I've been having this pain in my left upper back for a while. It feels sore and painful whenever I turn or lie down. I feel pain in my upper left chest when I press on one rib there or when I bend. The pain forces me to cough. I did an ECG and a blood test for a clot and a chest xray and all results were normal. I'd like to know what might be the causes for that pain.

Dear lybrateuser, - Your problem could be due to muscular & bony problem - do not exert, bend, lift up weight - do hot fomentation of the affected area three times a day - apply pain relief gel thrice a day, do not rub apply lightly - take a pain relief tablet after meals if pain is more.

My father is patient of severe diabetes, heart and arteries blockage, kidney failure, bed-ridden without much movement, has developed gangrene in both legs and one hand, according to doppler there is no blood supply in legs. Gangrene is having pus and odor. He is taking antibiotic injection and antiseptic dressing. Is unani treatment possible in this situation?

Dear Lybrateuser, - Your pain could be due your present state of mind - keep yourself busy with your job or reading, follow a hobby, do social work, interact with friends & family, try to forget the past - do regular exercise like walking, jogging for 20-30 min, do yoga, deep breathing & meditation which will calm your mind & keep you fit & focussed - have a well balanced diet with more of fruits & vegetables, whole grains, low fat dairy, nuts - take a pain relief tablet after meals if pain is more.

If I have pain in chest area which hurts when I touch or move but disappeared for weeks then occasionally comes back should I be worried.

You should not. Thats not something very serious. However it may be due to some minor problem which can be sorted out. Get yourself checked up if its bothering you too much. In the mrantime simple anlgesics may help.

Try eatng lots of garlic. If u cant have it get it homeopathically allium sativum,(homeo) crataegus (biochemic) kali dichrom, bio combination number 7, (homeo) gymnema sylvester, syzygium jambolanum. Its for diabetes.

Do some exercise. 1st of all walk out daily 2 hours early in the morning and 2 hours after dinner. It is better for high blood pressure and obesity both. Please consult nearby physician and get chest auscultated to rule out bronchitis, please do warm up before workout take liquids like fruit juices, water 20 minutes before and 20 minutes after workout take salads and fruits more before lunch.

Do’s:       

  1. Lose weight if overweight or obese.      
  2. Drink plenty of water.       
  3. Exercise regularly for atleast 30mins.        
  4. Increase the intake of fruits, vegetables and whole grains.       
  5. Choose low fat dairy products over the high fat dairy products.        
  6. Have small frequent meals.      
  7. Include proteins like fish, lean chicken but in baked, boiled or grilled.

  2. Don’t drink alcohol.        
  3. Reduce the intake of salt and can use herbs, lemon.
