Dear Lybrate user. HSV-1, also known as oral herpes, can cause cold sores and fever blisters around the mouth and on the face. HSV-2 is generally responsible for genital herpes outbreaks. Where from you got this diagnosis? Genital herpes is a common and highly contagious infection usually spread through sex. This infection is usually caused by the herpes simplex virus-2. Antiviral medications are used to reduce the severity and frequency of genital herpes. Genital herpes symptoms usually develop about four days after exposure to an infected person. Some natural and home remedies may help relieve and soothe symptoms severity, but provide no cure. Please consult a skin specialist. Take care.

If we cum outside the vagina is there any chance of pregnancy. What are the precautions we need to take when having sex with out condom not to get pregnancy.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS

Dear lybrate-user, this is not a ver good method to prevent pregnancy. Chances of having pregnancy in this are pretty high. Should go for better, effective, safe methods of contraception.

Types of Birth Control Contraceptive Methods

Here are some tips on types of contraceptive methods

Hi I’m Dr. Soni Anand. I’m a consultant obstetrician-gynecologist and infertility expert. This is a very controversial topic and everyone wants to use something but they don’t know what to use, how to use and for how long to use and whether it is suitable for him and his partner, or not. There are basically 4 modalities of Contraception:

(a) Intra-Urine contraception device also known as Copper T, Multi load, Mirena etc. I think this is the most comfortable for the patient and it is usually applied on the 4th or 5th day of periods and if properly applied, there is no problem in the continuation of these devices. Usually in few patients you can have periods for a cycle or two but then it settles down. We have medication for that and second thing- you have to get a checkup, every 4-5 month intervals at your doctor, and I think this is the best method because it does not require every day motivation and has no hormonal side effects.

(b) Pills or OC Pills, there is a common myth that it causes weight gain but now a days like everything, the Pill has also evolved and now we have ultra-low dosage pills and they get the desired effect and prevents pregnancy but does not have a long term side effect which existed when there were high doses. And you have to start the pill on Day 1 and continue it for 21 days and then there is a pill free period where you’ll have your periods and then can again restart from Day 1 and it can be used under medical supervision as long as you want.

(c) Condoms, it is not a very reliable method because it is partner dependent and can be used as a spacing method if they are willing.

(d) The terminal method of contraception, i.e. the family planning surgery or tuber ligation. It is suggested to those patients who have completed their families and can opt for this permanent method.
My message to my viewers is that contraception is a confusing matter and if you can’t decide yourself, consult a doctor.

If you want to consult me, you can reach me through Lybrate. Either by a text or through telephone or you can book a physical appointment.

Edema in most cases is physiological but a few conditions have to be ruled out before labelling it as normal pregnancy change. High bp is the most important followed by hypoproteinemia, thyroid disorders to name a few.

Feeding uptil 1years is more than sufficient. After that baby gets nothing from feed but mother looses her calcium. Try to feed your child with proper food at night. Try to make her sleep with someone elze except you. In few days she will leave the night habit also.

I've got abnormal vaginal bleeding since last 3 days. Though it is very less in amount without any pain. I also want to mention here that my periods was just over last week. Once a menstrual bleeding had finished, very few women bleed again till next menses. But in some slight bleeding may occur at ovulation time. This is perhaps what you are experiencing. But without a thorough examination, one will not be able to rule out other causes, like cervical erosion, polyp or infection or even a vaginal tear. So best to go and see a gynecologist.

Yoga A Fertility Enhancement Tool

MS- Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Delhi

If any patient failed to become pregnant on a treatment of infertility one should be advised to take a break from treatment and take yoga session and relaxation therapy. Good result are seen after therapy.

Hello Dr. My wife has given birth to one baby son on 13 june. 2012. But after that she is not getting pregnant. She is suffering from irregular period. Please help.

M.B.S.(HOMEO), MD - Homeopathy
Homeopath, Visakhapatnam
Irregular or abnormal ovulation accounts for 30% to 40% of all cases of infertility. Having irregular periods, no periods, or abnormal bleeding often indicates that you aren't ovulating, a condition known clinically as anovulation. Although anovulation can usually be treated with fertility drugs, it is important to be evaluated for other conditions that could interfere with ovulation, such as thyroid conditions or abnormalities of the adrenal or pituitary glands. Homeopathic treatment: pulsatilla is one of the basic remedy for this problem. When the periods (menstruation cycle) is disturbed i. E. Periods are not on time may be early or late and also there is a pain in lower abdomen (menstrual cramps). The patient is depressed or sad. Lower abdominal pains & cramps, if these symptoms are present this is the best remedy to be considered. Jonesia ashoka is another basic remedy for the disturbed periods. It is commonly used in most of the female problems. It regulates the menstrual cycle and put it on to the right track. Gossypium is another remedy when there is disturbed periods with lack of bleeding, periods are usually late, the patient is also anemic & has low iron. This remedy should be avoided if there is a chance of pregnancy because this remedy may start the bleeding. Sepia is the remedy to be used when there is lower abdominal pain present with the feeling that something is coming out of the lower part (vagina) & the patient feels better when she sits with the leg crossing each other. The patient has also the problem of leucorrhea before or after the periods. Natr mur is one of the best remedy when the patient is anemic, low iron and there are gaps in the period or the periods skips many days or months. This remedy should also be avoided if there is a chance of pregnancy. Trillium pend is used when the periods are very heavy & the bleeding is almost out of control, patient feels dizzy due to weakness, this remedy also works when the patient is pregnant & the bleeding started at once, it can help to stop the bleeding.

Her breast produces liquid white discharge during love-making sessions, when pressed with even little pressure. Only the left breast. Is it anything to be concerned about?

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Normal nipple discharge more commonly occurs in both nipples and is often released when the nipples are compressed or squeezed (nipples may secrete fluid when they are stimulated or squeezed during love making). Some women who are concerned about breast secretions may actually cause it to worsen. They do this by repeatedly squeezing their nipples to check for nipple discharge. In these instances, leaving the nipples alone for a while may help the condition to improve. So no problem in your case. It is normal---------------------

Hi some doctors told me that if you are planning a baby then have sex in cycle of 10th to 18th day of period if she has a regular 30 days cycle. So my question is in this 10th to 18th day of cycle can I have a sex daily or on alternate days please suggest.

BHMS
Homeopath, Chennai
The male semen can able to survive 3 to 5 days in the female reproductive system. You can have sex when ever you want. It is a natural feeling. But during the 5th to 15th day of the cycle the ovum will release and will be available in uterus for 2 or 3 days and then they slide down. Frequent sex will have less semen count, you can have once in three days effectively. Build your stamina through exercise and increase the semen quality. When the semen quality is less then it cannot able to survive in uterus. Because female organ secrete acidic fluid and whereas male is alkaline. When ever you feel stress the oxygen binding capacity to sugar and it metabolism will get reduce and your body become acidic. It is a large topic which cannot be explained in a small text information. Take care.
