Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) - How You Can Manage it With Home Remedies?

Urinary tract infections (UTIs), which are infections anywhere along the urinary tract including the bladder and kidneys are on the most common infections in women. These infections can be caused by poor hygiene, impaired immune function, the overuse of antibiotics and the use of spermicides. The most common cause, accounting for about 90 percent of all cases, is the transfer of E. coli bacteria from the intestinal tract to the urinary tract.

Fortunately, there are a few methods of natural treatment and prevention that are drug free and prescription free and more than are effective as well. Go Natural!

Indian Gooseberry (Amla)
Indian Gooseberry is rich in vitamin C which in turn inhibits the growth of bacteria

  • Take a cup of water.
  • Add one teaspoon of Indian gooseberry (amla) powder and one teaspoon of turmeric powder.
  • Boil the solution until half the water evaporates.
  • Drink the residue three times a day for three to five days.

You can also eat more fruits like lemons, oranges, bananas, guava, kiwi, melon, raspberries, tomatoes, and papaya that contain a good amount of Vitamin C.

Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is a rich source of enzymes, potassium and other useful minerals that can prevent the bacteria that cause UTIs from multiplying or growing. Those suffering from UTIs can use apple cider vinegar as

  • Natural antibiotic to treat the infection.
  • Add two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to a glass of water. You can also add lemon juice and sweeten with honey. Mix it well.
  • Drink this two times a day for a few days

Baking Soda
Baking soda will raise the acid-base balance of acidic urine and give you relief from the pain. Neutralizing the acidity in the urine also will help speed up recovery. Simply add one teaspoon of baking soda to a glass of water and drink it once or twice a day.

Blueberries
Blueberries have bacteria-inhibiting properties that can help in the treatment of UTIs. The antioxidants present in blueberries are good for the immune system, and they prevent growth of bacteria that causes UTIs.

  • You can add some fresh blueberries to your favorite cereal and have it for breakfast.
  • You can also make fresh blueberry juice and have it daily, in the morning and at night for quick results. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

While toilet my penis is paining too much? Whst is the exact reason why its too painful?

MS - General Surgery
General Surgeon, Pune
You might be having urethritis. A type of urinary tract infection. A course of medicine might help you. Uncommonly it could be bladder stone which irritates bladder neck causing trigone stimulation and patient feeling pain at the tip of penis while urinating. Surgeon will be able to help you with a course of urinary antiobiotics. If required they might do usg abdomen and pelvis after urine examniation. In a way its not very dangerous. No worries. Just get examined by a doctor.

Microalbunuria suggests early kidney damage. Only way to stop progressing it to further damage is by tight blood pressure control. No pain killers or herbal arthritis medicine as many of them have heavy metals which cause kidney damge. Correct her anemia after investigating its cause. Don't worry she will not deteriorate

I got relief but the small lump is still there, and now its about 6 months with on and off burning. Please tel me how to get clear that lump.

Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS), MS - Urology, MBBS

Dear, after severe diarroea you ave deloped anal fissure due to forceful repeated bowel actions. External pile develops around it which is nothing but swollen skin. Fissure has gone in chronic stage hence it gives you ocassional burning and if you carefully notice it would reappear after passage of hard faeces. Here are few suggestions: 1. Drink plenty of fluids 2. Take high fiber and high residue diet like salads, green leafy veg. Fruits like papita, banana, mango etc. 3. Take emolient laxative like cremaffin syrup 1 teaspoonful at night 4. Isabgol powder 3-4 tsf in 300 ml of water at night 5. Leave sedentary lifestyle and start walking or exercises regularly 6. Apply zincal ointment in side anus with finger turn it around twaice day especially before bowel action. 7. Take siitz" s bath- sit in a tubful of warm water for 15-20 minutes. 8. Avoid taking pain killers if possible Dr. Kirtan mehta.
