Hello, Thanks for your query. I appreciate your efforts for medical consultation in so much distress. Corex is a cough syrup and it contain chlorpheniramine maleate (CPM) and codeine phosphate. CPM causes sedation. Codeine is an opioid compound which causes feeling of wellbeing and it is responsible for corex addiction. Opioid are highly addictive substance. It lead to psychological and physical dependence on it. Sudden stoppage of corex lead to severe withdrawal like anxiety, lack of sleep, diarrhea and body ache etc. Which make it impossible to leave corex without help. Apart from that patient motivation is also needed to quit it. To quit corex help of psychiatrist is needed as deaddiction is a complex and specialised work. For de addiction from corex following steps are followed: -Consent of the patient: So motivate him for treatment. -Motivational interviewing: by the psychiatrist. -Stoppage of corex with prevention of discomfort or withdrawal by safe and long acting opioid compounds. Slowly tapering and stoppage of opioid compound over a period of few days. -Relapse prevention counseling. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. I am facing some problem like suddenly day time my mind be absent means i forget though i know where i am. but my mind be totally absent. and sometime at night time as per my near one said that my body was be hard and my eyelid be more opened. and after few minutes i be normal in both case.

I agree with Dr. Manoj Raghavan. Additionally you may look at panic anxiety attacks that may be causing both symptoms. They are normally sudden and erratic, and cause blackouts and rigid tensions in the body. If you are in your teens, then there could be some childhood trauma underlying this reaction. It is a wonderful phenomenon that nature offers to seek the resolution to this problem stemming from childhood during this period. Panic attacks are related to fear: you are afraid of something real or made up that is causing you to react in this fashion. You may not be totally conscious of it though. Talk to a counselor and see if you can locate the cause. In the meantime do some vigorous physical exercises daily, and attend Yoga classes to learn some relaxation techniques. Deep breathing will help to temporarily stave off the reactions but not enough to resolve it.

I am 66 years old and diabetic and on medication for almost last 16-18 years. However it is moderately in control. These days I have started feeling an itch on my body skin during winter, I am hypertensive also for last about thirty years. I am taking the following medicines. For BP Tazloc trio 80mg. And amufru, and proponolol 40mg. For Prostrate I am Taking Urimax D for last about six years. Foe Diabetic I am Taking Glucomet forte BD, Zita OD, Pioz 7.50mg+500 od. Kindly advise can it be related to disease or the side effects of one of the medicines.

Sir, it is unlikely because of medicines. It is due to your skin dryness. You can start applying Venusia Max cream twice a day for full body. Dont use soap everyday while bathing. When you want to apply soap, you can apply Zyndet bar. Please dont use scrub or loofah during bath and when you wear any wollen clothing, use a layer of cotton clothing in between

Cleansing stomach is a misnomer believed by common men and quacks. STRESS CONTROL There are many ways to tame your stress and keep it at bay. Here are tips to tame your stress today, and keep the stress monsters at bay. 1. Perform diaphragmatic or “deep breathing” exercises. 2. Lie face down on the floor and begin breathing deeply and slowly, with your hands resting under your face. Do this for five minutes. 3. Sit in a reclining chair. Put a hand on your abdomen and a hand on your chest. As you breathe, make sure the hand on your abdomen is moving up and down rather than one on your chest. If the hand on your abdomen is moving you are breathing deeply and slowly. 4. Try progressive muscle relaxation or “deep muscle” relaxation. Progressively tense and relax each muscle group in your body. Learn the difference between muscle tension and relaxation. 5. Meditate. Use visualization or guided imagery to help you learn to be one with your thoughts. Sit quietly with your eyes closed, imagining the sights, sounds and smells of your favorite place, such as a beach or mountain retreat. 6. Exercise regularly or take up yoga.

How To Control Extreme Anger

Anger is among the gamut of emotions we exhibit as a reaction to a situation, and it is a 'normal' emotion too as long as it is kept under control. Some people have the propensity to explode when pushed to the extreme. They keep swallowing their emotions until they can finally do it no more, and erupt like a volcano. Others dealing with extreme anger are like a ticking time bomb. You'll never know what you unwittingly say or do can trigger an explosion. In either case, anger that cannot be controlled comes with a physical reaction.

