Dealing With Leucoderma

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Dermatologist, Delhi
Dealing With Leucoderma

Leucoderma is more commonly known as vitiligo. It is characterized by white patches developing on your body and it can happen to any part of the body. The reason why vitiligo occurs is because melanocytes, which comprise the pigment known as melanin, get damaged. Melanin imparts your skin its color, hence, a lack of it results in vitiligo. Here are the exact causes, symptoms and treatment of vitiligo:

Causes:

  1. Vitiligo occurs when the melanocytes, which comprise the pigment "melanin", get damaged.
  2. However, it is worth note that the exact cause of vitiligo is unknown although it does affect dark skinned people a lot more. There have been many theories about what causes this disease however.
  3. Vitiligo, being an autoimmune disease, is caused when the melanocytes attack your immune system.

Symptoms:

  1. The most common symptom of leucoderma is that white patches develop on the body.
  2. The white patches appear rapidly at first followed by a rather stable period where the disease does not progress any further.
  3. Leucoderma can even affect the hair and eyelids and it is extremely rare for pigmentation to come back to normal.
  4. Finally, it is worth note that leucoderma has high chances of occurring to the areas of the body which are exposed more to the sun, areas where there were injuries before as well as the area around moles.

Treatment:
Leucoderma can be easily cured with Ayurvedic treatment. Phototherapy and laser also help to treat the condition faster.

Who is at risk?
Men and women are equally likely to suffer from vitiligo. However, factors such as having a family history of vitiligo or leucoderma and having autoimmune disorders make you more susceptible to leucoderma.

Hlw sir, I have a oily skin and I need to know how could I take care of my oily skin, if possible please suggest me some products.

BAMS
Ayurveda, Ambala
*To control the oily secretion you should maintain your hormonal level. Because imbalance in hormone level causes excessive oily secretion on face. So do not take stress and do exercise daily such as running, jogging. Do long breathing pranayams daily for 10 minutes. • Drink 7 -8 glass of water daily. Apply rose water on your face daily for 5 minutes. * Take proper sleep of 6 to 7 hrs daily. • Use a face pack of fuller's earth (multani mitti) with rose water one time in a day for seven days. It removes toxins from skin. *You can apply cucumber juice or mixed with curd for 5 minutes and rinse with water.

I m losing hair very quickly and have tried all shampoo but no effect yet. I m not sure what else can I do.

Vaidya Visharad

Lubricate your hair. Using a moisturizer greatly reduces the chances of split ends and promotes hair growth by diminishing breakage. However, to avoid overtly oily hair, use only a little moisturizer or try lubricating your hair a couple of hours before hair wash. Moisturized hair will attract dust if you go out.

I am 30 years male with severe hair thinning and hair loss kindly suggest what i do?

Certified Diabetes Educator, Registered Dietitian (RD), PGDD, Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (B.U.M.S), General Physician
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
Is your hair loss accompanied with greying of hair and have they become very thin? your hair needs a very high protein well-rounded diet. Hair and nails are the last organs to get nutrition in the body, hence only if all the organs get sufficient nutrition and proteins, only then the remaining nutrition would be used for hairs. A strand of hair is composed of mostly protein, which means your hair needs protein to grow. Hence a therapeutic diet prescribed by a registered dietitian can help a lot in hair growth. Besides diet excessive stress, current/past dandruff and some medication are conclusively known to retard hair growth and promote hair loss. - cut down on the use of hair spray, hair gels, and styling creams that contain harsh chemical ingredients, which can dry out the scalp and cause the formation of flakes. Also harsh treatments such as perms, colours, relaxers etc take a toll on the health of your hair. - avoid changing your shampoo and conditioner constantly. Stick to one good mild cleansing shampoo for six months before changing. - excessive exposure to the sun, pollution, rain water and dust without proper protection makes the hair dry, brittle and limp. Use a live in conditioner during the rains to protect it from the humidity and wash and oil it regularly to maintain a healthy scalp. I may also prescribe medications like biotin or minox. That are proven to help in hairgrowth and repair I being a both a registered dietitian (rd) and doctor have been successfully helping patients with their problems through a holistic approach using customized therapeutic diet and medications. I will also suggest home remedies. Do reply back for private consultation for rx.

Hy plzz someone suggest me something I want to get rid of these harsh acne and their marks on my face. Which makes look dull n my skin also losing fairness do not know what to to I have tried many things but still no effect n my t shape oily problem is to much plzzz doc help me out.

