The techniques you have learned to overcome your stuttering you need to implement on regular basis, as the chances of relasping is more so that stammering might occur again. So, you need to practice relaxation technique and breathing exercise on a regular basis.

I am 26 years old. I smoke regularly and my stamina is low day by day. I am addicted to smoke. How can I increase my stamina and quit smoking.

Stamina" is the strength and energy needed to exert oneself for an extended period of time. Tips to increase stamina:- 1. Eat a healthy, balanced diet. Food is the fuel your body gets its energy from. A healthy, well-balanced diet keeps your body healthy and energized, raising your stamina. Try to eat a well-balanced, low-fat diet that includes plenty of fruits, vegetables and lean meats. For long-lasting energy, having up to a third of your diet be composed of starches and carbohydrates (whole wheat varieties are preferable. To keep your body steadily supplied with energy throughout get energy by eating several smaller meals throughout the day rather than one or two large meals. Snack on fruits, raw vegetables, nuts and other lean proteins between meals. Carry high-energy fruit and nut mixes with you during times of extended performance, such as hiking, cycling or cramming for final exams. 2. Stay hydrated. The health benefits of drinking lots of water are numerous - it can help you lose weight, prevent kidney stones, and much more. Water can also increase stamina by fighting muscle fatigue. Muscle tissue that is under-hydrated can under-perform, so keep your stamina up by drinking about 17 ounces of water a few hours before strenuous exercise. If you're starting on a long distance run or an extended exercise, have plenty of fluids with you so they'll be available if you get thirsty later. 3. Get plenty of physical exercise. Though it will tire you out in the short term, physical exercise increases your overall energy level and stamina over a long period of time. For optimal health and increased stamina, make time in your schedule for regular exercise. For adults, the Department of Health and Human Services recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate cardiovascular exercise per week (or 75 minutes of intense cardiovascular exercise), along with strength-building exercise sessions at least twice a week. 4. Sleep 7-8 hrs 5. Quit smoking and alcohol You have to increase your will power to stop smoking, be determined, homoeopathic medicines also reduce this addiction, go for constitutional homoeopathic treatment for complete cure.

Better concentration and focus makes your daily life easier and productive. I have put down some pointers below that will help improve your concentration and memory. Get good nights rest 7-8 hours. Eat rights. Try and organise your day, this will help reduce anxiety and stress level during work. Don't try to do multitasking. Try to do most daunting task first thing in the morning. Don't try and look for perfection in everything you attempt. Take breaks from work or study at regular intervals this will help you unwind and concentrate better. Don't judge your work in comparison of others. Yoga, specially pranayaam will help. Attempt sudoko and crossword to improve your memory. Replace negative thoughts with productive thoughts. There is always room for improvement, channelise your energy to use your weakness as your strength. Jot down your thoughts to refer as a ready reckoner anything you do can we done better with a calm mind, have faith in yourself. Good luck & take care.

Since the problem began to appear only recently, I think, it is not a serious one. If he has a habit of watching cartoon channels in tv, or using any other electronic gadgets for playing games, stop them immediately at any cost. And if he complains of such thoughts, just ignore them giving some funny comments without hurting him. This helps reducing anxiety associated with the problem thoughts, and also will reduce the frequency and intensity of such thoughts, if it is the case of attention seeking behaviour. Some children do like that intentionally to attract the attention of parents. If the symptom petsists even after 1month following the above modifictions, consult a paediatric psychiatrist.

I am very short tempered because of which I end up getting angry and frustrated. Such a behaviour results in hurting my loved ones. How to control this?

