What's are the activity doing by doctor in cognitive behaviour therapy in obsessive compulsive disorder? Please advice

BHMS, MD - Alternate Medicine
Homeopath, Nagpur
OCD's are neurotic disease where cognitive behavioral therapy has got limited role because the person is not in the position to overcome his obsessive behaviour and thoughts. Here in controlling his obsessive thoughts, homoeopathy can relieve a lot, then only the benefit of CBT can be reaped. But both the things are equally important. You can avail our package for psychiatric disease

I am 26 years old I have mentally stressed due to my job
how do I recover my health?
Dear , mental stress during work is quite common a problem with almost all youngsters and middle aged people. This happens because, at the initial stages of their job, they don't feel satisfied with their job and their salary. The second problem is their passion towards their job. They do not have enough knowledge and if they try to excel in their job, they will be disappointed. First few years should be dedicated to gain more knowledge and to be passionate. There should be a change in attitude and perception. I think one or two telephone counseling sessions with me should provide you with insight to your problem and tips to overcome it. Please let me know if you are willing for online counseling session. Take care.

I'm addicted to smoking from past 7-8 years. Daily I will have 6-10 cigarette's. Trying to quit but unable to. However I'm going to quit in next 2 months. Will it effect if I suddenly stop smoking. Heard that there are chances for heart stroke. Is that true? Also suggest me how to stop smoking.

Dear user. I can understand. Tobacco is addictive. Cigarette also contains 4000+ carcinogenic chemicals other than nicotine. Smoking can affect your mouth, throat, lungs, heart, stomach and brain in many ways. Cancer is one among the potential diseases smoking can cause. The best method is to leave it and continue with your will power. There are other methods like Nicotine Replacement therapy and pharmacotherapy combined. Nicotine chewing gums too help as an alternative for cigarettes. But still you will need will power. You may consult a physician or deaddiction therapist or a rehabilitation facility for further advice. You can also opt for online deaddiction therapy. Take care.

I was in a relationship with a girl and we broke up last year. After that I constantly stalk my ex. She has moved on and made a new boyfriend and they both are happy. I am in a habit to stalk my ex and his boyfriend too. Like what they are doing and where they are hanging out? And it has become a kind of addiction now. I do not feel happy and it feels like my life has no meaning now. Suggest me what should I do to get out of this?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
Well, just get out of stalking. You are only feeding your jealousy more and more. This obsession is wrong and shows that you have a tendency to cling on to someone and cannot part that easily. This has to be resolved in therapy and could be an indicator of an unhealthy symbiosis. You need to get her out of your mind and learn to live yours minus her. Your are displaying a craving for her as though you need her for your survival. This will not suit having other relationships too because your clinging can become quite unbearable, and you may also tend to want to control the other person. Go and resolve these mattes and then look at getting into another relationship.

Simple steps to help you quit smoking:

1. Smoke one cigarette less in a day and keep reducing till you stop.
2. Smoke in front of the mirror to realize you are smoking. Sometimes you may smoke without even realizing as it has become a habit.
3. Keep the cigarettes in the opposite pocket(for example in your left pocket if you usually keep them in your right pocket) or your bag so that you are aware whenever your hand goes for a cigarette.
4. Buy one cigarette at a time and not as a whole packet.
5. Write down the reasons why you are trying to quit in a small paper and keep it in your pocket all the time.

Most importantly NEVER LOSE CONFIDENCE.
On an average smokers make five to ten quit attempts before they ultimately quit.
