Hi doctors my daughter age 3 yrs. MPS (mucopolysaccharides) problem type 3 telling if you have treatment. Where I show my daughter. Pls help me.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
The MPS Diseases. The Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPSs) are rare genetic disorders in children and adults. They involve an abnormal storage of mucopolysaccharides, caused by the absence of a specific enzyme. Without the enzyme, the breakdown process of mucopolysaccharides is incomplete. The life expectancy of these individuals is 10 to 20 years. Individuals with mild MPS II also have a shortened lifespan, but they typically live into adulthood and their intelligence is not affected. Heart disease and airway obstruction are major causes of death in people with both types of MPS II.

My child is suffering from epilepsy since last 2 years and now he is 8 years old. But still In spit talking medicine sezuires are not controlled. So please so advice me.

MBBS, MD Psychiatry, DNB Psychiatry

Children with history of seizures beginning at around 6 years of age need complete evaluation. Children are more prone for seizures until age of 15-16 years. Do to st or deuce dose of medications if advised by a doctor. If the child has a tendency to seize more frequently inspite of taking regular medications, it is worthwhile to do serum drug levels, an eeg and consider adding or changing or stepping up the dose of medications.

My one year old baby does not eat any foods. It wants always breast milk. Doctor given 2 iron syrups only. She doing like that after onwards.

Diploma in Child Health (DCH), F.I.A.M.S. (Pediatrics)
Pediatrician, Muzaffarnagar
Whenever you take your meal, give him a little of food as just for sake of to develop taste and repeat whenever you get opportunity several time in a day but do not force to eat. Thus he may develop taste and may start eating. Continue breast feed. Iron has nothing to do with this problem. One brand of iron is sufficient.

My child is 4 months and ten days now. When should I start giving cerelac and other home cooked baby food to him?

Diploma in Child Health (DCH), MBBS
Pediatrician, Kurukshetra
You should breast feed your baby for six months and then introduce semisolids. Home cooked foods are better than market foods.

My 2 year old daughter does not eat well. Sometime whole day passes without eating. Only 60-100 ml milk. Please suggest as she is underweight (9 kg. Also she started rubbing her upper n lower teeth. Is it because she has stomach worm?

Diploma in Child Health (DCH), F.I.A.M.S. (Pediatrics)
Pediatrician, Muzaffarnagar
It is frequently asked questions which I have replied many times. However if baby is active n not suffering from any disease, don't force to eat, leave her at her liberty to eat nutritious diet prepared at home including milk and its products fruits etc whenever n whatever she likes. I hope gradually she shall pick up.

Dear doctor, my daughter is 5 months old her weight is 7. 5 kgs - when she was born doctor has advised to give vitanova d3 - I seek you advice how long should it be continued? warm regards

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Vitamin d (ergocalciferol-d2, cholecalciferol-d3, alfacalcidol) is a fat-soluble vitamin that helps your body absorb calcium and phosphorus. Having the right amount of vitamin d, calcium, and phosphorus is important for building and keeping strong bones. Vitamin d is used to treat and prevent bone disorders (such as rickets, osteomalacia). Vitamin d is made by the body when skin is exposed to sunlight. Sunscreen, protective clothing, limited exposure to sunlight, dark skin, and age may prevent getting enough vitamin d from the sun. If the baby feeding milk and taking nutrients it is not absolutely necessary to give calcium supplement. But there is no harm in giving to a growing child as his requirements of all vitamins are more. Let us say you can give till one year after that he must get all nutrition from good food. Happy parenting. Feel free to ask any doubt, privately.

If your child is allergic to some food item or dust you need to take care and avoid these which might be reason for her cold and cough. You can start her with sitophaladi churna, mix a pinch of powder in one teaspoonfull of honey and give daily at bed time.

Son is 3 years old and has the habit of keeping his tongue out most of the time. Was advised to wait and it will go with time but it doesn't seem to be improving. He speaks a lot and I don't see a problem with his speech except inability to say 'r' sound.

MD - Alternate Medicine, DNHE, BHMS
Homeopath, Ahmedabad
This habit will automatically be resolved. One thing to watch for is to observe exactly in what circumstances or situation he keeps it out. If nothing like that, no worries.

She is having fever. 102. Inspite of giving paracetamol its not coming down. Blood report says negative for malaria and dengue.. Blood dc says high segmented nutrophil 86 lymphocytes low 11 is it some kind of infection? what antibiotic should be given? than.

AUTLS, CCEDM, MD - Internal Medicine, MBBS
General Physician, Faridabad
segmented neutrophils are signs of vitamin b12 deficiency..take tablets becasules twice daily for that after meals Fever is not considered medically significant until body temperature is above 100.4 F (38 C). Fever serves as one of the body's natural defenses against bacteria and viruses which cannot live at a higher temperatures..Also, the body's defense mechanisms seem to work more efficiently at a higher temperature -Fevers of 104 F (40 C) or more may be dangerous and demand immediate treatment The following medications may be used at home for mild fever : -Acetaminophen (dolo-650 mg) twice or thrice can be used to lower a fever . Aspirin should not be used in children during a viral illness. -Wear comfortable loose fitting clothes and donot overdress. Overdressing can cause the temperature to rise further. -Tepid water (85 F [30 C]) baths may help bring down a fever -The body should be cooled with a wet sponge. -Fever can cause dehydration.Drink plenty of fluids.Have citrus fruits, particularly Vitamin C rich ones like mausami,Amla juice etc. -Take light and easily digestible home cooked meals .avoid outside food -Wash your hands frequently with soap and warm water especially before meals, or after returning from a public places or using public transport. -Further therapy depends on the cause of fever like urinary infection/typhoid or malaria/dengue infection and the accompanying symptoms that need to be investigated and treated accordingly

Hello doctor, my son was very fair in colour and good looking skin until he reaches one month. And after that he gradually becomes dark. Now he is 7th month old and I tried so many things but no use. I've using dermadew baby soap still his skin is dark in colour. Can anyone suggest me something please?

DNB (Pediatrics), Diploma in Child Health (DCH), MBBS
Pediatrician, Bangalore
Skin color of the baby is similar to parents skin. So if that's the case then please don't try to change nature. If both parents are fair and only son is dark then that needs evaluation for endocrine reasons.

Drinking a cup of tea everyday helps in keeping the gums and teeth healthy as it contains high amounts of flouride and flavonoids which prevent harmful bacteria from sticking to the teeth.

Junk foods are unhealthy and may lead to various health problems. Food habits depend on how we cultivate. Slowly you must divert towards other foods with love and affection.

My baby's birth weight is 2.23 and now she is 8.5kg, now she is 13months old. Is this weight gain normal, weight gain hasbbeen stopped from 10th month. She is very active and crossing every milestone in time. Kindly guide me in this.

MD - Paediatrics
Pediatrician, Ranchi
Hello thanks for the query gain in weight three times of birth weight at 12-13 month of age is quite normal. The growth is very rapid in first few months of infancy but then it gradually slows down. The weight gets doubled of birth weight at 6 month 3 times at one year and 4 times by 2 year of age. I hope you have got the point. Maintain the record of weight and height on growth chart so that you can better assess the growth of child. Regards.
