HAVING BLEEDING GUMS??????
Bleeding from gums is very common sign reported by many patients while brushing or flossing. Can u avoid an important sign your body is giving you. what to do now????
Bleeding gums can be caused by improper brushing, food accumulations, lack of vitamin-c, or pregnancy. First thing that you need to do is report to a dentist. They will schedule an appointment for teeth cleaning and may be some gum treatments if required.
Secondly have a rich fibrous intake and have lots of juicy fruits like Amla, Oranges, Pineapple etc.
Thirdly make sure you brush twice and your dentist might add a medicated mouthwash to your daily regime.
So no longer worry but do not ignore such an important sign.

Hello Doctor, I am a boy of 18 years old and have yellow teeth. I brush twice daily. What could I do to get my teeth whiten? Thank You.

Hello Doctor,
I am a boy of 18 years old and have yellow teeth. I brush twice daily.
What could I do to get my teeth ...
Hi. The simplest method of removing minor surface stains is polishing, or micro-abrasion if staining is more intrinsic. Provided that your discolouration is not due to inadequate enamel exposing the dentin, tooth whitening (bleaching) is often the most effective treatment for yellow stained teeth. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use Snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply SNOWDENT paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min .Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results.

Dear lybrate-user, bad smell from mouth have different causative factors like smelly food (garlic, onion), decay in teeth, infection in gums or even problems with stomach and lungs can also contribute to bad smell. One of the reason is not drinking water regularly i. E. Dry mouth too. Try to find out the reason and it is recommended that once in six months you get professional cleaning done.

Bleeding Gums - 7 Ways They Can be Managed!

Bleeding Gums - 7 Ways They Can be Managed!

If you see blood while brushing your teeth, do not ignore it; it could be a sign of gum disease. A build-up of plaque along the gum line is the main trigger for bleeding gums. If left untreated, it could lead to gingivitis or periodontitis which could further lead to the loss of teeth. Bleeding gums are also caused by:

  1. Vigorous brushing
  2. Bleeding disorders or use of blood thinners
  3. Hormonal changes during pregnancy
  4. Improper flossing
  5. Deficiency of vitamin K
  6. Tooth or gum related infection
  7. Ill-fitting dentures and braces
  8. Leukemia
  9. Scurvy

In most cases, bleeding gums can be treated at home. Here are a few tips.

  1. Use a soft bristle toothbrush. Ideally, you should brush your teeth gently after every meal, but if that is not possible, begin and end each day by brushing your teeth.
  2. Avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol as this can worsen the condition. Instead, rinse your mouth with a warm saline solution or a hydrogen peroxide solution.
  3. Floss your teeth twice a day to prevent plaque build up. However be careful not to cut your gums.
  4. Avoid snacking between meals and cut back on your carbohydrate intake. Avoid added sugars as far as possible.
  5. Massage your gums with an oral irrigation device on a low setting. You could also put pressure on your gums with a gauze pad soaked in ice water to relieve the bleeding.
  6. Consult your dentist to check that your braces, dentures etc. are well fitted and are not rubbing against your gums or causing sores.
  7. Avoid aspirin and other blood thinners.

In some cases, these home remedies may not be enough. If you experience severe or long-term bleeding or any other symptoms along with the bleeding, you must consult a dentist immediately. Your dentist will be able to clean your teeth and remove all plaque and tartar on the tooth enamel and under the gum line that may be causing the bleeding. The doctor will also be able to examine the positioning of your teeth to ensure that there is no alignment problem that is reducing the effectiveness of brushing or flossing. Your dentist may also give you a few suggestions on how to overcome this problem. Regular cleaning and dental examinations are crucial to reversing bleeding gums and the diseases associated with it.

In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Why my tongue fissured? Feeling tongue discomfort and inflammation? Will my tongue become normal.

FMAS, MS
General Surgeon, Gandhinagar
Respected lybrate-user there is no reason for fissures tongue. Maintaining oral hygiene at its best is the solution. Always gargles after taking any food or snacks. Can do betadine gargles in water when feeling more inflammation. Thanks regards.

Any suggestion for me that my both jaw is locked in winter and eat any hard food. Please help me.
Kindly consult an Oral & maxillofacial surgeon in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations (full mouth x-ray, TMJ open & closed mouth, MRI) & clinical examination to decide upon treatment. Until then have soft diet. Avoid yawning. Replace posterior teeth if they are missing
