Age-Appropriate Speech and Language Milestones!

MBBS, Diploma In Child Health
Pediatrician, Hyderabad

The ability to hear is essential for proper speech and language development. Hearing problems may be suspected in children who are not responding to sounds or who are not developing their language skills appropriately. The following are some age-related guidelines that may help to decide if your child is experiencing hearing problems.

It is important to remember that not every child is the same. Children reach milestones at different ages. Talk your child's healthcare provider if you are suspicious that your child is not developing speech and language skills correctly. The National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders and other experts list the following age-appropriate speech and language milestones for babies and young children.

I have a habit of smattering. I always start smattering when I was speaking in public. That was very embarrassing for me. So I want to know how could I get rid from this.

Stammering can be made lesser only and only by speech therapy. So you should take the help of a speech therapist. Also, i'd suggest you to visit a psychologist as confidence plays a great role in dealing with this problem. I'd suggest you to speak very slowly, word by word. People may make fun of this but believe me, slowly you'll get better at it. Hope your query is answered. Feel free to ask if you have any doubts. Wishing you good health.

For becoming a famous singer, avoid foods which are not too salty, oily, pungent or bitter. Best and safest food for singing is strict vegetarian diet and to take fruits in day time and cow's milk in night time about three hours after dinner.

One year and two month old baby is not speaking yet , only aaaa & un un speaking
Pls suggest.
Kids by the age of 12-15 months should have a wide range of speech sounds in their babbling (like p, b, m, d, or n), begin to imitate and approximate sounds and words modeled by family members, and typically say one or more words (not including" mama" and" dada") spontaneously. You can do speech therapy exercise. For few months. And constitutional homeopathic medicine will give you best result.

I, currently have a problem in fluent speaking due to the development of hard and bubbly emergent rashes (sort of huddles like) on the throat surface, inside. The touch exactly feels like the inner surface of a corroded metal pipe. It turns out to be like I feel etching, dryness and lack of control and coordination while speaking. It makes me put a lot of effort to initiate the words of sentences for to be fluent. So please do let me know some instant corrective measures regarding this. Thank you.

Hello, Check if you are down with cold or any throat infection. Have warm milk with turmeric with it and gargle with warm water twice a day. Simultaneously, also get your thyroid checked.
