I am very thin and I will turn 18 on october and I am not ne able to gain wait. I have tried many diet routines nd joined gym too but after all these things I am not be able to gain weight. So please help me out to gain wait.

B.Sc. - Dietitics / Nutrition, Nutrition Certification,Registered Dietitian
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Delhi
To gain weight you should eat more calories than you burn. Plus not only you have to eat calorie dense food but you have to keep in mind that what you are eating is healthy too. In the process of weight gain you do not want to put weight in an uneven manner and look unhealthy rather than looking bright and healthy. 1.Start with changing your lifestly. Start working out if you are not active. The biggest myth that prevails now a days is that thin people do not need to work out. This is wrong. When you challenge your body, it is forced to grow. But this growth can only be possible if you are eating enough food to let the body absorb and grow in size and muscles. 2.Eat Healthy – Stop drinking and smoking too much if you are indulged in it. Limit your intake of junk food, pepsi, sugary stuff etc. Do not at all starve yourself. Make it a habit to eat something healthy every 3 hours. This means you have to eat 6 small meals in a day. Your Daily food intake should ideally consist of – a.Have plenty of nuts, dry fuits and seeds. Almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, figs, dates and raisins. They are full of healthy fats needed by a human body. B.Good amount of fruits and vegetables – Bananas, apples, pomegranate, green leafy vegetables. Fruits and vegetables helps in absorption of food in the body and together, completes your daily nutrition need. C.If you are a non- vegetarian - Eat eggs, chicken etc. D.Eat whole grains – Try to have multi grains spread throughout the day. Wheat, brown rice, oats, bajra, daliya etc should be taken in multiple meals in a day. E.Eat Sprouts – Chana and moong which are full of protein and nutrients. F.You can supplement your diet with good quality multi-vitamin capsules. If you are lacking in protein, you can buy a high quality whey protein and have it with banana shake twice a day. G.You can take natural food items like wheat grass which is full of essential nutrients which helps in weight gain. Try to be patient while you are on the process of weight gain. Results take time to show. Just follow the regimen of weight gain religiously and you will soon start seeing the results.

I can not control my masturbating I do it 4 times a week once a day So what shld be my diet to produce my sperms so that it doesn't effect me in future. For eg. Some juices or something else.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
Masturbation is regarded as a normal, healthy sexual activity. In general, the medical community considers masturbation to be a natural and harmless expression of sexuality for both men and women. It does not cause any physical injury or harm to the body, and can be performed in moderation throughout a person's lifetime as a part of normal sexual behavior. It will not affect you or your ability to have children in the future. If you wish to reduce the frequency of masturbation: It originates from brain, due to thinking about sex. Hence: ·     Do not watch adult material. ·     Concentrate more on your studies or work. ·     Exercise regularly.

Soy Milk - Should You or Should You Not Drink it?

Diploma in dietetics, PG certificate in Diabetes Education, BPTh/BPT, Verified Certificate in Nutrition for health promotion and disease prevention
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Gurgaon
Soy Milk - Should You or Should You Not Drink it?

Do you consume soy milk on a regular basis? Soy milk is full of essential nutrients and is a source of complete protein for vegns and vegetarians. However, some people avoid taking soy milk as several compounds similar to the female hormone estrogen are present in soy milk. In spite of having several cons, the pros of drinking soy milk are significant and essential for maintaining good health.

  1. Nutrients in soy milk: Soy milk contains protein in large amounts and is fortified with micro nutrients such as vitamin D, calcium, phosphorous, vitamin A, vitamin B12 and Riboflavin. One cup of soy milk contains about 8 grams of protein. Soy milk also contains Alpha Linolenic Acid or ALA, an Omega-3 fatty acid, which the body requires for proper functioning. The micro nutrients contained in soy milk are similar to those present in cow milk.
  2. It is lactose-free: Cow milk contains lactose, which is a natural sugar and many people find it hard to digest it. Soy milk is completely lactose free. Hence, if you have a milk allergy or are lactose intolerant, soy milk serves to be an ideal nutritional replacement without having any negative side effects on your body.

Health benefits
There are several health benefits, which are obtained by drinking soya milk. It is free of dietary cholesterol, trans fat and saturated fat, which indicates that your risk of heart disease is reduced. Drinking 25 grams of soy milk as a part of a healthy diet prevents the occurrence of heart diseases. Soy contains isoflavones which help in the prevention of hormone associated cancers such as breast cancer, prostate cancer and endometrial cancer.

Concerns
In spite of having several health benefits, there are some potential concerns associated with soy milk and its consumption. According to some studies, soy can affect or impact fertility in men. Soy may also increase the activity of thyroid hormone and reduce thyroid function. Moreover, milk is considered to be more effective than soy protein in boosting lean muscle mass.

Soy milk accounts for being one of the most ideal non dairy milk varieties, if you are concerned about matching its nutrient content with cow’s milk. Recently, there have been some controversies regarding the benefits of soy milk as GMOs or genetically modified organisms are used in it. However, there are many soy milk manufacturing brands which do not use GMOs. Moreover, there is no evidence about GMOs being harmful to the body. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor.

M.B.S.(HOMEO), MD - Homeopathy

Main trigger factors to dry face symptoms listed below are some main trigger factors to dry face skin for a lot of people but be sure to track your responses to see what yours are: 1) weather that is too dry with low humidity, too hot or brashly cold along with the irritating effects of smog and pollution 2) illness, skin diseases, prolonged stress all disturb the balance of our bodily systems 3) bathing too frequently with water that is too hot or even soaking too long in a daily or even weekly bath 4) sensitivity to certain soaps and lotions that contain harmful synthetic ingredients that are harsh and corrosive to your skin 5) over exposure to uv rays to the point of sun burn which damages the skin with long term negative effects including age spots 6) alcohol, smoking and caffeine can visibly cause dry face skin. 7) lack of certain vitamins such as vitamin a, omega 3, zinc and b complex which all work together to feed and maintain skin structure 8) severe diarrhea and vomiting, a high fever, profuse sweating during exercise or simply not drinking enough liquids 9) hypothyroidism, a condition that occurs when your thyroid produces too few hormones, reduces the activity of your sweat and oil glands, leading to rough, dry skin 10) age, your skin tends to become drier because your oil-producing glands are less active, cells shed more slowly making your complexion appear rough and dull.

I have thyroid n my level was 6.2n now it is 3.8 taking thyroxine 25mg tablets and I feel fatigueness all the time so kindly suggest something so that I can be energetic all day without taking energy tablets.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
Chitraji, with current tsh level on 3.8 milli units/ml, your thyroxine dose is correct. At that level of tsh all the symptoms get fully suppressed. Feeling tired is seen when tsh levels are higher meaning hypothyroidism is not in control. If you still feel fatigued, get your hemoglobin checked, and if it is low take appropriate treatment. In addition, follow all the guidelines about avoiding soy beans, soy containing products, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, radish, mustard, peanuts and coffee. Consume more of green leafy vegetables and fruits and use whole grain flour for making chapati and roti. Exercise daily for at least 1 hour. By following this you will feel energetic.

Vaidya Visharad
Ayurveda, Narnaul
It would be better for you to substitute your coffee with green tea as it has natural antioxidants as well as will help in reducing your appetite. • Consume two or three cups of green tea every day to burn fat and calories in your body and to improve your metabolism. • The caffeine in the green tea helps in proper functioning of the heart and also reduces bad cholesterol in your body.
