Cholesterol level should be measured at least once every five years in everyone over age 20. The screening test that is usually performed is a blood test called a lipid profile. Experts recommend that men ages 35 and older and women ages 45 and older be more frequently screened for lipid disorders. The lipoprotein profile includes: Total cholesetrol LDL (low-density lipoprotein CHOLESETROL also called "bad"CHOLESTETROL HDL (high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, also called "good" cholesterol) TRIGLYCERIDES (fats carried in the BLOOD from the food we eat. Excess calories, alcohol, or sugar in the body are converted into TRIGLYCERIDES and stored in fat cells throughout the body. High triglycerides and cholesterol can cause atherosclerotic heart disease or narrowed coronary arteries in the heart can cause the symptoms of angina, when theheart muscle is not provided with enough oxygen to function. Decreased blood supply to the brain may be due to narrowed small arteries in the brain or because the larger carotidarteries in the neck may become blocked. This can result in a transient ischmic attack or stroke. Peripheral artery disease describes gradual narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs. During exercise , if the legs do not get enough blood supply, they can develop pain , called claudication . Other arteries in the body may also be affected by plaque buildup causing them to narrow, including the mesenteric arteries to the intestine and the renal arteries to the kidney. Change life style .do meditation, yoga, Go walk daily, do any one physically activity daily i.e.play any game., Avoid fast foods, oily foods, junk foods, alcohol, smoking, fatty foods, non-veg.,avoid stress, take plenty of water in day time. lybrate-user, you have the solution to your problem. You MUST plan properly and take structures meditation and mind calming classes. Be with nature more often and appreciate the different faces of each vision. Nature is prefect even if no two things are alike. We should learn to be like nature, appreciative of the variations offered before us. Take ashwaandha and Brahmi as tonics. They will help you increase your mental tolerance. Great are the people who can smile at every variation in life. There is beauty and fun in it too. Try this approach.

Hello, I am getting pain in the left chest part. I have taken diagnosis. In one hospital they diagnosed ECG, 2D ECHO mentioned as infection in heart valve and it's not in serious condition and prescribed to take pentids 400 tab till 40y. In another hospital did same diagnosis and mentioned me as blood flow was leaking in reverse direction. I am in confusion state. Still I am getting pain in my chest. The function of heart valve is to stop the blood coming back after they pump it ahead. When valve has problems it doea not funtion 100% and some amount of blood comes back called regurgitation. This increases the load on the chambers of heart causing pain whenever you do exertion as during that heart have to do more pumping and more blood comes back... Now for the Treatment part i will suggest you homoeopathic treatment it can cure these kind of troubles depending on the severity and duration of treatment... As this is not a simple complaint better take treatment with proper consultation only.

Hello lybrate user- in indian conditions where females don't take proper diet it is very common in major part of the population to get this kind of complaints. This might be due to improper food habits and worms in your intestine, or excess bleeding during menses. Try this ayurvedic treatment- a) do not drink coffee and other things to increase your bp it will further ruin your blood quality. B) avoid late night sessions and fast food. C) do not eat too much spicy food and increase dairy products like ghee and milk in your diet. D) practice surya namaskar daily in the morning. E) sttart tablet abhra loha 1 twice daily and shatavari kalpa 1 tsp twice daily. F) if having menstrual disturbances then start ashoka rishta 2 tsp twice daily with water after meals. This treatment not only will make your bp normal but also improve your digestion and make your skin glow.

Coronary Artery Disease: Causes and Treatment

DHMS
Homeopath, Mumbai
Coronary Artery Disease: Causes and Treatment

Coronary artery disease is characterized by accumulation of plaque in the coronary artery that chokes blood supply to the heart. This plaque buildup usually starts with cholesterol accumulation and gradually other particles such as calcium and lipoproteins get deposited as well. Over time, the plaque accumulates, making the blood vessels narrow and choking the supply of blood. In some cases, if the plaque ruptures, it may lead to formation of blood clots resulting in stroke.

The symptoms of coronary artery disease are:

  1. Breathing difficulties: This disorder may lead to shortness of breath as the blood pumping mechanism of the heart is impaired; this usually results in fatigue and exertion. It is advised to avoid advanced cardio exercises such as the high intensity interval training.
  2. Chest pain: Stress related activities may cause intense pressure or tightness in your chest, resulting in pain in the middle or left portion of your chest. If you discontinue the activity, the pain would usually subside. In some cases, you may feel the pain in the arm and the neck.
  3. Heart attack: If the level of plaque accumulation is excessive, then it may result in a heart attack. It is characterized by breathing difficulties, pain, tightness in the chest and sweating. You may also experience pain in the neck and the jaw.

The causes of coronary artery disease are:

  1. Smoking and alcohol consumption
  2. Leading a sedentary lifestyle ups the risk of coronary artery disease
  3. Hypertension
  4. High cholesterol levels in the body
  5. Blood sugar problems

Treatment:

  1. Get your blood pressure under control: If you suffer from high blood pressure, then it is recommended to get it under control to prevent coronary artery disease.
  2. Quit smoking: If you are a habitual smoker, then it is time to nip the habit in the bud. Smoking is known to constrict blood vessels as it is a vasoconstrictor.
  3. Eat healthy: Eat a well balanced diet consisting of vegetables and fruits so that your body receives the essential nutrients to function well.
  4. Beat stress: You need to control your stress levels through exercise or meditation. Take time off work and do activities that make you happy.

My wife is 4 months pregnant. Doctors checked for fetus heart beat. It showed 190 bom. Is it high or normal. Is there any problem if the heartbeat is 190 bom.

It is normal, remember that the fetus is rapidly developing at earlier stages, compared to 7 months and beyond when heart beat is around 120-140. But a fast growing fetus will have a faster beating heart, not to worry.