BHMS
Homeopath,
Dear Lybrate User, Pimples/ Acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory skin disease which develops due to blocking of the hair follicles in skin. These blockages occur due to 4 abnormal processes: 1) Excess sebum production due to androgens 2) Excessive deposition of the protein keratin leading to comedone formation 3) Infection of Propionibacterium acnes (P. Acnes) bacteria on the hair follicles 4) Local release of pro-inflammatory chemicals in the skin. In order to stop the formation of pimples the aforesaid four causes should be terminated. Now the bitter truth is neither can you stop the overproduction of androgen or keratin protein nor can you stop the release of pro-inflammatory chemicals because all these processes takes place internally in your skin. However you can stop the accumulation of P. Acnes bacteria on your skin by preventing your skin from getting oily. Always keep a handkerchief with you whenever you go outside. You should wipe off the slightest amount of sweat from your face as soon as you perspire On entering your room from outside wash your face with an oil-free, non-moisturizing face wash. Take a low carbohydrate diet. Do some exercise daily. Drink a lots of water to avoid constipation. Avoid pricking the pimples or popping the sebum as it may lead to black pigmentation & permanent scar formation. You can also take Homoeopathic CALCAREA PHOS 200, 5 drops, thrice daily, in empty stomach Also you can apply Homoeopathic Mother Tincture BERBERIS AQUIFOLIUM Q on the dark spots on your skin which are produced after the resolution of the pimples. Kindly note that this medication may not be sufficient enough to take care of your problem. These medicines are based on the symptoms of your diseased condition & these medicines need to be complemented by further deep-acting remedies in order to permanently eliminate the underlying cause of the disease. So I would suggest you to consult me privately via Lybrate as it is very necessary to diagnose the proper underlying cause of your problem if you are wishing for a permanent relief from your problems. A permanent annihilation of the underlying cause of the disease will not only provide you relief from your troubles but it will also cease any chance of further relapse of that particular disease condition.

* Don't scratch or pinch your pimples. This will cause more damage---causes scars, pores and black spots. * Avoid fried and oily foods. * Prefer fruits and green vegetables. * When you apply any cream, sun screen and the like, clean your face at the earliest, so that there will be no adverse action of the chemicals on the delicate skin of face. *Your skin ‘breaths’ through its pores which are not to be closed for long. Blocking pores by creams may cause more pimples. HOMOEOPATHIC medicines are taken internally. Hence, NO DIRECT CONTACT with your delicate and sensitive skin, thereby no problem of skin allergy. Homoeopathy has good treatment for your problems without causing adverse effects. To start with, take Pulsatilla 200—once daily in the morning and give feedback after 5 days.

Mesotherapy: 7 Benefits Associated With it

Body molding and contouring is one of the ways in which one can tweak and create a more pleasant appearance. There are several cosmetic and other types of procedures that can help in this regard. Mesotherapy is one of the few non-invasive, body molding techniques that includes infusing greasy tissues with extraordinary mixes and combinations. This comprises of plant concentrates, amino acids, vitamins, minerals and catalysts that work together to separate fat cells and dispense with the cells from the body actually. The infusion additionally contains sedatives and solutions to diminish any pain that may be experienced during the procedure.

Procedure: With mesotherapy, a series of injections are administered just underneath the surface of the skin. These injections can be administered to the thighs, hindquarters, knees and guts. Within a matter of days, the fat cells start to separate and dissipate. These injections have homeopathic and other pharmaceutical properties and qualities built into them for a winning combination.

Advantages

This procedure has a number of benefits in terms of the way it is carried out. Mesotherapy offers a few advantages for individuals that would prefer not to experience surgery to lose a couple ""vanity"" pounds.

  1. It is a non-invasive surgery that does not require hospitalization or painful incisions and cuts on the body for administration of the elements.
  2. It does not require general anesthesia, which makes it a simpler process in terms of recovery.
  3. This procedure can easily be performed on an outpatient basis so that the patient is able to go back home soon after the procedure.
  4. It delivers even results throughout the body due to proper distribution of the medication.
  5. It gives rise to better dissemination and blood flow in the treated territory.
  6. It also prevents muscle fits.
  7. Offers dependable results depending on the whether or not the individual maintains a proper diet and lifestyle.

Things you should remember before opting for it

Mesotherapy too has some risks associated with it, so it is imperative to cast a glance on them and discuss the same with the doctor.

  1. Smoldering sensation can be experienced during and after the technique.
  2. Redness and swelling for a few days after the system
  3. It can become an expensive affair.
  4. Some wounds may be expected.
  5. One may experience allergic reactions to the chemicals and mixes infused.
  6. Danger of disease at the infusion site.
  7. Probability of perpetual swelling and irregularities under the skin.
  8. Unnecessary disturbance and irritation of the skin and its tissues.
