I Am diabetic, level is under control or slightly above.  I am now aged 62.  I am active, I had my Right leg last (little) finger got amputated 5 years before. I got over the last few months my left leg thumb finger enlarged (due to bare foot walking only at Temples and not daily)  Suddenly the wound burst out and admitted in the diabtic hospital.  They did all tests and surgery done for the wound.   I was bedridden for 4 days at hospital.  Though the results of all tests are good all these are done and on account of that I need to pay a huge amount. Why this way of handling? They also put me in insulin though I told them the very minimum dosage puts me in shivering.  They advised me to reduce it based on reaction and after 45 days of surgery now I hv been advised to stop insulin.  As these are expensive, what is the right way of diagnosis so that money needs to be spent exhorbitant and time (bedridden for longer time) for patients can be better utilised.
