Its ok if baby urinate frequent, apart from liquids you can give solid meals to your baby like khichri dalia and to make them more nutritious you can add few veggies in both. Sometimes it happen that we give milk in almos every meal or liquids thats y also urination could be frequent. So nothing to bother just do little changes as told.

Missing Teeth and Problems Associated With It

Missing Teeth and Problems Associated With It

A loss of tooth or teeth is one of the biggest dental problems that someone can face. The irony is that people consider loss of teeth to be very insignificant. But in reality loss of teeth can lead to not only cosmetic problems, but also functional problems and an unstable chewing mechanism.

Loss of teeth can lead to many problems. Some of them are:

  1. Supra eruption of opposing teeth
  2. Compromised efficiency of chewing
  3. Adjacent teeth might drift into the space created by missing teeth
  4. Food tend to accumulate between teeth, which have moved
  5. Food accumulation also leads to periodontal disease and caries
  6. A lopsided chewing pattern as there is loss of equilibrium in the mechanism of chewing
  7. The extracted area might reveal a loss of bone height
  8. Problems of the temporomandibular joints, like closed bite and TMJ osteoarthritis
  9. The existing functional teeth might lead to problems due to overload
  10. There are increased chances of cheek biting due to collapse of the cheek in the missing space, thus leading to functional and cosmetic problems
  11. The frequency of tongue biting and ulceration might increase in the area of missing teeth or tooth

When missing teeth are replaced, one can easily restore the healthy look of the teeth and also prevent any other dental problems which are due to the missing teeth.

While replacement of the missing teeth it is of utmost importance that the equilibrium is maintained with the distribution of the forces caused by chewing. Care is also taken that the cosmetic outlook is also maintained in the treatment.

Ideally the teeth when extracted or lost should be immediately replaced. This is because the replacement prevents the bone resorption or bone loss in the area and also retains the good bone. But a drawback is that such an immediate replacement might lead to limitation. Immediate treatment is usually done with the help of implants which easily fit in the sockets created by extraction. But even for this an analysis of the bone and gum health is necessary, thus leading to only a few instances for such replacements. Other alternative is that immediate removable dentures can be prepared and these can be replaced once the gums of the area have healed. The time period for this is usually 3 months. If these need to be fixed permanently then a waiting period of 3 months is mandatory for the settling and healing of the gums and bone of the area.

The 3 basic ways of fixing missing teeth are through implants, fixed bridgework (bridges and crowns) and dentures, which can be removed.

This is unfortunate that your child is suffering from thalassamia Major. This is autosomal recessive genetic disease. There are following advice for child. 1 please get his Hb level estimation every 3 to 4 weeks. The idea is maitain Hb above 9 to 10 gm%. When Hb level goes down which is likely every 3 to 4 weels then packed cell transfusion need to be given. Simultaneously your child shall need iron cheleating agent to prevent iron overload. This modality of treatment is to continue till child is alive. 2 Another option is to go for bone marrow transplantation which if successful shall cure the disease. The problem with BMT is selection of donor and huge expense in a select tertiary care center. 3 genetic couselling meaning thereby if the parents are interested for another child prenatal screening in ist trimester (first 3 months of pregnancy) to rule out same genetic disorder in your next baby. If report is abnormal you can go termination of pregnancy. Regards

Treating Stomach Aches and Pains in Kids

DNB (Pediatrics), MBBS
Pediatrician, Ghaziabad
Treating Stomach Aches and Pains in Kids

Stomach aches and pains are common in babies, infants and parents are always in search of quick fixer to help their little ones get a relief instantly. Though instant reliefs do not come always, and there are colicky infants and babies with common stomach problems, yet some remedies and treatments always help.

Stomach pain in older kids:
The common home remedies in not so serious pains are as follows:

  • Let the child rest and lie down. This may help to ease the pain in 20-30 minutes.
  • Give the child some liquid to drink, which is soothing, like light tea, soup, water or diluted fruit juice.
  • Let the child go to the toilet and encourage him or her to pass stool. This may help ease off the pain sooner.
  • Avoid any bulk food intake in one meal and divide it into smaller meals through the day until symptoms go away.
  • Don't give oily and fried food. Give easy to digest food, mostly boiled or light fried.
  • Avoid giving a medicine without medical advice.

These steps generally help and the pain goes away without going to a doctor immediately. If the pain is severe and is persistent in any one part of the abdomen, then it may require immediate medical attention. Common causes may be appendicitis or gall stone problem or may be a case of acute jaundice, diarrhoea, food poison, etc. Pain on pressing one part of the belly, or high body temperature with pain, and serious vomiting are serious symptoms which you must not ignore and take the kid immediately to a medical centre or doctor.

Stomach pain in infants:
Stomach pains in infants are caused due to extra air entering the stomach while feeding. This can be avoided by burping the baby manually. There are a few burping techniques which your paediatrician and baby care giver will show you.

If you are with a colicky baby, then you would try administering the baby's nursing bottle first. There are new age nursing bottle designs, which keep off extra air from entering the stomach. The extra air mainly causes the stomach pain, and therefore, the bottle which prevents mixing of air with milk or water keeps the baby safe from colicky pains. Keep baby colic pain syrups at home ready, and give the baby a dose as and when required. It will eventually give the pain a relief.

From my experience if you give bottle feed it is a reason no matter however you sterilise the bottle. You can feed with spoon and the best is to give breast milk aways and now you can start homemade semisolids also. Here ad there are pus cells you can give antibiotics if stopping bottle does not help and infrom me.

There are many changes in habits occur at this adolescent age due to hormonal changes which some time disturbs one's earlier living. Proper Counselling is necessary by pediatrician or psychiatrist. Right now don't make him conscious and intelligently try not to leave him alone as far as possible.

You didn't mention the weight of the baby based on which we can judge whether your baby is really malnourished or not. You need not worry about her. There are many more years for her grow. Continue giving breast milk (if you had not stopped yet) along with soft diet like mashed rice with dal. You can also give milk and curd too. Also try giving fruits this would help her gain weight. You can contact me through chat consultation or direct quiries section any time.

It could be some infection or blockage of lacrimal duct. Put 2 drops of breast milk in each eye and carfully massage the medial side of eye downwards over the lateral side of nose. Do this twice daily and you can also use ciplox drops 3-4 times a day in both eyes.
