Massaging your gums daily with eucalyptus or peppermint oil in a circular motion throughout the mouth will increase the blood activation and will keep your gums healthy and safe.

I could sense little blood from my tooth when I sleep. Its not regular but I noticed today also when I brush. What does that mean. What should I do?

Dear Lybrate user As you have indicated that you are suffering from asthma and uses inhaler, this very condition can be the reason for your oral condition. Asthma patients have a tendency to have dry mouth because of abnormal breathing. Also inhalers can induce some gum problems. However you can try to hydrate yourself after every inhalation. This along with good oral hygiene can help you with the bleeding gums. Please visit your dentist to learn more about gum disease and asthma. This will help you reduce the occurrence and manage your gums condition effectively.

I am 21 year old. I just noticed a kind of small hard bone behind my left jaw. It does not pain. And can be felt when I put my finger deep inside and is also not visible and unmovable. The thing that bothers me is that I dont feel it in my right jaw. Should I consult anyone please answer.

BDS, MDS
Dentist, Delhi
This probably is a molar teeth which you are feeling as hard bone. Get an x ray done of that area. Things will get clear. You can send me that x ray.

You may consider invisalign in that case. It is an orthodontic treatment without braces. But yes it is costly.

For bad breath keep your stomach clean. Or go for cleaning and polishing of teeth. And for whiten teeth. One can go for teeth bleaching.

Hello, you can apply baking soda over it or do baking soda in water mouth rinses. This will help to heal your ulcers. If they still persist, you need to consult a physician and get your vitamin B levels checked. If required take supplements for it.

Self motivation is the best way. The chewing gums in the market are just to help you with quitting but you need to be strong willed.

Is it better to use two toothpaste in a day? (For eg: Colgate in morning & patanjali in night)

BDS, MDS
Dentist, Gorakhpur
It is not toothpaste but the technique you use to clean the teeth will impart good oral hygiene. For best results you can go for professional cleaning every 6 months, and for maintaining the the same brush twice daily using the right technique. You can use any toothpaste.

We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

I get my teeth scaled almost after 2 years and after that my gums start bleeding. I brush my teeth every morning and evening. Doctor says brush properly but I know that I do it. What can be the reason. I am not diabetic and overall have a good health.

BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
There are so many causes of bleeding gums - - brushing too hard - poor oral hygiene. - vitamin deficiency - taking blood thinners or other medications - bleeding or clotting disorders - mouth sores - other medical problems, including diabetes, heart disease, leukemia or scurvy Few advice to stop bleeding gums-- - visit to a dentist for professional cleaning once in a year - use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water to keep the area clean. - Avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums.

I had cavity in my molar I dentist removed that and suggested for root canal but now he is saying the tooth can't be saved because it is damaged badly and he is saying to remove it and to affix an artificial tooth I have 32 teeth in my mouth what I do now is this safe to affix an artificial tooth or should I stay without a molar tooth.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
You must go for replacement of the missing tooth always, either removable or fixed denture or implant. If left untreated, leads to drifting of the opposite and adjacent tooth towards the missing space.

My problem is every night after I sleep lots of water coming into my mouth. Its too irritating me. How to control it. Is there any home tips for that. please suggest me?

MDS, Fellow of Academy of General Education (FAGE), BDS

Its not water but your salivation which might be high causing this issue for you. Try brushing your teeth at night time before bed, it might help.
