Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily. Apply hot fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front.

Mix equal quantities of powdered fenugreek seeds, turmeric and ginger powder. Take one teaspoon daily in the morning and evening. For dry fomentation of the affected joints, take a cloth and fold it into four, fill it with hot and sand make a potli (bag) out of it. Use this bundle for the fomentation of different joints. This is very helpful in reducing pain and swelling.

I have been operated in august 1997 for femur fracture in solapur at kothadiya nursing home. In 2004 the implant from femur was removed at same hospital. Nowadays while gym workout I am having little pain and discomfort at region of fracture. Kindly advice

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Some bit of discomfort can take place especially due to wasting which happens in a limb which has been previously operated, sometimes there is cutaneous nerve damage at surgical sites which may cause pain. Please get a fresh x ray done so that we can see how your union looks like. Also get tests like esr, crp, serum vitamin d levels and send it across to me so that I can give an opinion. Core strengthening exercises- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day.

Your lumbar nerve roots are most probably pinched in the intervertebral disc which might be getting away from its natural position. You should get an MRI examination of your Lumbo Sacral spine and consult further with reports. Till then avoid forward bending, lifting heavy objects and avoiding soft mattresses for sleeping. A lumbo sacral belt is advisable.

Calf stretches standing calf stretch stand away from a wall and put your fight foot behind you and be sure your toes are facing forward. Lean forward at the ankle while bending the right knee and keeping your heel on the ground. Hold this for 30 to 60 seconds. Repeat 10 times a twice a day.

It might be of muscle fatigue and do take balanced diet and avoid stress anxiety and anticipating the things do regular physical activity and breathing exercises for about 30 minutes regularly best wishes.

I have fracture in right hand in below wrist. Its my first winter. It is said cold disturb the movement, bring stiffness and causes pain. So is there any lotion or cream or ointment to overcome this problem or any pad, cover or band. Tell me does wearing band sort of thing harm injury.

No doubt you have to protact your hand from old. You can do so with the help of wollens. Physiotherapy helps a great deal. Local applicants don't give any permanent relief.

Dear lybrate user, you should take vitamin d for a month. Also take mag. Phos 12 x with hot water thrice daily four tablets at a time for five days. Do massage of your legs with seasame oil on the calf muscles daily at night for five to 10 days

Advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold.

Make sure your blood sugars are under target. Pain killers are not safe in daibetic, minimize the use of pain killers.