Your heart beats faster preparing you for both action and reaction. Your breathing quickens. You may clench your fist, tighten your shoulders and go into a defensive position. The problem arises out of the fact that it is almost impossible to feel anger and empathy at the same time. An angry person is seldom sensitive to the well being of his victim, and hence may lash out verbally and sometimes physically. Such things done in the heat of the moment mostly leaves us with regrets. So here are a few ways to deal with extreme anger.

  1. Acknowledge it: The first step in solving a problem is recognizing that you have one. The fundamental problem here is that people believe they are on the right track and refuse to budge from their views. It is essential to realize that this step is not about deciding whether you are right or wrong, but acknowledging the fact that your reaction to the situation can be channeled in a better way. When getting someone to acknowledge their anger problem, be careful as to not use negative words like wrong, false and shouldn't. Instead, influence with positive words like can and should. Instead of saying 'You are wrong to react like this', you can say, 'I understand what you are feeling. Is there a way we can resolve this situation?'
  2. Recognize the signs: Once you know that your problems exist, you can try devising ways that will work for you in dealing with the situation. You can count to 10 to calm yourself or simply decide to not speak until you can calm yourself. Knowing that you may enter into an argument in a situation, you can list down the points that you feel strongly about and discuss each of them one by one. Working your way through a finite list gives a better opportunity to reach closure at the end.
  3. Find ways to let it go: Not all arguments end in closure. A lot of unsaid justifications cloud our mind repeatedly leaving us seething from the inside. Research has shown that the neurological anger response lasts less than two seconds. Beyond that it takes a strong will to stay angry. Once you realize how much your anger is consuming your mind, decide to free your mind with meditation and other calming exercises. Tell yourself that some people and issues simply don't deserve your anger, emotion, reaction or time.

Dear Mr. lybrate-user, Anxiety and stress is often percieved by different people in different ways. In your case, getting stressed on even small things can be suggestive of an underlying psychiatric disorder (mainly anxiety spectrum disorder). The best way forward is to get yourself evaluated by a psychiatrist. Accordingly, treatment can be started in form of medications or psychotherapy. In addition, you should consider learning relaxation exercises like meditation and deep breathing. Start exercising daily. Talk to someone close to vent your feelings daily. Dear Lybrate user. I can understand. Memory and mind power depends on three aspects. Understanding, retention and recollection. Recollection is easy if your retention is proper and flawless. Retention is possible when you are able understand what you read or learn. To understand you should have concentration. Concentration comes from effective learning techniques based on creative and active learning. Physical exercise, outdoor games, entertainment, socializing coupled with systematic learning improves your memory and mind power. Vegetables, fruits and nuts are perfect for memory. Brain games like sudoku and jigsaw puzzles helps too. Avocados, Beetroots, Blueberries, Broccoli. Celery, Coconut Oil, Dark Chocolate etc are good for improving concentration and memory. I suggest online education counseling. Take care.

I am feeling very low, mentally. I haven't done anything in my life, the girl I like, left me and got a good job. I failed two years in college, people like to not talk with me, I don't have anyone to share my story. People are very judgmental this days. I can do better than the whole batch do. Hi Lybrate user First of all, try to increase your self- esteem and in order to increase your self - esteem, you have to challenge and change the negative beliefs you have about yourself. At first you may feel like it is impossible but there are a lot of different techniques you can try to help youself - Do some activities daily that you enjoy. Try not to compare yourself to other people. Try to do regular exercise, eat healthy and get enough sleep. Set a goal for yourself and try to achieve them, it may be small but when you achieve them, you feel satisfied and proud of yourself and certainly you will feel more positive about yourself. Thanks.

Please give him time. Your running after him, pleading to him to tell you the problem will not be helpful. You will have to be patient till he comes back to you. If he does-you win. If he does not- at least you will save yourself the pain of begging and being shown the door.

What is the best way to get children in good state of mind during the adulthood .The studies in our family is badly affected during this period. Two of my brother is have gone mad after getting pretty good results in class 8th or so. Is it hereditary.
