My daughter is 3 years complete and run 4 so what type I gve diet her she is thin can I gve her almond or chyanprakash.
Hi Lybrate-user, Give her home made food and include green leafy vegetable, all kinds of vegetables and fruits as per the availability and season in her diet. Encourage her to eat by herself. You can give her 3 to 4 meals in addition to 1 to snacks in a day. Add sugar/jaggery and ghee/edible oil to her diet to make them energy and calorie rich. Discourage eating outside and junk foods. Don't feed with force. Almonds can be given but not in whole nut form. Make almonds into powder or soft form and add in her diet. Whole nuts should not be given to children of this age because of risk of choking.

Hi, This may be due to breast engorgement because of inadequate emptying of breast milk. I appreciate your efforts of feeding baby exclusively with breast milk. Try to breast feed baby more frequently. Express the breast milk into a clean cup so that emptying will decrease the engorgement of breasts. Expressed breast milk can be fed to baby by using cup and spoon. To express milk, you can do manually or you can use breast milk pump. Ensure proper attachment of baby to your breasts during direct breastfeeding. You can take help and guidance of Nurse or the doctor at your hospital for expression of milk and proper attachment. Hope I have answered your concerns.

Hi lybrate-user, Your child needs further testing to know the cause for the fever which is coming since the last 8 months. In initial phase common tests like CBP, Malaria, Typhoid, urine infection tests, etc done. If they are normal, then other tests like TB tests, tests to rule out chronic infections and inflammatory diseases are being done by Children Doctors. In some children in spite of extensive tests, the cause of fever is very difficult to find out, but it is not possible. First it is better to know whether the child is suffering from common repeated infections which are causing fever since 8 months or a uncommon condition. So be in regular follow up with the Pediatrician for further evaluation of the problem with appropriate tests and his clinical examination. Hope I have answered your query.

I have vaccinated my son with HIB vaccine and hepatitis A vaccine yesterday. Today morning he had fever. Is that vaccine causes fever or he had any virus infection?

Hi lybrate-user, Vaccines usually cause fever for 24 to 48 hours after administration of Vaccine. If the fever is persisting beyond this period or associated with other symptoms like cold, cough, throat pain, loose stools, then we can think other reasons such as Viral infections. Hope I have answered your query. Regards,

My baby is 6 month old and I have started solid to her. How many time I should give her food in a day.

Hi lybrate-user, thank you for your query. After 6 months, complimentary feeds to be started in addition to breast milk. To start, give one semisolid feed in a day and gradually increase to 2 feeds in a day over 10 to 14 days. So during 6-8 months, 2-3 feeds in a day and during 9-12 months, 3-4 feeds of complimentary feeds can be given. Give mashed feeds. Hope I have answered your concerns.

Hi lybrate-user, thank you for your query. Baby's stools colour may vary. Green color stools are normal if there is no mucus, foul smelling, blood or increased stools with watery consistency. There is no restrictions on food for lactating mothers unless there is any specific food allergy in mother. In addition to mother milk, you should start mashed, semisolid complimentary feeds after 6 months of age. Hope I have answered your question.

Hi lybrate-user, thank you for your qjery. Generally birth weight doubles by 6 months of age and trebles by 1 year of age. For example, if a baby born with 3 kg weight, baby will be 6 kgs at 6 months and 9 kgs by 1 year of age. Give her breast feeds and continue to give complimentary feeds 3 to 4 times in a day. Make feeds calorie rich by adding a few drops of ghee or edible oil. Hope I have answered your concerns. Regards, Dr. E venkata ramana.
