posture to avoid neck & back pains. Try sleeping without a pillow. Look up the net and do neck exercises daily but slowly. Do not lift heavy weights on shoulders or with hands. At this age vito. D deficiency is very uncommon. Investigate for arthritis by blood test (arthritis panel) & take good sleep at least 7 hrs. Do more physical activity by jogging in the morning &yoga.

Do hot fomentation twice daily. Postural correction- always sit with a small pillow at your low back. Sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises like bridging and bhujang asana x twice daily. Sleep on your back with a pillow under your knees or on your sides with a pillow between your knees. And get vit d levels checked. Go for regular walks follow 30-30 rule when at work. After every 30 min of work. Do 30 sec of stretching or stand and walk a bit.

This could be due to lumbar spondylosis with nerve root compression. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Use no pillow under the head. Any way take paracetamol 250mg od & sos you will need other supportive medicines also. Do back (spine) exercises contact me again if need be. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take you may have to use lumbosacral support for some time. Avoid painful act/activities. My Mother has weakness and not able to walk since she feels as if she does not have legs, still she walk, her age is 69 she has High BP problem and recently she had fever cold and cough. Last week she was admitted also due to high BP problem but got discharge since 2D echo test was normal. Please suggest whom should I concern. She is able to walk but since due to weakness in legs she is not able to walk much.

Hello, Measure your temperature and tell me reading Tell me if you are having other symptoms like cough/ throat pain/ burning urine/ stomach pain so that we can confirm cause of fever. And Get your following test done and review with reports 1.CBC 2. Urine R/M 3.Typhidot 4. Malarial antigen 1. Avoid exertion 2. Take tablet paracetamol 500 mg after food (If No Drug Allergy) as and when required for fever more than 99 f (maximum 3 tablets with gap of 8 hr can be taken in a day) for 3 days 3. Lot of fluids to be taken consult me again with reports

I am 61 years old healthy male without any history of disease or pain. I am physically fit and now also give lectures for five hours every day to students. I regularly attend gym for five times a week where I do cardio for half an hour and weight exercises for another half an hour without much strain. Can I do weights at this age? will it have any adverse effect on my health later? pl advice. Thank you.

I have got my meniscus swollen of left knee. Its pains like anything. I had my ligaments ruptured around 10 years ago. I'm 27 now. Now the point is I want to go to vaishno devi which is around 13 kms of ascending slope. Can I make it. If any medicine can help then do tell. I can't even walk 2 kms at present time.
