Take lots of seasonal fruits and vegetables, both raw or cooked with minimal oil. Avoid transfats present in street food, burgers, pizzas. Use mustard oil for cooking, saute and steam vegetables but do not fry. Eat good fats like a spoon of desighee/ butter + a katori of assorted nuts everyday. Use carbs but reduce sugar and salt despite bp and blood sugar being normal, if high keep them under control. Do not compare your diet with others, eat according to your likes and constitution.

I am a male of 29 years age. I was normal until only two years ago, I unintentionally measured by B.P and it came a little bit on higher side. Then I went to doctor and he also checked my B.P and it came a little on higher side. Then the doctor advised me to go for 24 hours ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and it came out to be normal but initial readings were high. Then doctor told me that you have white coat effect. I become nervous whenever someone else checks my b.p whether at home or in a clinical setting and my b.p comes out on higher side. But whenever I am alone and I record my B.P on automatic B.P monitor, it comes out to be normal and most of the times below 120/80. But from the last one year I feeling slight tinges near my heart and I feel that that my heart is beating against my chest but not to that extent but when I put my hand near hand, I can feel my heat beating sharply and like against my chest. I did an ECG and it showed left ventricular hypertrophy but showed that it might be some voltage criteria. Then I did an ECHO and it came out to be perfectly normal. But still I feel that there is something wrong with my heart and I continuously feel some tinges in my heart. Doctors first put me on petril beta and then other put me on concor 5 mg along with some anti depressants. Currently the cardiologist has put me on stalopam 5 mg and clonazepam 0.25 mg. That is all. But still I feel that I am not healthy and I always fear that there is something wrong with my heart and that might be due to high bp. Please help me and please tell me that whether automatic bp monitors from which I measure bp at home are accurate or not. Please help me.

I want know information about heart attacks. What is the symptoms to find out in earlier stages.

MD Microbiology
General Physician,
I want know information about heart attacks. What is the symptoms to find out in earlier stages.
Hi. Heart attack in medical terms is myocardial infarction (mi). Which means a permanent damage to heart muscles. Heart muscles need oxygen rich blood to function. This is done by the blood vessels which supply the heart called coronary arteries. When these blood vessels get blocked it results in loss of blood supply to heart muscles. Resulting in heart attack. During an attack. Persons feels giddy, sweats, chest pain is severe which can be felt in that left shoulder, back, jaws etc, vomitting and fluctuating blood pressure (high or low). It can present differently too. But the above are common symptoms. Thank you.

Dear lybrate-user, cholesterol medicine is given to patients who have moderate to high risk of developing heart problem. Risk is calculated from age, sex, history of diabetes, high bp, smoking, family history etc. Otherwise unless cholesterol value is very high no cholesterol medicine is required. Only diet and exercise will be enough. As regards diet she can take almost all home cooked foods. Avoid oily and high carb foods.

Dear friend, this medicine will take about 2 weeks to help you with your symptoms. You will have to take medicine for a longer time. I would suggest to also work with a psychologist to address the issues behind your feelings. This will help you start discovering the triggers and also learn tools to tackle the same. Building resilience and learning to manage the stressors associated with the problem is the best way to deal the issue in a long term. These medicines are good but for a long term use have addictive effects, so dose will increase. These medicines also come with their own side effects. In a nut shell, start the medicine, this will help you with the symptoms in 2 weeks. Along with that start counselling to work on route problem. Feel free to contact me if you have any concerns for questions. Hope this helps, wishing you very best,

Blood pressure readings are a combination of two measurements. These are:
Systolic ? is the highest pressure against the arteries as the heart pumps. The normal systolic pressure is usually between 110 and 130mmHg.
Diastolic ? is the pressure against the arteries as the heart relaxes and fills with blood. The normal diastolic pressure is usually between 70 and 80mmHg.

At your age and with the medical conditions you have, you should be happy with the erections you have, harmonal therapy in your case is contraindicated as you already have a prostatic problem. Your prostatic condition may worsen with harmonal treatment. My suggestion is that you have to accept aging gracefully and try to adopt to the natural changes that a person of your age faces. If you are not satisfied with my answer please visit a urologist for further advice.