MD - Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Guwahati
Emotions are our feelings. Sometimes we are happy & sometimes sad, sometimes angry & upset, while sometimes calm & contented. Joy, sorrow, fear, grief, anger, jealousy, love etc are normal human emotions which every individual experiences. These emotions are there in everyone, but how one reacts to the emotions vary from person to person, based on his tolerance level, coping skills, patience etc. Anger is one such emotion, which do harm if not controlled. One does not have control over his emotions, but has control over his actions. Anger is a basic emotion which every human being experiences in response to life events or situations. If out of control it may harm in aspect of career, relationships & varied aspects of life, and also brings in immense feeling of insult, frustrations, disappointment, & other negative feelings within. Try the following measures to control short tempered nature: 1)First realize & acknowledge that you have the anger outburst problem, & stay aware & cautious about it. 2)Try to understand your own emotions especially those events, situations etc that triggers your anger. Whenever you face any such situations, stay alert & calm, try to avoid it or control it. 3)When you are angry, take a short break, move away from that place if possible, have a cup of tea or coffee etc to calm your mind. 4)Whenever you are feeling angry, try to interrupt the anger cycle in the following way: a)At that moment do not talk & try to divert yourself & control your anger first. In the state of anger you may say or do things which you may regret later after you calm down. B)Try to distract your mind by visiting a favorite website, listen a song on your cell phone, do something that comforts you or daydream about an activity of choice etc. C)Use countdown to distract your mind- start counting backwards from 100 to1. D)Use physical relaxation techniques like deep breathing exercise. E)Use mental relaxation techniques like positive thinking & imagery, where you imagine anything that gives you happiness. F)Just talk to someone with whom you feel comfortable and relaxed. G)Take your anger as a humor & laugh it away. Try till your anger calms down. 5)If any person or situation is triggering your anger repeatedly talk to the concerned person when you are in a calm & relaxed state of mind, or work on solving the situation. 6)Work on increasing the calmness of your mind, so that you do not break down easily in any situation. For that do physical activities like regular exercise, yoga, meditation, relaxation techniques like deep breathing exercise daily. Sleep adequately & maintain a healthy lifestyle. 7)Avoid substance of abuse like alcohol, cannabis etc, as these substances reduces frustration tolerance & makes the mind restless easily. 8)Try to be good listener & develop good communication skills, as proper communication solves many problems. 9)Learn to assert yourself, express your feelings calmly & directly, without becoming hostile & defensive. 10)Do not try to suppress your anger, but try to solve it. As suppressing anger leads to anxiety, depression, & other detrimental effects on the body within. If after trying above also you are not able to control your anger, then seek professional help. Consult a Psychiatrist who will evaluate you & advice you medicines or counseling sessions accordingly. All the best.

I failed very depressed due to studies as I have alot study nowadays by which I am always busy working.
I can give study tips to study better and easily. 10 Study Tips to Improve Your Learning Study Tip 1: Underlining Underlining is one of the simplest and best known study tips. It’s easy to highlight the most significant parts of what you’re reading. One key sentence per paragraph and a few important phrases here and there. You can only retain a certain amount so it’s best to retain the most important information. Study Tip 2: Make your own note and taking notes is one of the most widespread study skills out there. Essentially the aim of note-taking is to summarise lectures or articles in your own words so you can easily remember the ideas. Study Tip 3: Mind mapping A good Mind map can save you many hours of study and further consolidate your knowledge for your exams. Mind Maps are an extremely versatile tools. They can be used for brainstorming, outlining essays or study topics and for general exam preparation, ExamTime offers the ability to create Mind Maps quickly and easily which makes them the ideal tool when it comes to exams. Study Tip 4: Flash cards:- Using these are a particularly effective method of learning when trying to assimilate different facts, dates, formulas or vocabulary. Subjects such as History, Physics, Maths, Chemistry, Geography or any language are made much easier if you incorporate Flashcards in to your study. Study Tip 5: Case Studies Sometimes it can be difficult to grasp the implications of some theories. This is where studying case studies can be a big help. Case studies can help you visualise a theory and place it in a more familiar and realistic context. This is especially useful in business or law subjects. Study Tip 6: Quizzes are an excellent way to review study notes in the weeks and days before an exam. Quizzes can show where your strengths and weaknesses are, so it allows you to focus your efforts more precisely. Moreover, if you share your Study Quiz with your classmates and test each other as much as possible you can discover even more details and areas you may have overlooked. So before any exam, make sure you create and share a bunch of different Quizzes with your Friends. Study Tip 7: Brainstorming This is another study technique that is ideal for studying with friends and/or classmates. Brainstorming is a great way to expand every possible idea out of any topic. Just get a bunch of friends together and shoot the breeze, there are no wrong answers when brainstorming – just talk and capture the ideas, you can review afterward. Study Tip 8: Mnemonic Rules Mnemonics are especially useful when memorising lists and sets. Mnemonics rules basically work by associating certain concepts with other concepts that are more familiar to us. There are many different ways to make mnemonics and these can be individual to the person. Study Tip 9: ORGANISE your study One of the most effective study skills is also one of the most often overlooked; this is organising your study. Creating a TIME TABLE gives you goals and a time in which to achieve them. Having a study timetable as you study is greatly motivational Study Tip 10: Drawing Many people find it easier to recall images rather than text that is why they are better able to memorise concepts if they associate them with pictures or drawings.
